R±j± sahassath±ma½ siªgadhanu½ ±d±ya jiya½ pothetv± visap²ta½ sara½ sannayhitv± s±m±vati½ dhure katv± sabb± t± paµip±µiy± µhap±petv± s±m±vatiy± ure sara½ vissajjesi. “Sammuyh±mi pamuyh±mi, sabb± muyhanti me dis±;
s±m±vati ma½ t±yassu, tvañca me saraºa½ bhav±”ti.
S± tassa vacana½ sutv±, “s±dhu, deva, ma½ saraºa½ gacch±”ti avatv±, “yamaha½, mah±r±ja, saraºa½ gat±, tameva tvampi saraºa½ gacch±h²”ti ida½ vatv± s±m±vat² samm±sambuddhas±vik±–
“M± ma½ tva½ saraºa½ gaccha, yamaha½ saraºa½ gat±;
esa buddho mah±r±ja, esa buddho anuttaro;
saraºa½ gaccha ta½ buddha½, tvañca me saraºa½ bhav±”ti.–

¾ha R±j± tassa vacana½ sutv±, “id±n±ha½ atirekatara½ bh±y±m²”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–

“Esa bhiyyo pamuyh±mi, sabb± muyhanti me dis±;
s±m±vati ma½ t±yassu, tvañca me saraºa½ bhav±”ti.
Atha na½ s± purimanayeneva puna paµikkhipitv±, “tena hi tvañca saraºa½ gacch±mi, satth±rañca saraºa½ gacch±mi, varañca te damm²”ti vutte, “varo gahito hotu, mah±r±j±”ti ±ha. So satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± saraºa½ gantv± nimantetv± buddhappamukhassa bhikkhusaªghassa satt±ha½ mah±d±na½ datv± s±m±vati½ ±mantetv±, “uµµhehi, vara½ gaºh±”ti ±ha. “Mah±r±ja, mayha½ hiraññ±d²hi attho natthi, ima½ pana me vara½ dehi, tath± karohi, yath± satth± nibaddha½ pañcahi bhikkhusatehi saddhi½ idh±gacchati, dhamma½ suºiss±m²”ti. R±j± satth±ra½ vanditv±, “bhante, pañcahi bhikkhusatehi saddhi½ nibaddha½ idh±gacchatha, s±m±vatimissik± ‘dhamma½ suºiss±m±’ti vadant²”ti ±ha. “Mah±r±ja, buddh±na½ n±ma ekasmi½ µh±ne nibaddha½ gantu½ na vaµµati, mah±jano satth±ra½ ±gamanatth±ya pacc±s²sat²”ti. “Tena hi, bhante, eka½ bhikkhu½ ±º±peth±”ti. Satth± ±nandatthera½ ±º±pesi. So tato paµµh±ya pañca bhikkhusat±ni ±d±ya nibaddha½ r±jakula½ gacchati. T±pi deviyo nibaddha½ thera½ sapariv±ra½ bhojenti, dhamma½ suºanti. T± ekadivasa½ therassa dhammakatha½ sutv± pas²ditv±, pañcahi uttar±saªgasatehi dhammap³ja½ aka½su Ekeko uttar±saªgo pañca sat±ni pañca sat±ni agghati.
