Sad± j±garam±n±nanti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± gijjhak³µe viharanto puººa½ n±ma r±jagahaseµµhino d±si½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Tass± kira ekadivasa½ koµµanatth±ya bahuv²hi½ ada½su. S± rattimpi d²pa½ j±letv± v²hi½ koµµent² vissamanatth±ya sedatintena gattena bahiv±te aµµh±si. Tasmi½ samaye dabbo mallaputto bhikkh³na½ sen±sanapaññ±pako ahosi. So dhammassavana½ sutv± attano attano sen±sana½ gacchant±na½ bhikkh³na½ aªguli½ j±letv± purato purato maggadesanatth±ya gacchanto bhikkh³na½ ±loka½ nimmini. Puºº± ten±lokena pabbate vicarante bhikkh³ disv± “aha½ t±va attano dukkhena upaddut± im±yapi vel±ya nidda½ na upemi, bhaddant± ki½ k±raº± na nidd±yant²”ti cintetv± “addh± kassaci bhikkhuno aph±suka½ v± bhavissati, d²ghaj±tikena v± upaddavo bhavissat²”ti sañña½ katv± p±tova kuº¹aka½ ±d±ya udakena temetv± hatthatale p³va½ katv± aªg±resu pacitv± ucchaªge katv± titthamagge kh±diss±m²ti ghaµa½ ±d±ya titth±bhimukh² p±y±si. Satth±pi g±ma½ piº¹±ya pavisitu½ tameva magga½ paµipajji.
S± satth±ra½ disv± cintesi– “aññesu divasesu satthari diµµhepi mama deyyadhammo na hoti, deyyadhamme sati satth±ra½ na pass±mi, id±ni me deyyadhammo ca atthi, satth± ca sammukh²bh³to. Sace l³kha½ v± paº²ta½ v±ti acintetv± gaºheyya, dadeyy±ha½ ima½ p³van”ti ghaµa½ ekamante nikkhipitv± satth±ra½ vanditv±, “bhante ima½ l³kha½ d±na½ paµiggaºhant± mama saªgaha½ karoth±”ti ±ha. Satth± ±nandatthera½ oloketv± tena n²haritv± dinna½ mah±r±jadattiya½ patta½ upan±metv± p³va½ gaºhi. Puºº±pi ta½ satthu patte patiµµhapetv±va pañcapatiµµhitena vanditv±, “bhante, tumhehi diµµhadhammoyeva me samijjhat³”ti ±ha. Satth± “eva½ hot³”ti µhitakova anumodana½ ak±si.
Puºº±pi cintesi– “kiñc±pi me satth± saªgaha½ karonto p³va½ gaºhi, na panida½ kh±dissati. Addh± purato k±kassa v± sunakhassa v± datv± rañño v± r±japuttassa v± geha½ gantv± paº²tabhojana½ bhuñjissat²”ti. Satth±pi “ki½ nu kho es± cintes²”ti tass± citt±c±ra½ ñatv± ±nandatthera½ oloketv± nis²dan±k±ra½ dassesi. Thero c²vara½ paññ±petv± ad±si. Satth± bahinagareyeva nis²ditv± bhattakicca½ ak±si. Devat± sakalacakkav±¼agabbhe devamanuss±na½ upakappanaka½ oja½ madhupaµala½ viya p²¼etv± tattha pakkhipi½su. Puºº± ca olokent² aµµh±si. Bhattakicc±vas±ne thero udaka½ ad±si. Satth± katabhattakicco puººa½ ±mantetv± “kasm± tva½ puººe mama s±vake paribhavas²”ti ±ha. Na paribhav±mi, bhanteti. Atha tay± mama s±vake oloketv± ki½ kathitanti? “Aha½ t±va imin± dukkhupaddavena nidda½ na upemi, bhaddant± kimattha½ nidda½ na upenti, addh± kassaci aph±suka½ v± bhavissati, d²ghaj±tikena v± upaddavo bhavissat²”ti ettaka½ may±, bhante, cintitanti. Satth± tass± vacana½ sutv± “puººe tva½ na t±va dukkhupaddavena nidd±yasi, mama s±vak± sad± j±gariyamanuyuttat±ya na nidd±yant²”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
226. “Sad± j±garam±n±na½, ahoratt±nusikkhina½;
nibb±na½ adhimutt±na½, attha½ gacchanti ±sav±”ti.
Tattha ahoratt±nusikkhinanti div± ca rattiñca tisso sikkh± sikkham±n±na½. Nibb±na½ adhimutt±nanti nibb±najjh±say±na½. Attha½ gacchant²ti evar³p±na½ sabbepi ±sav± attha½ vin±sa½ natthibh±va½ gacchant²ti attho.
Desan±vas±ne yath±µhit± puºº± sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi, sampattaparis±yapi s±tthik± dhammadesan± ahos²ti.
Satth± kuº¹aka-aªg±rap³vena bhattakicca½ katv± vih±ra½ agam±si. Bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½ “dukkara½ ±vuso, samm±sambuddhena kata½ puºº±ya dinnena kuº¹aka-aªg±rap³vena bhattakicca½ karonten±”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi may± im±ya dinnakuº¹aka½ paribhuttamev±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±haritv±–
“Bhutv± tiºaparigh±sa½, bhutv± ±c±makuº¹aka½;
eta½ te bhojana½ ±si, kasm± d±ni na bhuñjasi.
“Yattha posa½ na j±nanti, j±tiy± vinayena v±;
bahu½ tattha mah±brahme, api ±c±makuº¹aka½.
“Tvañca kho ma½ paj±n±si, y±dis±ya½ hayuttamo;
j±nanto j±nam±gamma, na te bhakkh±mi kuº¹akan”ti. (J±. 1.3.10-12)–
