Att±nameva paµhamanti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto upananda½ sakyaputta½ ±rabbha kathesi.
So kira thero dhammakatha½ kathetu½ cheko. Tassa appicchat±dipaµisa½yutta½ dhammakatha½ sutv± bah³ bhikkhu ta½ tic²varehi p³jetv± dhutaŖg±ni sam±diyi½su. Tehi vissaµµhaparikkh±re soyeva gaŗhi. So ekasmi½ antovasse upakaµµhe janapada½ agam±si. Atha na½ ekasmi½ vih±re daharas±maŗer± dhammakathikapemena, “bhante, idha vassa½ upeth±”ti vadi½su. “Idha kittaka½ vass±v±sika½ labbhat²”ti pucchitv± tehi “ekeko s±µako”ti vutte tattha up±han± µhapetv± ańńa½ vih±ra½ agam±si Dutiya½ vih±ra½ gantv± “idha ki½ labbhat²”ti pucchitv± “dve s±µak±”ti vutte kattarayaµµhi½ µhapesi. Tatiya½ vih±ra½ gantv± “idha ki½ labbhat²”ti pucchitv± “tayo s±µak±”ti vutte tattha udakatumba½ µhapesi. Catuttha½ vih±ra½ gantv± “idha ki½ labbhat²”ti pucchitv± “catt±ro s±µak±”ti vutte “s±dhu idha vasiss±m²”ti tattha vassa½ upagantv± gahaµµh±nańceva bhikkh³nańca dhammakatha½ kathesi. Te na½ bah³hi vatthehi ceva c²varehi ca p³jesu½. So vuµµhavasso itaresupi vih±resu s±sana½ pesetv± “may± parikkh±rassa µhapitatt± vass±v±sika½ laddhabba½, ta½ me pahiŗant³”ti sabba½ ±har±petv± y±naka½ p³retv± p±y±si.
Athekasmi½ vih±re dve daharabhikkh³ dve s±µake ekańca kambala½ labhitv± “tuyha½ s±µak± hontu, mayha½ kambalo”ti bh±jetu½ asakkont± maggasam²pe nis²ditv± vivadanti. Te ta½ thera½ ±gacchanta½ disv±, “bhante, tumhe no bh±jetv± deth±”ti vadi½su. Tumheyeva bh±jeth±ti. Na sakkoma, bhante, tumheyeva no bh±jetv± deth±ti. Tena hi mama vacane µhassath±ti. ¾ma, µhass±m±ti. “Tena hi s±dh³”ti tesa½ dve s±µake datv± “aya½ dhammakatha½ kathent±na½ amh±ka½ p±rupan±raho”ti mahaggha½ kambala½ ±d±ya pakk±mi. Daharabhikkh³ vippaµis±rino hutv± satthu santika½ gantv± tamattha½ ±rocesu½. Satth± “na, bhikkhave, id±neva tumh±ka½ santaka½ gahetv± tumhe vippaµis±rino karoti, pubbepi ak±siyev±”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari–
At²tasmi½ anut²rac±r² ca gambh²rac±r² c±ti dve udd± mahanta½ rohitamaccha½ labhitv± “mayha½ s²sa½ hotu, tava naŖguµµhan”ti viv±d±pann± bh±jetu½ asakkont± eka½ siŖg±la½ disv± ±ha½su– “m±tula, ima½ no bh±jetv± deh²”ti. Aha½ rańń± vinicchayaµµh±ne µhapito, tattha cira½ nis²ditv± jaŖghavih±ratth±ya ±gatomhi, id±ni me ok±so natth²ti. M±tula, m± eva½ karotha, bh±jetv± eva no deth±ti. Mama vacane µhassath±ti. Żhass±ma, m±tul±ti. “Tena hi s±dh³”ti so s²sa½ chinditv± ekamante ak±si, naŖguµµha½ ekamante. Katv± ca pana, “t±t±, yena vo anut²re carita½, so naŖguµµha½ gaŗh±tu. Yena gambh²re carita½, tassa s²sa½ hotu. Aya½ pana majjhimo khaŗ¹o mama vinicchayadhamme µhitassa bhavissat²”ti te sańń±pento–
“Anut²rac±ri naŖguµµha½, s²sa½ gambh²rac±rino;
acc±ya½ majjhimo khaŗ¹o, dhammaµµhassa bhavissat²”ti. (J±. 1.7.33)–

Ima½ g±tha½ vatv± majjhimakhaŗ¹a½ ±d±ya pakk±mi. Tepi vippaµis±rino ta½ oloketv± aµµha½su.

Satth± ima½ at²ta½ dassetv± “evamesa at²tepi tumhe vippaµis±rino ak±siyev±”ti te bhikkh³ sańń±petv± upananda½ garahanto, “bhikkhave para½ ovadantena n±ma paµhamameva att± patir³pe patiµµh±petabbo”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
158. “Att±nameva paµhama½, patir³pe nivesaye;
athańńamanus±seyya, na kilisseyya paŗ¹ito”ti.
Tattha patir³pe nivesayeti anucchavike guŗe patiµµh±peyya. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yo appicchat±diguŗehi v± ariyava½sapaµipad±d²hi v± para½ anus±situk±mo, so att±nameva paµhama½ tasmi½ guŗe patiµµh±peyya. Eva½ patiµµh±petv± athańńa½ tehi guŗehi anus±seyya. Att±nańhi tattha anivesetv± kevala½ parameva anus±sam±no parato ninda½ labhitv± kilissati n±ma, tattha att±na½ nivesetv± anus±sam±no parato pasa½sa½ labhati, tasm± na kilissati n±ma. Eva½ karonto paŗ¹ito na kilisseyy±ti.
Desan±vas±ne te bhikkh³ sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi½su, mah±janass±pi s±tthik± dhammadesan± ahos²ti.
