So “appamattaka½ etan”ti ±patti½ adesetv± v²sati vassasahass±ni araññe samaºadhamma½ katv±pi maraºak±le erakapattena g²v±ya gahito viya ±patti½ desetuk±mopi añña½ bhikkhu½ apassam±no “aparisuddha½ me s²lan”ti uppannavippaµis±ro tato cavitv± ekarukkhadoºikan±vappam±ºo n±gar±j± hutv± nibbatti, erakapattotvevassa n±ma½ ahosi. So nibbattakkhaºeyeva attabh±va½ oloketv± “ettaka½ n±ma k±la½ samaºadhamma½ katv± ahetukayoniya½ maº¹³kabhakkhaµµh±ne nibbattomh²”ti vippaµis±r² ahosi. So aparabh±ge eka½ dh²tara½ labhitv± majjhe gaªg±ya udakapiµµhe mahanta½ phala½ ukkhipitv± dh²tara½ tasmi½ µhapetv± nacc±petv± g±y±pesi. Eva½ kirassa ahosi– “addh± aha½ idha imin± up±yena buddhe uppanne tassa uppannabh±va½ suºiss±m²”ti. Sakalajambud²pav±sino “n±gam±ºavika½ gaºhiss±m±”ti gantv± attano attano paññ±balena paµig²ta½ katv± g±yanti. S± ta½ paµikkhipati. Tass± anva¹¹ham±sa½ phaºe µhatv± eva½ g±yantiy±va eka½ buddhantara½ v²tivatta½. Atha amh±ka½ satth± loke uppajjitv± ekadivasa½ pacc³sak±le loka½ volokento erakapatta½ ±di½ katv± uttaram±ºava½ n±ma attano ñ±ºaj±lassa anto paviµµha½ disv± “ki½ nu kho bhavissat²”ti ±vajjento “ajja erakapattassa dh²tara½ phaºe µhapetv± nacc±panadivaso, aya½ uttaram±ºavo may± dinna½ paµig²ta½ gaºhantova sot±panno hutv± ta½ ±d±ya n±gar±jassa santika½ gamissati. So ta½ sutv± ‘buddho uppanno’ti ñatv± mama santika½ ±gamissati, aha½ tasmi½ ±gate mah±sam±game g±tha½ kathess±mi, g±th±pariyos±ne catur±s²tiy± p±ºasahass±na½ dhamm±bhisamayo bhavissat²”ti addasa. Satth± avid³re µh±ne gacchanta½ uttaram±ºava½ disv± “ehi, uttar±”ti ±ha. “Ki½, bhante”ti? “Ito t±va eh²”ti. Atha na½ ±gantv± vanditv± nisinna½ ±ha “kaha½ gacchas²”ti? “Erakapattassa dh²tu g±yanaµµh±nan”ti. “J±n±si pana g²tapaµig²tan”ti? “J±n±mi, bhante”ti. “Vadehi t±va nan”ti? Atha na½ attano j±nananiy±meneva vadanta½ “na uttara½ eta½ paµig²ta½, aha½ te paµig²ta½ dass±mi, ±d±ya na½ gamissas²”ti. “S±dhu, bhante”ti. Atha na½ satth±, uttara, tva½ n±gam±ºavik±ya g²tak±le–
“Chadv±r±dhippat² r±j±, rajjam±no rajjissaro;
arajja½ virajo hoti, rajja½ b±loti vuccat²”ti.–

Ima½ paµig²ta½ g±yeyy±s²ti ±ha.

M±ºavik±ya g²tassa attho– ki½su adhippat² r±j±ti ki½ adhippati r±j± n±ma hoti? Ki½su r±j± rajjissaroti katha½ pana r±j± rajjissaro n±ma hoti? Katha½su virajo hot²ti katha½ nu kho so r±j± virajo n±ma hot²ti?
Paµig²tassa pana attho– chadv±r±dhippat² r±j±ti yo channa½ dv±r±na½ adhippati, ekadv±repi r³p±d²hi anabhibh³to, aya½ r±j± n±ma. Rajjam±no rajjissaroti yo pana tesu ±rammaºesu rajjati, so rajjam±no rajjissaro n±ma. Arajjanti arajjam±no pana virajo n±ma hoti. Rajjanti rajjam±no b±loti vuccat²ti.

“Kenassu vuyhati b±lo, katha½ nudati paº¹ito;
yogakkhem² katha½ hoti, ta½ me akkh±hi pucchito”ti.

“Oghena vuyhati b±lo, yog± nudati paº¹ito;
sabbayogavisa½yutto, yogakkhem²ti vuccat²”ti.
Tassattho– “k±mogh±din± catubbidhena oghena b±lo vuyhati, ta½ ogha½ paº¹ito sammappadh±nasaªkh±tena yogena nudati. So sabbehi k±mayog±d²hi visa½yutto yogakkhem² n±ma vuccat²”ti.
Uttaro ima½ paµig²ta½ gaºhantova sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi. So sot±panno hutv± ta½ g±tha½ ±d±ya gantv±, “ambho, may± g²tapaµig²ta½ ±haµa½, ok±sa½ me deth±”ti vatv± nirantara½ µhitassa mah±janassa jaººun± akkamanto agam±si. N±gam±ºavik± pitu phaºe µhatv± naccam±n± “ki½su adhippat² r±j±”ti g²ta½ g±yati? Uttaro “chadv±r±dhippat² r±j±”ti paµig²ta½ g±yi. Puna n±gam±ºavik± “kenassu vuyhat²”ti tassa g²ta½ g±yati? Athass± paµig²ta½ g±yanto uttaro “oghena vuyhat²”ti ima½ g±tham±ha. N±gar±j± ta½ sutv±va buddhassa uppannabh±va½ ñatv± “may± eka½ buddhantara½ evar³pa½ pada½ n±ma na sutapubba½, uppanno vata, bho, loke buddho”ti tuµµham±naso naªguµµhena udaka½ pahari, mah±v²ciyo uµµhahi½su, ubho t²r±ni bhijji½su. Ito cito ca usabhamatte µh±ne manuss± udake nimujji½su. So ettaka½ mah±jana½ phaºe µhapetv± ukkhipitv± thale patiµµhapesi. So uttara½ upasaªkamitv± “kaha½, s±mi, satth±”ti pucchi. “Ekasmi½ rukkham³le nisinno, mah±r±j±”ti. So “ehi, s±mi, gacch±m±”ti uttarena saddhi½ agam±si. Mah±janopi tena saddhi½yeva gato. N±gar±j± gantv± chabbaººara½s²na½ antara½ pavisitv± satth±ra½ vanditv± rodam±no aµµh±si. Atha na½ satth± ±ha– “ki½ ida½, mah±r±j±”ti? “Aha½, bhante, tumh±disassa buddhassa s±vako hutv± v²sati vassasahass±ni samaºadhamma½ ak±si½, sopi ma½ samaºadhammo niddh±retu½ n±sakkhi. Appamattaka½ erakapattachindanamatta½ niss±ya ahetukapaµisandhi½ gahetv± urena parisakkanaµµh±ne nibbattosmi, eka½ buddhantara½ neva manussatta½ labh±mi, na saddhammassavana½, na tumh±disassa buddhassa dassanan”ti satth± tassa katha½ sutv±, “mah±r±ja, manussatta½ n±ma dullabhameva, tath± saddhammassavana½ tath± buddhupp±do, ida½ kicchena kasirena labbhat²”ti vatv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–

Tassattho– mahantena hi v±y±mena mahantena kusalena laddhatt± manussattapaµil±bho n±ma kiccho dullabho. Nirantara½ kasikamm±d²ni katv± j²vitavutti½ ghaµanatopi parittaµµh±yit±yapi macc±na½ j²vita½ kiccha½. Anekesupi kappesu dhammadesakassa puggalassa dullabhat±ya saddhammassavanampi kiccha½. Mahantena v±y±mena abhin²h±rassa samijjhanato samiddh±bhin²h±rassa ca anekehipi kappakoµisahassehi dullabhupp±dato buddh±na½ upp±dopi kicchoyeva, ativiya dullabhoti.
Desan±vas±ne catur±s²tiy± p±ºasahass±na½ dhamm±bhisamayo ahosi. N±gar±j±pi ta½divasa½ sot±pattiphala½ labheyya, tiracch±nagatatt± pana n±lattha. So yesu paµisandhigahaºatacajahanavissaµµhaniddokkamanasaj±tiy±methunasevanacutisaªkh±tesu pañcasu µh±nesu n±gasar²rameva gahetv± kilamanti, tesu akilamanabh±va½ patv± m±ºavar³peneva vicaritu½ labhat²ti.
