7. Aññatarabr±hmaºavatthu

Na tena bhikkhu so hot²ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto aññatara½ br±hmaºa½ ±rabbha kathesi.
So kira b±hirasamaye pabbajitv± bhikkha½ caranto cintesi– “samaºo gotamo attano s±vake bhikkh±ya caraºena ‘bhikkh³’ti vadati, mampi ‘bhikkh³’ti vattu½ vaµµat²”ti. So satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv±, “bho gotama, ahampi bhikkha½ caritv± j²v±mi, mampi ‘bhikkh³’ti vadeh²”ti ±ha. Atha na½ satth± “n±ha½, br±hmaºa, bhikkhanamattena bhikkh³ti vad±mi. Na hi vissa½ dhamma½ sam±d±ya vattanto bhikkhu n±ma hoti. Yo pana sabbasaªkh±resu saªkh±ya carati, so bhikkhu n±m±”ti vatv± im± g±th± abh±si–
266. “Na tena bhikkhu so hoti, y±vat± bhikkhate pare;
vissa½ dhamma½ sam±d±ya, bhikkhu hoti na t±vat±.
267. “Yodha puññañca p±pañca, b±hetv± brahmacariyav±;
saªkh±ya loke carati, sa ve bhikkh³ti vuccat²”ti.
Tattha y±vat±ti yattakena pare bhikkhate, tena bhikkhanamattena bhikkhu n±ma na hoti. Vissanti visama½ dhamma½, vissagandha½ v± k±yakamm±dika½ dhamma½ sam±d±ya caranto bhikkhu n±ma na hoti. Yodh±ti yo idha s±sane ubhayampeta½ puññañca p±pañca maggabrahmacariyena b±hetv± panuditv± brahmacariyav± hoti. Saªkh±y±ti ñ±ºena. Loketi khandh±diloke “ime ajjhattik± khandh±, ime b±hir±”ti eva½ sabbepi dhamme j±nitv± carati, so tena ñ±ºena kiles±na½ bhinnatt± “bhikkh³”ti vuccat²ti attho.
