5. Buddhapitubr±hmaºavatthu

Ahi½sak± yeti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± s±keta½ niss±ya añjanavane viharanto bhikkh³hi paµµhapañha½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Bhagavato kira bhikkhusaªghaparivutassa s±keta½ piº¹±ya pavisanak±le eko s±ketav±s² mahallakabr±hmaºo nagarato nikkhamanto antaragharadv±re dasabala½ disv± p±desu nipatitv± gopphakesu da¼ha½ gahetv±, “t±ta, nanu n±ma puttehi jiººak±le m±t±pitaro paµijaggitabb±, kasm± ettaka½ k±la½ amh±ka½ att±na½ na dassesi. May± t±va diµµhosi, m±tarampi passitu½ eh²”ti satth±ra½ gahetv± attano geha½ agam±si. Satth± tattha gantv± paññatte ±sane nis²di saddhi½ bhikkhusaªghena. Br±hmaº²pi ±gantv± satthu p±desu nipatitv±, “t±ta, ettaka½ k±la½ kuhi½ gatosi, nanu n±ma m±t±pitaro mahallakak±le upaµµh±tabb±”ti vatv± puttadh²taro “etha bh±tara½ vandath±”ti vand±pesi. Te ubhopi tuµµham±nas± buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ parivisitv±, “bhante, idheva nibaddha½ bhikkha½ gaºhath±”ti vatv± “buddh± n±ma ekaµµh±neyeva nibaddha½ bhikkha½ na gaºhant²”ti vutte, “tena hi, bhante, ye vo nimantetu½ ±gacchanti, te amh±ka½ santika½ pahiºeyy±th±”ti ±ha½su. Satth± tato paµµh±ya nimantetu½ ±gate “gantv± br±hmaºassa ±roceyy±th±”ti pesesi. Te gantv± “maya½ sv±tan±ya satth±ra½ nimantem±”ti br±hmaºa½ vadanti. Br±hmaºo punadivase attano gehato bhattabh±janas³peyyabh±jan±ni ±d±ya satthu nis²danaµµh±na½ gacchati. Aññatra pana nimantane asati satth± br±hmaºasseva gehe bhattakicca½ karoti. Te ubhopi attano deyyadhamma½ niccak±la½ tath±gatassa dent± dhammakatha½ suºant± an±g±miphala½ p±puºi½su.
Bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½, “±vuso, br±hmaºo ‘tath±gatassa suddhodano pit±, mah±m±y± m±t±’ti j±n±ti, j±nantova saddhi½ br±hmaºiy± tath±gata½ ‘amh±ka½ putto’ti vadati, satth±pi tatheva adhiv±seti. Ki½ nu kho k±raºan”ti? Satth± tesa½ katha½ sutv±, “bhikkhave, ubhopi te attano puttameva puttoti vadant²”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.
At²te, bhikkhave, aya½ br±hmaºo nirantara½ pañca j±tisat±ni mayha½ pit± ahosi, pañca j±tisat±ni c³¼apit±, pañca j±tisat±ni mah±pit±. S±pi me br±hmaº² nirantarameva pañca j±tisat±ni m±t± ahosi, pañca j±tisat±ni c³¼am±t±, pañca j±tisat±ni mah±m±t±. Ev±ha½ diya¹¹haj±tisahassa½ br±hmaºassa hatthe sa½va¹¹ho, diya¹¹haj±tisahassa½ br±hmaºiy± hattheti t²ºi j±tisahass±ni tesa½ puttabh±va½ dassetv± im± g±th± abh±si–
“Yasmi½ mano nivisati, cittañc±pi pas²dati;
adiµµhapubbake pose, k±ma½ tasmimpi vissase. (J±. 1.1.68).
“Pubbeva sanniv±sena, paccuppannahitena v±;
eva½ ta½ j±yate pema½, uppala½va yathodake”ti. (J±. 1.2.174).
Satth± tem±sameva ta½ kula½ niss±ya vih±si. Te ubhopi arahatta½ sacchikatv± parinibb±yi½su. Atha nesa½ mah±sakk±ra½ katv± ubhopi ekak³µ±g±rameva ±ropetv± n²hari½su. Satth±pi pañcasatabhikkhupariv±ro tehi saddhi½yeva ±¼±hana½ agam±si. “Buddh±na½ kira m±t±pitaro”ti mah±jano nikkhami. Satth±pi ±¼±hanasam²pe eka½ s±la½ pavisitv± aµµh±si. Manuss± satth±ra½ vanditv± ekamante µhatv±, “bhante, ‘m±t±pitaro vo k±lakat±’ti m± cintayitth±”ti satth±r± saddhi½ paµisanth±ra½ karonti. Satth± te “m± eva½ avacutth±”ti appaµikkhipitv± paris±ya ±saya½ oloketv± taªkhaº±nur³pa½ dhamma½ desento–
“Appa½ vata j²vita½ ida½,
ora½ vassasat±pi miyyati;
yo cepi aticca j²vati,
atha so jaras±pi miyyat²”ti. (Su. ni. 810; mah±ni. 39)–

Ida½ jar±sutta½ kathesi. Desan±vas±ne catur±s²tiy± p±ºasahass±na½ dhamm±bhisamayo ahosi. Bhikkh³ br±hmaºassa ca br±hmaºiy± ca parinibbutabh±va½ aj±nant±, “bhante, tesa½ ko abhisampar±yo”ti pucchi½su. Satth±, “bhikkhave, evar³p±na½ asekhamun²na½ abhisampar±yo n±ma natthi. Evar³p± hi accuta½ amata½ mah±nibb±nameva p±puºant²”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–

225. “Ahi½sak± ye munayo, nicca½ k±yena sa½vut±;
te yanti accuta½ µh±na½, yattha gantv± na socare”ti.
Tattha munayoti moneyyapaµipad±ya maggaphalapatt± asekhamunayo. K±yen±ti desan±mattameveta½, t²hipi dv±rehi susa½vut±ti attho. Accutanti sassata½. Ýh±nanti akuppaµµh±na½ dhuvaµµh±na½. Yatth±ti yasmi½ nibb±ne gantv± na socare na socanti na vihaññanti, ta½ µh±na½ gacchant²ti attho.
