4. L±lud±yittheravatthu

Asajjh±yamal±ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto l±lud±yitthera½ ±rabbha kathesi.
S±vatthiya½ kira pañcakoµimatt± ariyas±vak± vasanti, dve koµimatt± puthujjan± vasanti. Tesu ariyas±vak± purebhatta½ d±na½ datv± pacch±bhatta½ sappitelamadhuph±ºitavatth±d²ni gahetv± vih±ra½ gantv± dhammakatha½ suºanti. Dhamma½ sutv± gamanak±le ca s±riputtamoggall±n±na½ guºakatha½ kathenti. Ud±yitthero tesa½ katha½ sutv± “etesa½ t±va dhamma½ sutv± tumhe eva½ kathetha, mama dhammakatha½ sutv± ki½ nu kho na kathessath±”ti vadati. Manuss± tassa katha½ sutv± “aya½ eko dhammakathiko bhavissati, imassapi amhehi dhammakatha½ sotu½ vaµµat²”ti te ekadivasa½ thera½ y±citv±, “bhante, ajja amh±ka½ dhammassavanadivaso”ti saªghassa d±na½ datv±, “bhante, tumhe amh±ka½ div± dhammakatha½ katheyy±th±”ti ±ha½su. Sopi tesa½ adhiv±sesi.
Tehi dhammassavanavel±ya ±gantv±, “bhante, no dhamma½ katheth±”ti vutte l±lud±yitthero ±sane nis²ditv± cittab²jani½ gahetv± c±lento ekampi dhammapada½ adisv± “aha½ sarabhañña½ bhaºiss±mi, añño dhammakatha½ kathet³”ti vatv± otari. Te aññena dhammakatha½ kath±petv± sarabh±ºatth±ya puna ta½ ±sana½ ±ropayi½su. So punapi kiñci adisv± “aha½ ratti½ kathess±mi, añño sarabhañña½ bhaºat³”ti vatv± ±san± otari. Te aññena sarabhañña½ bhaº±petv± puna ratti½ thera½ ±nayi½su. So rattimpi kiñci adisv± “aha½ pacc³sak±le kathess±mi, ratti½ añño kathet³”ti vatv± otari. Te aññena ratti½ kath±petv± puna pacc³se ta½ ±nayi½su. So punapi kiñci n±ddasa. Mah±jano le¹¹udaº¹±d²ni gahetv±, “andhab±la, tva½ s±riputtamoggall±n±na½ vaººe kathiyam±ne evañcevañca vadesi, id±ni kasm± na kathes²”ti santajjetv± pal±yanta½ anubandhi. So pal±yanto ekiss± vaccakuµiy± pati.
Mah±jano katha½ samuµµh±pesi– “ajja l±lud±y² s±riputtamoggall±n±na½ guºakath±ya pavattam±n±ya uss³yanto attano dhammakathikabh±va½ pak±setv± manussehi sakk±ra½ katv± ‘dhamma½ suºom±’ti vutte catukkhattu½ ±sane nis²ditv± kathetabbayuttaka½ kiñci apassanto ‘tva½ amh±ka½ ayyehi s±riputtamoggall±nattherehi saddhi½ yugagg±ha½ gaºh±s²’ti le¹¹udaº¹±d²ni gahetv± santajjetv± pal±piyam±no vaccakuµiy± patito”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi eso g³thak³pe nimuggoyev±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±haritv±–
“Catuppado aha½ samma, tvampi samma catuppado;
ehi samma nivattassu, ki½ nu bh²to pal±yasi.
“Asucip³tilomosi, duggandho v±si s³kara;
sace yujjhituk±mosi, jaya½ samma dad±mi te”ti. (J±. 1.2.5-6)–

Ima½ j±taka½ vitth±retv± kathesi. Tad± s²ho s±riputto ahosi, s³karo l±lud±y²ti. Satth± ima½ dhammadesana½ ±haritv±, “bhikkhave, l±lud±yin± appamattakova dhammo uggahito, sajjh±ya½ pana neva ak±si, kiñci pariyatti½ uggahetv± tass± asajjh±yakaraºa½ malamev±”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–

241. “Asajjh±yamal± mant±, anuµµh±namal± ghar±;
mala½ vaººassa kosajja½, pam±do rakkhato malan”ti.
Tattha asajjh±yamal±ti y±k±ci pariyatti v± sippa½ v± yasm± asajjh±yantassa ananuyuñjantassa vinassati v± nirantara½ v± na upaµµh±ti, tasm± “asajjh±yamal± mant±”ti vutta½. Yasm± pana ghar±v±sa½ vasantassa uµµh±yuµµh±ya jiººapaµisaªkharaº±d²ni akarontassa ghara½ n±ma vinassati, tasm± “anuµµh±namal± ghar±”ti vutta½. Yasm± gihissa v± pabbajitassa v± kosajjavasena sar²rapaµijaggana½ v± parikkh±rapaµijaggana½ v± akarontassa k±yo dubbaººo hoti, tasm± “mala½ vaººassa kosajjan”ti vutta½. Yasm± g±vo rakkhantassa pam±davasena nidd±yantassa v± k²¼antassa v± t± g±vo atitthapakkhandan±din± v± v±¼amigacor±di-upaddavena v± paresa½ s±likhett±d²ni otaritv± kh±danavasena vin±sa½ ±pajjanti, sayampi daº¹a½ v± paribh±sa½ v± p±puº±ti, pabbajita½ v± pana cha dv±r±ni arakkhanta½ pam±davasena kiles± otaritv± s±san± c±venti, tasm± “pam±do rakkhato malan”ti vutta½. So hissa vin±s±vahanena malaµµh±niyatt± malanti attho.
