Athekadivasa½ saµµhimatt± bhikkh³ satthu santike y±va arahatt± kammaµµh±na½ kath±petv± ta½ g±ma½ gantv± piº¹±ya pavisi½su. Atha ne yo tassa g±massa s±miko m±tiko n±ma, tassa m±t± disv± gehe nis²d±petv± n±naggarasena y±gubhattena parivisitv±, “bhante, kattha gantuk±m±”ti pucchi. “Yath± ph±sukaµµh±na½ mah±-up±sike”ti. S± “vass±v±saµµh±na½, ayy±, pariyesanti maññe”ti ñatv± p±dam³le nipajjitv±, “sace, ayy±, ima½ tem±sa½ idha vasissanti, aha½ t²ºi saraº±ni, pañca s²l±ni gahetv± uposathakamma½ kariss±m²”ti ±ha. Bhikkh³ “maya½ ima½ niss±ya bhikkh±ya akilamant± bhavanissaraºa½ k±tu½ sakkhiss±m±”ti adhiv±sayi½su. S± tesa½ vasanaµµh±na½ vih±ra½ paµijaggitv± ad±si.
Te tattheva vasant± ekadivasa½ sannipatitv± aññamañña½ ovadi½su, “±vuso, amhehi pam±dac±ra½ caritu½ na vaµµati. Amh±kañhi sakageha½ viya aµµha mah±niray± vivaµadv±r±yeva, dharam±nakabuddhassa kho pana santike kammaµµh±na½ gahetv± maya½ ±gat±, buddh± ca n±ma pad±nupadika½ vicaranten±pi saµhena ±r±dhetu½ na sakk±, yath±jjh±sayeneva ±r±dhetu½ sakk±, appamatt± hotha, dv²hi ekaµµh±ne na µh±tabba½, na nis²ditabba½, s±ya½ kho pana ther³paµµh±nak±le p±tova bhikkh±c±rak±le ekato bhaviss±ma, sesak±le dve ekato na bhaviss±ma, apica kho pana aph±sukena bhikkhun± ±gantv± vih±ramajjhe ghaº¹iy± pahat±ya ghaº¹isaññ±ya ±gantv± tassa bhesajja½ kariss±m±”ti.
Tesu eva½ katika½ katv± viharantesu ekadivasa½ s± up±sik± sappitelaph±ºit±d²ni g±h±petv± d±sad±sikammakar±d²hi parivut± s±yanhasamaye ta½ vih±ra½ gantv± vih±ramajjhe bhikkh³ adisv±, “kaha½ nu kho, ayy±, gat±”ti purise pucchitv±, “attano attano rattiµµh±nadiv±µµh±nesu nisinn± bhavissanti, ayye”ti vutte, “ki½ nu kho katv± daµµhu½ sakkhiss±m²”ti ±ha. Atha na½ bhikkhusaªghassa katikavatta½ j±nanamanuss± ±ha½su– “ghaº¹iy± pahat±ya sannipatissanti, ayye”ti. S± ca ghaº¹i½ pahar±pesi. Bhikkh³ ghaº¹isadda½ sutv±, “kassaci aph±suka½ bhavissat²”ti sakasakaµµh±nehi nikkhamitv± vih±ramajjhe sannipati½su. Dvepi jan± ekamaggen±gat± n±ma natthi. Up±sik± ekekaµµh±nato ekekameva ±gacchanta½ disv±, “mama puttehi aññamañña½ kalaho kato bhavissat²”ti cintetv± bhikkhusaªgha½ vanditv± pucchi– “kalaha½ nu kho, bhante, karitth±”ti? “Na karoma, mah±-up±sike”ti. “Sace vo, bhante, kalaho natthi, atha kasm± yath± amh±ka½ geha½ ±gacchant± sabbe ekatova ±gacchatha, eva½ an±gantv± ekekaµµh±nato ekek±va ±gat±”ti? “Mah±-up±sike, ekekasmi½ µh±ne nis²ditv± samaºadhamma½ karimh±”ti. “Ko esa bhante, samaºadhammo n±m±”ti? “Dvatti½s±k±re sajjh±ya½ karoma, attabh±ve ca khayavaya½ paµµhapema, mah±-up±sike”ti. “Ki½ pana, bhante, dvatti½s±k±re sajjh±ya½ k±tu½, attabh±ve ca khayavaya½ paµµhapetu½ tumh±kameva vaµµati, ud±hu amh±kamp²ti, kassacipi av±rito esa dhammo, mah±-up±sike”ti. “Tena hi, bhante, mayhampi dvatti½s±k±ra½ detha, attabh±ve ca khayavayapaµµhapana½ ±cikkhath±”ti. “Tena hi uggaºha, mah±-up±sike”ti sabba½ uggaºh±pesu½.
S± tato paµµh±ya dvatti½s±k±re sajjh±ya½ katv± attani khayavaya½ paµµhapetv± tehi bhikkh³hi puretarameva tayo magge, t²ºi ca phal±ni p±puºi. Maggeneva cass± catasso paµisambhid± lokiya-abhiññ± ca ±gami½su. S± maggaphalasukhato vuµµh±ya dibbacakkhun± oloketv±, “kad± nu kho mama puttehi aya½ dhammo adhigato”ti upadh±rent² sabbepime sar±g± sados± samoh± jh±navipassan±mattampi tesa½ natthi, “ki½ nu kho mayha½ putt±na½ arahattassa upanissayo atthi, natth²”ti ±vajjetv±, “atth²”ti disv±, “sen±sanasapp±ya½ nu kho atthi, natth²”ti ±vajjetv± tampi disv±, “puggalasapp±ya½ nu kho labhanti, na labhant²”ti ±vajjesi, puggalasapp±yampi disv±, “±h±rasapp±ya½ nu kho labhanti, na labhant²”ti upadh±rent² “±h±rasapp±ya½ nesa½ natth²”ti disv± tato paµµh±ya n±n±vidha½ y±gu½, anekappak±ra½ khajjaka½, n±naggarasañca bhojana½ samp±detv± gehe bhikkh³ nis²d±petv± dakkhiºodaka½ datv±, “bhante tumh±ka½ ya½ ya½ ruccati, ta½ ta½ gahetv± paribhuñjath±”ti niyy±desi. Te yath±ruci y±gu-±d²ni gahetv± paribhuñjanti. Tesa½ sapp±y±h±ra½ labhant±na½ citta½ ekagga½ ahosi.
Te ekaggena cittena vipassana½ va¹¹hetv± na cirasseva saha paµisambhid±hi arahatta½ patv± cintayi½su– “aho mah±-up±sik± amh±ka½ patiµµh± j±t±, sace maya½ sapp±y±h±ra½ na labhimha, na no maggaphalapaµivedho abhavissa, id±ni vuµµhavass± pav±retv± satthu santika½ gamiss±m±”ti. Te “satth±ra½ daµµhuk±mamh±”ti mah±-up±sika½ ±pucchi½su. “Mah±-up±sik± s±dhu, ayy±”ti. Te anugantv± punapi, “bhante, amhe olokeyy±th±”ti bah³ni piyavacan±ni vatv± paµinivatti. Tepi kho bhikkh³ s±vatthi½ gantv± satth±ra½ vanditv± ekamanta½ nisinn± “kacci, bhikkhave, khaman²ya½, kacci y±pan²ya½, na ca piº¹akena kilamitth±”ti vutte “khaman²ya½, bhante, y±pan²ya½, bhante, piº¹akena pana neva kilamimha. Amh±kañhi m±tikam±t± n±mek± up±sik± citt±c±ra½ ñatv±, ‘aho vata no evar³pa½ n±ma ±h±ra½ paµiy±deyy±’ti cintite yath±cintita½ ±h±ra½ paµiy±detv± ad±s²”ti tass± guºakatha½ kathayi½su.
Aññataro bhikkhu tass± guºakatha½ sutv± tattha gantuk±mo hutv± satthu santike kammaµµh±na½ gahetv±, “bhante, ta½ g±ma½ gamiss±m²”ti satth±ra½ ±pucchitv± jetavanato nikkhamitv± anupubbena ta½ g±ma½ patv± vih±ra½ pavisanadivaseyeva cintesi– “aya½ kira up±sik± cintitacintita½ j±n±ti, ahañca maggakilanto vih±ra½ paµijaggitu½ na sakkhiss±mi, aho vata me vih±rapaµijaggaka½ manussa½ peseyy±”ti. Up±sik± gehe nisinn±va ±vajjent² tamattha½ ñatv±, “gaccha, vih±ra½ paµijaggitv± eh²”ti manussa½ pesesi. Itaropi p±n²ya½ pivituk±mo “aho vata me sakkharap±naka½ katv± peseyy±”ti cintesi. Up±sik± tampi pesesi. So punadivase “p±tova siniddhay±gu½ me sa-uttaribhaªga½ peset³”ti cintesi. Up±sik± tath± ak±si So y±gu½ pivitv±, “aho vata me evar³pa½ khajjaka½ peseyy±”ti cintesi. Up±sik± tampi pesesi. So cintesi– “aya½ up±sik± may± sabba½ cintitacintita½ pesesi, aha½ eta½ daµµhuk±mo, aho vata me n±naggarasabhojana½ g±h±petv± sayameva ±gaccheyy±”ti. So katabhattakicco “m±tikam±t± n±ma tva½, mah±-up±sike”ti pucchi. “¾ma, t±t±”ti. “Tva½ paracitta½ j±n±s²”ti? “Ki½ ma½ pucchasi, t±t±”ti? “May± cintitacintita½ sabbamak±si, tena ta½ pucch±m²”ti. “Paracittaj±nanakabhikkh³ bah³, t±t±”ti? “N±ha½ aññe pucch±mi, tuva½ pucch±mi, up±sike”ti. Eva½ santepi up±sik± “paracitta½ j±n±m²”ti avatv± “paracitta½ j±nant± n±ma eva½ karonti putt±”ti ±ha. Atha na½ satth± “ki½ bhikkhu na tva½ tattha vasas²”ti pucchi. “¾ma, bhante, na sakk± tattha vasitun”ti. “Ki½ k±raº± bhikkh³”ti? “Bhante, s± up±sik± cintitacintita½ sabba½ j±n±ti, puthujjan± ca n±ma sobhanampi asobhanampi cintenti, sac±ha½ kiñci ayutta½ cintess±mi, saha bhaº¹akena cora½ c³¼±ya gaºhant² viya ma½ vippak±ra½ p±pessat²”ti cintetv± ±gatomh²ti. “Bhikkhu, tattheva tay± vasitu½ vaµµat²”ti “na sakkomi, bhante, n±ha½ tattha vasiss±m²”ti. “Tena hi tva½, bhikkhu, ekameva rakkhitu½ sakkhissas²”ti. “Ki½, bhante”ti? “Tava cittameva rakkha, citta½ n±meta½ durakkha½, tva½ attano cittameva niggaºha, m± añña½ kiñci cintayi, citta½ n±meta½ dunniggahan”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–

Tattha citta½ n±meta½ dukkhena niggayhat²ti dunniggaha½. Lahu½ uppajjati ca nirujjhati c±ti lahu. Tassa dunniggahassa lahuno. Yatthak±manip±tinoti yattha katthacideva nipatanas²lassa. Etañhi labhitabbaµµh±na½ v± alabhitabbaµµh±na½ v± yuttaµµh±na½ v± ayuttaµµh±na½ v± na j±n±ti, neva j±ti½ oloketi, na gotta½, na vaya½. Yattha yattha icchati, tattha tattheva nipatat²ti “yatthak±manip±t²”ti vuccati. Tassa evar³passa cittassa damatho s±dhu cat³hi ariyamaggehi dantabh±vo yath± nibbisevana½ hoti, tath± katabh±vo s±dhu. Ki½ k±raº±? Idañhi citta½ danta½ sukh±vaha½ nibbisevana½ kata½ maggaphalasukha½ paramatthanibb±nasukhañca ±vahat²ti.
Desan±pariyos±ne sampattaparis±ya bah³ sot±pann±dayo ahesu½, mah±janassa s±tthik± dhammadesan± j±t±ti.
Satth± tassa bhikkhuno ima½ ov±da½ datv±, “gaccha, bhikkhu, añña½ kiñci acintayitv± tattheva vas±h²”ti pahiºi. So bhikkhu satthu santik± ov±da½ labhitv± tattha agam±si. Kiñci bahiddh± cintana½ n±ma na cintesi. Mah±-up±sik±pi dibbena cakkhun± olokent² thera½ disv±, “id±ni ov±dad±yaka½ ±cariya½ labhitv± pun±gato mama putto”ti attano ñ±ºeneva paricchinditv± tassa sapp±y±h±ra½ paµiy±detv± ad±si. So sapp±yabhojana½ sevitv± katip±heneva arahatta½ patv± maggaphalasukhena v²tin±mento “aho mah±-up±sik± mayha½ patiµµh± j±t±, aha½ ima½ niss±ya bhavanissaraºa½ pattomh²”ti cintetv±, “imasmi½ t±va me attabh±ve patiµµh± j±t±, sa½s±re pana me sa½sarantassa aññesupi attabh±vesu aya½ patiµµh± bh³tapubb±, no”ti upadh±rento ek³na-attabh±vasata½ anussari.
