V±c±nurakkh²ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± ve¼uvane viharanto s³karapeta½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Ekasmiñhi divase mah±moggall±natthero lakkhaºattherena saddhi½ gijjhak³µ± orohanto ekasmi½ padese sita½ p±tv±k±si. “Ko nu kho, ±vuso, hetu sitassa p±tukamm±y±”ti lakkhaºattherena puµµho “ak±lo, ±vuso, imassa pañhassa, satthu santike ma½ puccheyy±th±”ti vatv± lakkhaºattherena saddhi½yeva r±jagahe piº¹±ya caritv± piº¹ap±tapaµikkanto ve¼uvana½ gantv± satth±ra½ vanditv± nis²di. Atha na½ lakkhaºatthero tamattha½ pucchi. So ±ha– “±vuso, aha½ eka½ peta½ addasa½, tassa tig±vutappam±ºa½ sar²ra½, ta½ manussasar²rasadisa½. S²sa½ pana s³karassa viya, tassa mukhe naªguµµha½ j±ta½, tato pu¼av± paggharanti. Sv±ha½ ‘na me evar³po satto diµµhapubbo’ti ta½ disv± sita½ p±tv±k±sin”ti. Satth± “cakkhubh³t± vata, bhikkhave, mama s±vak± viharant²”ti vatv± “ahampeta½ satta½ bodhimaº¹eyeva addasa½. ‘Ye pana me na saddaheyyu½, tesa½ ahit±ya ass±’ti paresa½ anukamp±ya na kathesi½. Id±ni moggall±na½ sakkhi½ katv± kathemi. Sacca½, bhikkhave, moggall±no ±h±”ti kathesi. Ta½ sutv± bhikkh³ satth±ra½ pucchi½su– “ki½ pana, bhante, tassa pubbakamman”ti. Satth± “tena hi, bhikkhave, suº±th±”ti at²ta½ ±haritv± tassa pubbakamma½ kathesi.
Kassapabuddhak±le kira ekasmi½ g±mak±v±se dve ther± samaggav±sa½ vasi½su. Tesu eko saµµhivasso, eko ek³nasaµµhivasso Ek³nasaµµhivasso itarassa pattac²vara½ ±d±ya vicari, s±maºero viya sabba½ vattapaµivatta½ ak±si. Tesa½ ekam±tukucchiya½ vutthabh±t³na½ viya samaggav±sa½ vasant±na½ vasanaµµh±na½ eko dhammakathiko ±gami. Tad± ca dhammassavanadivaso hoti. Ther± na½ saªgaºhitv± “dhammakatha½ no kathehi sappuris±”ti ±ha½su. So dhammakatha½ kathesi. Ther± “dhammakathiko no laddho”ti tuµµhacitt± punadivase ta½ ±d±ya dhurag±ma½ piº¹±ya pavisitv± tattha katabhattakicc±, “±vuso, hiyyo kathitaµµh±natova thoka½ dhamma½ katheh²”ti manuss±na½ dhamma½ kath±pesu½. Manuss± dhammakatha½ sutv± punadivasatth±yapi nimantayi½su. Eva½ samant± bhikkh±c±rag±mesu dve dve divase ta½ ±d±ya piº¹±ya cari½su.
Dhammakathiko cintesi– “ime dvepi atimuduk±, may± ubhopete pal±petv± imasmi½ vih±re vasitu½ vaµµat²”ti. So s±ya½ ther³paµµh±na½ gantv± bhikkh³na½ uµµh±ya gatak±le nivattitv± mah±thera½ upasaªkamitv±, “bhante, kiñci vattabba½ atth²”ti vatv± “kathehi, ±vuso”ti vutte thoka½ cintetv±, “bhante, kath± n±mes± mah±s±vajj±”ti vatv± akathetv±va pakk±mi. Anutherass±pi santika½ gantv± tatheva ak±si. So dutiyadivase tatheva katv± tatiyadivase tesa½ ativiya kotuhale uppanne mah±thera½ upasaªkamitv±, “bhante, kiñci vattabba½ atthi, tumh±ka½ pana santike vattu½ na visah±m²”ti vatv± therena “hotu, ±vuso, katheh²”ti nipp²¼ito ±ha– “ki½ pana, bhante, anuthero tumhehi saddhi½ sa½bhogo”ti. Sappurisa, ki½ n±meta½ kathesi, maya½ ekam±tukucchiya½ vutthaputt± viya, amhesu ekena ya½ laddha½, itaren±pi laddhameva hoti. May± etassa ettaka½ k±la½ aguºo n±ma na diµµhapubboti? Eva½, bhanteti. ¾m±vusoti. Bhante ma½ anuthero evam±ha– “sappurisa, tva½ kulaputto, aya½ mah±thero lajj² pesaloti etena saddhi½ sa½bhoga½ karonto upaparikkhitv± kareyy±s²”ti evamesa ma½ ±gatadivasato paµµh±ya vadat²ti.
Mah±thero ta½ sutv±va kuddham±naso daº¹±bhihata½ kul±labh±jana½ viya bhijji. Itaropi uµµh±ya anutherassa santika½ gantv± tatheva avoca, sopi tatheva bhijji. Tesu kiñc±pi ettaka½ k±la½ ekopi visu½ piº¹±ya paviµµhapubbo n±ma natthi, punadivase pana visu½ piº¹±ya pavisitv± anuthero puretara½ ±gantv± upaµµh±nas±l±ya aµµh±si, mah±thero pacch± agam±si. Ta½ disv± anuthero cintesi– “ki½ nu kho imassa pattac²vara½ paµiggahetabba½, ud±hu no”ti. So “na id±ni paµiggahess±m²”ti cintetv±pi “hotu, na may± eva½ katapubba½, may± attano vatta½ h±petu½ na vaµµat²”ti citta½ muduka½ katv± thera½ upasaªkamitv±, “bhante, pattac²vara½ deth±”ti ±ha. Itaro “gaccha, dubbin²ta, na tva½ mama pattac²vara½ paµiggahetu½ yuttar³po”ti acchara½ paharitv± tenapi “±ma, bhante, ahampi tumh±ka½ pattac²vara½ na paµiggaºh±m²ti cintesin”ti vutte, “±vuso navaka, ki½ tva½ cintesi, mama imasmi½ vih±re koci saªgo atth²”ti ±ha. Itaropi “tumhe pana, bhante, ki½ eva½ maññatha ‘mama imasmi½ vih±re koci saªgo atth²’ti, eso te vih±ro”ti vatv± pattac²vara½ ±d±ya nikkhami. Itaropi nikkhami. Te ubhopi ekamaggen±pi agantv± eko pacchimadv±rena magga½ gaºhi, eko puratthimadv±rena. Dhammakathiko, “bhante, m± eva½ karotha, m± eva½ karoth±”ti vatv± “tiµµh±vuso”ti vutte nivatti. So punadivase dhurag±ma½ paviµµho manussehi, “bhante, bhaddant± kuhin”ti vutte, “±vuso, m± pucchatha, tumh±ka½ kulupak± hiyyo kalaha½ katv± nikkhami½su, aha½ y±cantopi nivattetu½ n±sakkhin”ti ±ha. Tesu b±l± tuºh² ahesu½. Paº¹it± pana “amhehi ettaka½ k±la½ bhaddant±na½ kiñci khalita½ n±ma na diµµhapubba½, tesa½ bhaya½ ima½ niss±ya uppanna½ bhavissat²”ti domanassappatt± ahesu½.
Tepi ther± gataµµh±ne cittasukha½ n±ma na labhi½su. Mah±thero cintesi– “aho navakassa bhikkhuno bh±riya½ kamma½ kata½, muhutta½ diµµha½ n±ma ±gantukabhikkhu½ ±ha– ‘mah±therena saddhi½ sa½bhoga½ m± ak±s²”’ti. Itaropi cintesi– “aho mah±therassa bh±riya½ kamma½ kata½, muhutta½ diµµha½ n±ma ±gantukabhikkhu½ ±ha– ‘imin± saddhi½ sa½bhoga½ m± ak±s²”’ti. Tesa½ neva sajjh±yo na manasik±ro ahosi. Te vassasataccayena pacchimadis±ya eka½ vih±ra½ agama½su. Tesa½ ekameva sen±sana½ p±puºi. Mah±there pavisitv± mañcake nisinne itaropi p±visi. Mah±thero ta½ disv±va sañj±nitv± ass³ni sandh±retu½ n±sakkhi. Itaropi mah±thera½ sañj±nitv± assupuººehi nettehi “kathemi nu kho m± kathem²”ti cintetv± “na ta½ saddheyyar³pan”ti thera½ vanditv± “aha½, bhante, ettaka½ k±la½ tumh±ka½ pattac²vara½ gahetv± vicari½, api nu kho me k±yadv±r±d²su tumhehi kiñci as±ruppa½ diµµhapubban”ti. “Na diµµhapubba½, ±vuso”ti. Atha kasm± dhammakathika½ avacuttha “m± etena saddhi½ sa½bhogamak±s²”ti? “N±ha½, ±vuso, eva½ kathemi, tay± kira mama antare eva½ vuttan”ti. “Ahampi, bhante, na vad±m²”ti. Te tasmi½ khaºe “tena amhe bhindituk±mena eva½ vutta½ bhavissat²”ti ñatv± aññamañña½ accaya½ desayi½su. Te vassasata½ cittass±da½ alabhant± ta½ divasa½ samagg± hutv± “±y±ma, na½ tato vih±r± nikka¹¹hiss±m±”ti pakkamitv± anupubbena ta½ vih±ra½ agama½su.
Dhammakathikopi there disv± pattac²vara½ paµiggahetu½ upagacchi. Ther± “na tva½ imasmi½ vih±re vasitu½ yuttar³po”ti acchara½ pahari½su. So saºµh±tu½ asakkonto t±vadeva nikkhamitv± pal±yi. Atha na½ v²sati vassasahass±ni kato samaºadhammo sandh±retu½ n±sakkhi, tato cavitv± av²cimhi nibbatto eka½ buddhantara½ paccitv± id±ni gijjhak³µe vuttappak±rena attabh±vena dukkha½ anubhot²ti.
Satth± ida½ tassa pubbakamma½ ±haritv±, “bhikkhave, bhikkhun± n±ma k±y±d²hi upasantar³pena bhavitabban”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
281. “V±c±nurakkh² manas± susa½vuto,
k±yena ca n±kusala½ kayir±;
ete tayo kammapathe visodhaye,
±r±dhaye maggamisippaveditan”ti.
Tassattho– catunna½ vac²duccarit±na½ vajjanena v±c±nurakkh² abhijjh±d²na½ anupp±danena manas± ca suµµhu sa½vuto p±º±tip±t±dayo pajahanto k±yena ca akusala½ na kayir±. Eva½ ete tayo kammapathe visodhaye. Eva½ visodhento hi s²lakkhandh±d²na½ esakehi buddh±d²hi is²hi pavedita½ aµµhaªgikamagga½ ±r±dheyy±ti.
