32. Sundarasamuddattheravatthu

Yodha k±meti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto sundarasamuddatthera½ ±rabbha kathesi.
S±vatthiya½ kireko kulaputto sundarasamuddakum±ro n±ma catt±l²sakoµivibhave mah±kule nibbatto. So ekadivasa½ pacch±bhatta½ gandham±l±dihattha½ mah±jana½ dhammassavanatth±ya jetavana½ gacchanta½ disv± “kaha½ gacchath±”ti pucchitv± “satthu santika½ dhammassavanatth±y±”ti vutte “ahampi gamiss±m²”ti vatv± tena saddhi½ gantv± parisapariyante nis²di. Satth± tassa ±saya½ viditv± anupubbi½ katha½ kathesi. So “na sakk± ag±ra½ ajjh±vasantena saªkhalikhita½ brahmacariya½ caritun”ti satthu dhammakatha½ niss±ya pabbajj±ya j±tuss±ho paris±ya pakkant±ya satth±ra½ pabbajja½ y±citv± “m±t±pit³hi ananuññ±ta½ tath±gat± na pabb±jent²”ti sutv± geha½ gantv± raµµhap±lakulaputt±dayo viya mahantena v±y±mena m±t±pitaro anuj±n±petv± satthu santike pabbajitv± laddh³pasampado “ki½ me idha v±sen±”ti tato nikkhamitv± r±jagaha½ gantv± piº¹±ya caranto v²tin±mesi.
Athekadivasa½ s±vatthiya½ tassa m±t±pitaro ekasmi½ chaºadivase mahantena sirisobhaggena tassa sah±yakakum±rake k²¼am±ne disv± “amh±ka½ puttassa ida½ dullabha½ j±tan”ti paridevi½su. Tasmi½ khaºe ek± gaºik± ta½ kula½ gantv± tassa m±tara½ rodam±na½ nisinna½ disv± “amma, ki½ k±raº± rodas²”ti pucchi. “Putta½ anussaritv± rod±m²”ti. “Kaha½ pana so, amm±”ti? “Bhikkh³su pabbajito”ti. “Ki½ uppabb±jetu½ na vaµµat²”ti? “Vaµµati, na pana icchati, ito nikkhamitv± r±jagaha½ gato”ti. “Sac±ha½ ta½ uppabb±jeyya½, ki½ me kareyy±th±”ti? “Imassa te kulassa kuµumbas±mini½ kareyy±m±”ti. Tena hi me paribbaya½ deth±ti paribbaya½ gahetv± mahantena pariv±rena r±jagaha½ gantv± tassa piº¹±ya caraºav²thi½ sallakkhetv± tattheka½ niv±sageha½ gahetv± p±tova paº²ta½ ±h±ra½ paµiy±detv± therassa piº¹±ya paviµµhak±le bhikkha½ datv± katip±haccayena, “bhante, idheva nis²ditv± bhattakicca½ karoth±”ti patta½ gaºhi. So pattamad±si.
Atha na½ paº²tena ±h±rena parivisitv±, “bhante, idheva piº¹±ya caritu½ ph±sukan”ti vatv± katip±ha½ ±linde nis²d±petv± bhojetv± d±rake p³vehi saªgaºhitv± “etha tumhe therassa ±gatak±le mayi v±rentiy±pi idh±gantv± raja½ uµµh±peyy±th±”ti ±ha. Te punadivase therassa bhojanavel±ya t±ya v±riyam±n±pi raja½ uµµh±pesu½. S± punadivase, “bhante, d±rak± v±riyam±n±pi mama vacana½ asuºitv± idha raja½ uµµh±penti, antogehe nis²dath±”ti anto nis²d±petv± katip±ha½ bhojesi. Puna d±rake saªgaºhitv± “tumhe may± v±riyam±n±pi therassa bhojanak±le mah±sadda½ kareyy±th±”ti ±ha. Te tath± kari½su. S± punadivase, “bhante, imasmi½ µh±ne ativiya mah±saddo hoti, d±rak± may± v±riyam±n±pi vacana½ na gaºhanti, uparip±s±deyeva nis²dath±”ti vatv± therena adhiv±site thera½ purato katv± p±s±da½ abhiruhant² dv±r±ni pidaham±n±va p±s±da½ abhiruhi. Thero ukkaµµhasapad±nac±riko sam±nopi rasataºh±ya baddho tass± vacanena sattabh³mika½ p±s±da½ abhiruhi.
S± thera½ nis²d±petv± “catt±l²s±ya khalu, samma, puººamukha µh±nehi itth² purisa½ acc±vadati vijambhati vinamati gilasati vilajjati nakhena nakha½ ghaµµeti, p±dena p±da½ akkamati, kaµµhena pathavi½ vilikhati, d±raka½ ullaªgheti olaªgheti, k²¼ati k²¼±peti, cumbati cumb±peti, bhuñjati bhuñj±peti, dad±ti ±y±cati, katamanukaroti, ucca½ bh±sati, n²ca½ bh±sati, avicca½ bh±sati, vivicca½ bh±sati, naccena g²tena v±ditena roditena vilasitena vibh³sitena jagghati, pekkhati, kaµi½ c±leti, guyhabhaº¹aka½ c±leti, ³ru½ vivarati, ³ru½ pidahati, thana½ dasseti, kaccha½ dasseti, n±bhi½ dasseti, akkhi½ nikhaºati, bhamuka½ ukkhipati, oµµha½ palikhati, jivha½ nill±leti, dussa½ muñcati, dussa½ bandhati, sirasa½ muñcati, sirasa½ bandhat²”ti (j±. 2.21.300) eva½ ±gata½ itthikutta½ itthil²la½ dassetv± tassa purato µhit± ima½ g±tham±ha–
“Alattakakat± p±d±, p±duk±ruyha vesiy±;
tuvampi daharo mama, ahampi dahar± tava;
ubhopi pabbajiss±ma, jiºº± daº¹apar±yaº±”ti. (Therag±. 459, 462).
Therassa “aho vata me bh±riya½ anupadh±retv± katakamman”ti mah±sa½vego udap±di. Tasmi½ khaºe satth± pañcacatt±l²sayojanamatthake jetavane nisinnova ta½ k±raºa½ disv± sita½ p±tv±k±si. Atha na½ ±nandatthero pucchi– “bhante, ko nu kho hetu, ko paccayo sitassa p±tukamm±y±”ti. ¾nanda, r±jagahanagare sattabh³mikap±s±datale sundarasamuddassa ca bhikkhuno gaºik±ya ca saªg±mo vattat²ti. Kassa nu kho, bhante, jayo bhavissati, kassa par±jayoti? Satth±, “±nanda, sundarasamuddassa jayo bhavissati, gaºik±ya par±jayo”ti therassa jaya½ pak±setv± tattha nisinnakova obh±sa½ pharitv± “bhikkhu ubhopi k±me nirapekkho pajah±”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
415. “Yodha k±me pahantv±na, an±g±ro paribbaje;
k±mabhavaparikkh²ºa½, tamaha½ br³mi br±hmaºan”ti.
Tassattho– yo puggalo idha loke ubhopi k±me hitv± an±g±ro hutv± paribbajati, ta½ parikkh²ºak±mañceva parikkh²ºabhavañca aha½ br±hmaºa½ vad±m²ti attho.
Desan±vas±ne so thero arahatta½ patv± iddhibalena veh±sa½ abbhuggantv± kaººik±maº¹ala½ vinivijjhitv± satthu sar²ra½ thomentoyeva ±gantv± satth±ra½ vandi. Dhammasabh±yampi katha½ samuµµh±pesu½, “±vuso, jivh±viññeyya½ rasa½ niss±ya mana½ naµµho sundarasamuddatthero, satth± panassa avassayo j±to”ti. Satth± ta½ katha½ sutv± “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbep±ha½ etassa rasataºh±ya baddhamanassa avassayo j±toyev±”ti vatv± tehi y±cito tassatthassa pak±sanattha½ at²ta½ ±haritv±–
“Na kiratthi rasehi p±piyo,
±v±sehi v± santhavehi v±;
v±tamiga½ gahananissita½,
vasam±nesi rasehi sañjayo”ti. (J±. 1.1.14)–

Ekakanip±te ima½ v±tamigaj±taka½ vitth±retv± “tad± sundarasamuddo v±tamigo ahosi, ima½ pana g±tha½ vatv± tassa vissajj±pet± rañño mah±macco ahamev±”ti j±taka½ samodh±nes²ti.
