D³raªgamanti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± s±vatthiya½ viharanto saªgharakkhita½ n±ma bhikkhu½ ±rabbha kathesi.
S±vatthiya½ kireko kulaputto satthu dhammadesana½ sutv± nikkhamitv± pabbajito laddh³pasampado saªgharakkhitatthero n±ma hutv± katip±heneva arahatta½ p±puºi. Tassa kaniµµhabhagin² putta½ labhitv± therassa n±ma½ ak±si. So bh±gineyyasaªgharakkhito n±ma hutv± vayappatto therasseva santike pabbajitv± laddh³pasampado aññatarasmi½ g±mak±r±me vassa½ upagantv±, “eka½ sattahattha½, eka½ aµµhahatthan”ti dve vass±v±sikas±µake labhitv± aµµhahattha½ “upajjh±yassa me bhavissat²”ti sallakkhetv± “sattahattha½ mayha½ bhavissat²”ti cintetv± vuµµhavasso “upajjh±ya½ passiss±m²”ti ±gacchanto antar±magge piº¹±ya caranto ±gantv± there vih±ra½ an±gateyeva vih±ra½ pavisitv± therassa div±µµh±na½ sammajjitv± p±dodaka½ upaµµhapetv± ±sana½ paññapetv± ±gamanamagga½ olokento nis²di. Athass±gamanabh±va½ disv± paccuggamana½ katv± pattac²vara½ paµiggahetv±, “nis²datha, bhante”ti thera½ nis²d±petv± t±lavaºµa½ ±d±ya b²jitv± p±n²ya½ datv± p±de dhovitv± ta½ s±µaka½ ±netv± p±dam³le µhapetv±, “bhante, ima½ paribhuñjath±”ti vatv± b²jayam±no aµµh±si.
Atha na½ thero ±ha– “saªgharakkhita, mayha½ c²vara½ paripuººa½, tvameva paribhuñj±”ti. “Bhante, may± laddhak±lato paµµh±ya aya½ tumh±kameva sallakkhito, paribhoga½ karoth±”ti. “Hotu, saªgharakkhita, paripuººa½ me c²vara½, tvameva paribhuñj±”ti. “Bhante, m± eva½ karotha, tumhehi paribhutte mayha½ mahapphala½ bhavissat²”ti. Atha na½ tassa punappuna½ kathentassapi thero na icchiyeva.
Eva½ so b²jayam±no µhitova cintesi– “aha½ therassa gihik±le bh±gineyyo, pabbajitak±le saddhivih±riko, evampi may± saddhi½ upajjh±yo paribhoga½ na kattuk±mo. Imasmi½ may± saddhi½ paribhoga½ akaronte ki½ me samaºabh±vena, gihi bhaviss±m²”ti. Athassa etadahosi– “dussaºµh±pito ghar±v±so, ki½ nu kho katv± gihibh³to j²viss±m²”ti. Tato cintesi– “aµµhahatthas±µaka½ vikkiºitv± eka½ e¼ika½ gaºhiss±mi, e¼ik± n±ma khippa½ vij±yati, sv±ha½ vij±ta½ vij±ta½ vikkiºitv± m³la½ kariss±mi, m³le bah³ katv± eka½ paj±pati½ ±ness±mi, s± eka½ putta½ vij±yissati. Athassa mama m±tulassa n±ma½ katv± c³¼ay±nake nis²d±petv± mama puttañca bhariyañca ±d±ya m±tula½ vanditu½ ±gamiss±mi, ±gacchante antar±magge mama bhariya½ eva½ vakkh±mi– ‘±nehi t±va me putta½ vahiss±minan’ti. S± ‘ki½ te puttena, ehi, ima½ y±naka½ p±jeh²’ti vatv± putta½ gahetv±, ‘aha½ ness±mi nan’ti netv± sandh±retu½ asakkont² cakkapathe cha¹¹essati. Athassa sar²ra½ abhiruhitv± cakka½ gamissati, atha na½ ‘tva½ mama putta½ neva mayha½ ad±si, na½ sandh±retu½ n±sakkhi n±sitosmi tay±’ti vatv± patodayaµµhiy± piµµhiya½ pahariss±m²”ti.
So eva½ cintentova µhatv± b²jayam±no therassa s²se t±lavaºµena pahari. Thero “ki½ nu kho aha½ saªgharakkhitena s²se pahato”ti upadh±rento tena cintitacintita½ sabba½ ñatv±, “saªgharakkhita, m±tug±massa pah±ra½ d±tu½ n±sakkhi, ko ettha mahallakattherassa doso”ti ±ha. So “aho naµµhomhi, ñ±ta½ kira me upajjh±yena cintitacintita½, ki½ me samaºabh±ven±”ti t±lavaºµa½ cha¹¹etv± pal±yitu½ ±raddho.
Atha na½ dahar± ca s±maºer± ca anubandhitv± ±d±ya satthu santika½ agama½su. Satth± te bhikkh³ disv±va “ki½, bhikkhave, ±gatattha, eko vo bhikkhu laddho”ti pucchi. “¾ma, bhante, ima½ dahara½ ukkaºµhitv± pal±yanta½ gahetv± tumh±ka½ santika½ ±gatamh±”ti. “Eva½ kira bhikkh³”ti? “¾ma, bhante”ti. “Kimattha½ te bhikkhu eva½ bh±riya½ kamma½ kata½, nanu tva½ ±raddhav²riyassa ekassa buddhassa putto, m±disassa n±ma buddhassa s±sane pabbajitv± att±na½ dametv± sot±pannoti v± sakad±g±m²ti v± an±g±m²ti v± arah±ti v± vad±petu½ n±sakkhi, kimattha½ eva½ bh±riya½ kammamak±s²”ti? “Ukkaºµhitosmi, bhante”ti. “Ki½ k±raº± ukkaºµhitos²”ti? So eva½ vass±v±sikas±µak±na½ laddhadivasato paµµh±ya y±va therassa t±lavaºµena pah±r± sabba½ ta½ pavatti½ ±rocetv±, “imin± k±raºena pal±tosmi, bhante”ti ±ha. Atha na½ satth± “ehi bhikkhu, m± cintayi citta½ n±meta½ d³re hontampi ±rammaºa½ sampaµicchanakaj±tika½, r±gadosamohabandhan± muccanatth±ya v±yamitu½ vaµµat²”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
37. “D³raªgama½ ekacara½, asar²ra½ guh±saya½;
ye citta½ sa½yamessanti, mokkhanti m±rabandhan±”ti.
Tattha d³raªgamanti cittassa hi makkaµasuttamattakampi puratthim±didis±bh±gena gaman±gamana½ n±ma natthi, d³re santampi pana ±rammaºa½ sampaµicchat²ti d³raªgama½ n±ma j±ta½. Sattaµµhacitt±ni pana ekato kaººikabaddh±ni ekakkhaºe uppajjitu½ samatth±ni n±ma natthi. Uppattik±le ekekameva citta½ uppajjati, tasmi½ niruddhe puna ekekameva uppajjat²ti ekacara½ n±ma j±ta½. Cittassa sar²rasaºµh±na½ v± n²l±dippak±ro vaººabhedo v± natth²ti asar²ra½ n±ma j±ta½. Guh± n±ma catumah±bh³taguh±, idañca hadayar³pa½ niss±ya pavattat²ti guh±saya½ n±ma j±ta½. Ye cittanti ye keci puris± v± itthiyo v± gahaµµh± v± pabbajit± v± anuppajjanakakilesassa uppajjitu½ adent± satisammosena uppannakilesa½ pajahant± citta½ sa½yamessanti sa½yata½ avikkhitta½ karissanti. Mokkhanti m±rabandhan±ti sabbete kilesabandhan±bh±vena m±rabandhanasaªkh±t± tebh³makavaµµ± muccissant²ti.
Desan±pariyos±ne bh±gineyyasaªgharakkhitatthero sot±pattiphala½ p±puºi, aññepi bah³ sot±pann±dayo j±t±, mah±janassa s±tthik± dhammadesan± ahos²ti.
