Tatra kho ±yasm± uttaro bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “s±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attavipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ paravipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ parasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hot²”ti.
Tena kho pana samayena vessavaºo mah±r±j± uttar±ya dis±ya dakkhiºa½ disa½ gacchati kenacideva karaº²yena. Assosi kho vessavaºo mah±r±j± ±yasmato uttarassa mahisavatthusmi½ saªkheyyake pabbate vaµaj±lik±ya½ bhikkh³na½ eva½ dhamma½ desentassa– “s±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attavipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ paravipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ parasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hot²”ti.
Atha kho vessavaººo mah±r±j±– seyyath±pi n±ma balav± puriso samiñjita½ [sammiñjita½ (s². sy±. ka½. p².)] v± b±ha½ pas±reyya, pas±rita½ v± b±ha½ samiñjeyya [sammiñjeyya (s². sy±. ka½. p².)], evameva½ mahisavatthusmi½ saªkheyyake pabbate vaµaj±lik±ya½ antarahito devesu t±vati½sesu p±turahosi. Atha kho vessavaººo mah±r±j± yena sakko dev±namindo tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± sakka½ dev±naminda½ etadavoca– “yagghe m±risa, j±neyy±si! Eso ±yasm± uttaro mahisavatthusmi½ saªkheyyake pabbate vaµaj±lik±ya½ bhikkh³na½ eva½ dhamma½ deseti– ‘s±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attavipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti S±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ paravipatti½…pe… attasampatti½… parasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hot²”’ti.
Atha kho sakko dev±namindo seyyath±pi n±ma balav± puriso samiñjita½ v± b±ha½ pas±reyya, pas±rita½ v± b±ha½ samiñjeyya, evameva½ devesu t±vati½sesu antarahito mahisavatthusmi½ saªkheyyake pabbate vaµaj±lik±ya½ ±yasmato uttarassa sammukhe p±turahosi. Atha kho sakko dev±namindo yen±yasm± uttaro tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ uttara½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Ekamanta½ µhito kho sakko dev±namindo ±yasmanta½ uttara½ etadavoca–
“Sacca½ kira, bhante, ±yasm± uttaro bhikkh³na½ eva½ dhamma½ desesi– ‘s±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attavipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti, s±dh±vuso, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ paravipatti½…pe… attasampatti½… parasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hot²”’ti? “Eva½, dev±namind±”ti. “Ki½ panida½ [ki½ pana (sy±.)], bhante, ±yasmato uttarassa saka½ paµibh±na½ [sakapaµibh±na½ up±d±ya (ka.)], ud±hu tassa bhagavato vacana½ arahato samm±sambuddhass±”ti? “Tena hi, dev±naminda, upama½ te kariss±mi. Upam±ya midhekacce viññ³ puris± bh±sitassa attha½ ±j±nan”ti.
“Seyyath±pi, dev±naminda, g±massa v± nigamassa v± avid³re mah±dhaññar±si. Tato mah±janak±yo dhañña½ ±hareyya– k±jehipi piµakehipi ucchaªgehipi añjal²hipi Yo nu kho, dev±naminda, ta½ mah±janak±ya½ upasaªkamitv± eva½ puccheyya– ‘kuto ima½ dhañña½ ±harath±’ti, katha½ by±karam±no nu kho, dev±naminda, so mah±janak±yo samm± by±karam±no by±kareyy±”ti? “‘Amumh± mah±dhaññar±simh± ±har±m±’ti kho, bhante, so mah±janak±yo samm± by±karam±no by±kareyy±”ti. “Evameva½ kho, dev±naminda, ya½ kiñci subh±sita½ sabba½ ta½ tassa bhagavato vacana½ arahato samm±sambuddhassa. Tato up±d±yup±d±ya maya½ caññe ca bhaº±m±”ti.
“Acchariya½, bhante, abbhuta½ bhante! Y±va subh±sita½ cida½ ±yasmat± uttarena– ‘ya½ kiñci subh±sita½ sabba½ ta½ tassa bhagavato vacana½ arahato samm±sambuddhassa Tato up±d±yup±d±ya maya½ caññe ca bhaº±m±’ti. Ekamida½, bhante uttara, samaya½ bhagav± r±jagahe viharati gijjhak³µe pabbate acirapakkante devadatte. Tatra kho bhagav± devadatta½ ±rabbha bhikkh³ ±mantesi–
“S±dhu, bhikkhave, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ attavipatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. S±dhu, bhikkhave, bhikkhu k±lena k±la½ paravipatti½…pe… attasampatti½… parasampatti½ paccavekkhit± hoti. Aµµhahi, bhikkhave, asaddhammehi abhibh³to pariy±dinnacitto devadatto ±p±yiko nerayiko kappaµµho atekiccho. Katamehi aµµhahi? L±bhena hi, bhikkhave, abhibh³to pariy±dinnacitto devadatto ±p±yiko nerayiko kappaµµho atekiccho; al±bhena, bhikkhave…pe… yasena, bhikkhave ayasena, bhikkhave… sakk±rena, bhikkhave… asakk±rena, bhikkhave… p±picchat±ya, bhikkhave… p±pamittat±ya bhikkhave, abhibh³to pariy±dinnacitto devadatto ±p±yiko nerayiko kappaµµho atekiccho. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, aµµhahi asaddhammehi abhibh³to pariy±dinnacitto devadatto ±p±yiko nerayiko kappaµµho atekiccho.
“S±dhu, bhikkhave, bhikkhu uppanna½ l±bha½ abhibhuyya abhibhuyya vihareyya; uppanna½ al±bha½…pe… uppanna½ yasa½… uppanna½ ayasa½… uppanna½ sakk±ra½… uppanna½ asakk±ra½… uppanna½ p±picchata½… uppanna½ p±pamittata½ abhibhuyya abhibhuyya vihareyya.
“Kiñca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu atthavasa½ paµicca uppanna½ l±bha½ abhibhuyya abhibhuyya vihareyya; uppanna½ al±bha½…pe… uppanna½ yasa½… uppanna½ ayasa½… uppanna½ sakk±ra½… uppanna½ asakk±ra½… uppanna½ p±picchata½… uppanna½ p±pamittata½ abhibhuyya abhibhuyya vihareyya?
“Ya½ hissa, bhikkhave, uppanna½ l±bha½ anabhibhuyya viharato uppajjeyyu½ ±sav± vigh±tapari¼±h±, uppanna½ l±bha½ abhibhuyya viharato eva½sa te ±sav± vigh±tapari¼±h± na honti. Ya½ hissa, bhikkhave, uppanna½ al±bha½…pe… uppanna½ yasa½… uppanna½ ayasa½… uppanna½ sakk±ra½… uppanna½ asakk±ra½… uppanna½ p±picchata½… uppanna½ p±pamittata½ anabhibhuyya viharato uppajjeyyu½ ±sav± vigh±tapari¼±h±, uppanna½ p±pamittata½ abhibhuyya viharato eva½sa te ±sav± vigh±tapari¼±h± na honti. “Ett±vat±, bhante uttara, manussesu catasso paris±– bhikkh³, bhikkhuniyo, up±sak±, up±sik±yo. N±ya½ dhammapariy±yo kismiñci upaµµhito [patiµµhito (s². sy±.)]. Uggaºhatu, bhante, ±yasm± uttaro ima½ dhammapariy±ya½. Pariy±puº±tu, bhante, ±yasm± uttaro ima½ dhammapariy±ya½. Dh±retu, bhante, ±yasm± uttaro ima½ dhammapariy±ya½.
