3. Ekud±nakh²º±savattheravatthu

Na t±vat±ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto ekud±natthera½ n±ma kh²º±sava½ ±rabbha kathesi.
So kira ekakova ekasmi½ vanasaº¹e viharati, ekamevassa ud±na½ paguºa½–
“Adhicetaso appamajjato,
munino monapathesu sikkhato;
sok± na bhavanti t±dino,
upasantassa sad± sat²mato”ti. (P±ci. 153; ud±. 37).
So kira uposathadivasesu sayameva dhammassavana½ ghosetv± ima½ g±tha½ vadati. Pathavi-undriyanasaddo viya devat±na½ s±dhuk±rasaddo hoti. Athekasmi½ uposathadivase pañcapañcasatapariv±r± dve tipiµakadhar± bhikkh³ tassa vasanaµµh±na½ agama½su. So te disv±va tuµµham±naso “s±dhu vo kata½ idha ±gacchantehi, ajja maya½ tumh±ka½ dhamma½ suºiss±m±”ti ±ha. Atthi pana, ±vuso, idha dhamma½ sotuk±m±ti. Atthi, bhante, aya½ vanasaº¹o dhammassavanadivase devat±na½ s±dhuk±rasaddena ekaninn±do hot²ti. Tesu eko tipiµakadharo dhamma½ os±resi, eko kathesi. Ekadevat±pi s±dhuk±ra½ n±d±si. Te ±ha½su– “tva½, ±vuso, dhammassavanadivase imasmi½ vanasaº¹e devat± mahantena saddena s±dhuk±ra½ dent²ti vadesi, ki½ n±metan”ti. Bhante, aññesu divasesu s±dhuk±rasaddena ekaninn±do eva hoti, na ajja pana j±n±mi “kimetan”ti. “Tena hi, ±vuso, tva½ t±va dhamma½ katheh²”ti. So b²jani½ gahetv± ±sane nisinno tameva g±tha½ vadesi. Devat± mahantena saddena s±dhuk±ramada½su. Atha nesa½ pariv±r± bhikkh³ ujjh±yi½su “imasmi½ vanasaº¹e devat± mukholokanena s±dhuk±ra½ dadanti, tipiµakadharabhikkh³su ettaka½ bhaºantesupi kiñci pasa½sanamattampi avatv± ekena mahallakattherena ekag±th±ya kathit±ya mah±saddena s±dhuk±ra½ dadant²”ti. Tepi vih±ra½ gantv± satthu tamattha½ ±rocesu½.
Satth± “n±ha½, bhikkhave, yo bahumpi uggaºhati v± bh±sati v±, ta½ dhammadharoti vad±mi. Yo pana ekampi g±tha½ uggaºhitv± sacc±ni paµivijjhati, aya½ dhammadharo n±m±”ti vatv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–
259. “Na t±vat± dhammadharo, y±vat± bahu bh±sati;
yo ca appampi sutv±na, dhamma½ k±yena passati;
sa ve dhammadharo hoti, yo dhamma½ nappamajjat²”ti.
Tattha y±vat±ti yattakena uggahaºadh±raºav±can±din± k±raºena bahu½ bh±sati, t±vattakena dhammadharo na hoti, va½s±nurakkhako pana paveºip±lako n±ma hoti. Yo ca appamp²ti yo pana appamattakampi sutv± dhammamanv±ya atthamanv±ya dhamm±nudhammappaµipanno hutv± n±mak±yena dukkh±d²ni parij±nanto catusaccadhamma½ passati, sa ve dhammadharo hoti. Yo dhamma½ nappamajjat²ti yopi ±raddhav²riyo hutv± ajja ajjev±ti paµivedha½ ±kaªkhanto dhamma½ nappamajjati, ayampi dhammadharoyev±ti attho.
