Dad±ti veti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto tissadahara½ n±ma ±rabbha kathesi.
So kira an±thapiº¹ikassa gahapatino vis±kh±ya up±sik±y±ti pañcanna½ ariyas±vakakoµ²na½ d±na½ nindanto vicari, asadisad±nampi nindiyeva. Tesa½ tesa½ d±nagge s²tala½ labhitv± “s²talan”ti nindi, uºha½ labhitv± “uºhan”ti nindi. Appa½ dentepi “ki½ ime appamattaka½ dent²”ti nindi, bahu½ dentepi “imesa½ gehe µhapanaµµh±na½ maññe natthi, nanu n±ma bhikkh³na½ y±panamatta½ d±tabba½, ettaka½ y±gubhatta½ niratthakameva vissajjat²”ti nindi. Attano pana ñ±take ±rabbha “aho amh±ka½ ñ±tak±na½ geha½ cat³hi dis±hi ±gat±gat±na½ bhikkh³na½ op±nabh³tan”ti-±d²ni vatv± pasa½sa½ pavattesi. So panekassa dov±rikassa putto janapada½ vicarantehi va¹¹hak²hi saddhi½ vicaranto s±vatthi½ patv± pabbajito. Atha na½ bhikkh³ eva½ manuss±na½ d±n±d²ni nindanta½ disv± “pariggaºhiss±ma nan”ti cintetv±, “±vuso, tava ñ±tak± kaha½ vasant²”ti pucchitv± “asukag±me n±m±”ti sutv±va katipaye dahare pesesu½. Te tattha gantv± g±mav±sikehi ±sanas±l±ya nis²d±petv± katasakk±r± pucchi½su– “imamh± g±m± nikkhamitv± pabbajito tisso n±ma daharo atthi. Tassa katame ñ±tak±”ti? Manuss± “idha kulagehato nikkhamitv± pabbajitad±rako natthi, ki½ nu kho ime vadant²”ti cintetv±, “bhante, eko dov±rikaputto va¹¹hak²hi saddhi½ vicaritv± pabbajitoti suºoma, ta½ sandh±ya vadetha maññe”ti ±ha½su. Daharabhikkh³ tissassa tattha issarañ±tak±na½ abh±va½ ñatv± s±vatthi½ gantv± “ak±raºameva, bhante, tisso vilapanto vicarat²”ti ta½ pavatti½ bhikkh³na½ ±rocesu½. Bhikkh³pi ta½ tath±gatassa ±rocesu½.
Satth± “na, bhikkhave, id±neva vikatthento vicarati, pubbepi vikatthakova ahos²”ti vatv± bhikkh³hi y±cito at²ta½ ±haritv±–
“Bahumpi so vikattheyya, añña½ janapada½ gato;
anv±gantv±na d³seyya, bhuñja bhoge kaµ±hak±”ti. (J±. 1.1.125)–

Ima½ kaµ±haj±taka½ vitth±retv±, “bhikkhave, yo hi puggalo parehi appake v± bahuke v± l³khe v± paº²te v± dinne aññesa½ v± datv± attano adinne maªku hoti, tassa jh±na½ v± vipassana½ v± maggaphal±d²ni v± na uppajjant²”ti vatv± dhamma½ desento im± g±th± abh±si–

249. “Dad±ti ve yath±saddha½, yath±pas±dana½ jano;
tattha yo ca maªku hoti, paresa½ p±nabhojane;
na so div± v± ratti½ v±, sam±dhimadhigacchati.
250. “Yassa ceta½ samucchinna½, m³laghacca½ sam³hata½;
sa ve div± v± ratti½ v±, sam±dhimadhigacchat²”ti.
Tattha dad±ti ve yath±saddhanti l³khapaº²t±d²su ya½kiñci dento jano yath±saddha½ attano saddh±nur³pameva deti. Yath±pas±dananti theranav±d²su cassa yasmi½ yasmi½ pas±do uppajjati, tassa dento yath±pas±dana½ attano pas±d±nur³pameva deti. Tatth±ti tasmi½ parassa d±ne “may± appa½ v± laddha½, l³kha½ v± laddhan”ti maªkubh±va½ ±pajjati. Sam±dhinti so puggalo div± v± ratti½ v± upac±rappan±vasena v± maggaphalavasena v± sam±dhi½ n±dhigacchati. Yassa cetanti yassa puggalassa eta½ ekesu µh±nesu maªkubh±vasaªkh±ta½ akusala½ samucchinna½ m³laghacca½ katv± arahattamaggañ±ºena sam³hata½, so vuttappak±ra½ sam±dhi½ adhigacchat²ti attho.
