66. Eva½ me suta½– eka½ samaya½ bhagav± ves±liya½ viharati ambap±livane. Tatra kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “bhikkhavo”ti. “Bhadante”ti te bhikkh³ bhagavato paccassosu½. Bhagav± etadavoca–
“Anicc± bhikkhave, saªkh±r±; adhuv±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±; anass±sik±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±. Y±vañcida½, bhikkhave, alameva sabbasaªkh±resu nibbinditu½ ala½ virajjitu½ ala½ vimuccitu½.
“Sineru, bhikkhave, pabbatar±j± catur±s²tiyojanasahass±ni ±y±mena, catur±s²tiyojanasahass±ni vitth±rena, catur±s²tiyojanasahass±ni mah±samudde ajjhog±¼ho, catur±s²tiyojanasahass±ni mah±samudd± accuggato. Hoti kho so, bhikkhave, samayo ya½ kad±ci karahaci d²ghassa addhuno accayena bah³ni vass±ni bah³ni vassasat±ni bah³ni vassasahass±ni bah³ni vassasatasahass±ni devo na vassati. Deve kho pana, bhikkhave, avassante ye kecime b²jag±mabh³tag±m± osadhitiºavanappatayo te ussussanti visussanti, na bhavanti. “Hoti kho so, bhikkhave, samayo ya½ kad±ci karahaci d²ghassa addhuno accayena dutiyo s³riyo p±tubhavati. Dutiyassa, bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± y± k±ci kunnadiyo kusobbh± [kussubbho (s².), kussobbh± (sy±.)] t± ussussanti visussanti, na bhavanti Eva½ anicc±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±…pe… ala½ vimuccitu½.

Tatiyassa, bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± y± k±ci mah±nadiyo, seyyathida½– gaªg±, yamun±, aciravat², sarabh³, mah², t± ussussanti visussanti, na bhavanti. Catutthassa, bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± ye te mah±sar± yato im± mah±nadiyo pavattanti, seyyathida½– anotatt±, s²hapap±t±, rathak±r±, kaººamuº¹±, kuº±l±, chaddant±, mand±kiniy±, t± ussussanti visussanti, na bhavanti. Pañcamassa, bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± yojanasatik±nipi mah±samudde udak±ni ogacchanti, dviyojanasatik±nipi mah±samudde udak±ni ogacchanti, tiyojanasatik±nipi, catuyojanasatik±nipi, pañcayojanasatik±nipi, chayojanasatik±nipi, sattayojanasatik±nipi mah±samudde udak±ni ogacchanti; sattat±lampi mah±samudde udaka½ saºµh±ti, chat±lampi, pañcat±lampi, catut±lampi, tit±lampi, dvit±lampi t±lamattampi mah±samudde udaka½ saºµh±ti; sattaporisampi mah±samudde udaka½ saºµh±ti, chaporisampi, pañcaporisampi, catuporisampi, tiporisampi, dviporisampi, porisampi [porisamattampi (sy±.)], a¹¹haporisampi, kaµimattampi, jaººuk±mattampi, gopphakamattampi mah±samudde udaka½ saºµh±ti. Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, saradasamaye thullaphusitake deve vassante tattha tattha gopadesu [gopphakapadesesu (ka.)] udak±ni µhit±ni honti; evameva½ kho, bhikkhave, tattha tattha gopphakamatt±ni [gopadamatt±ni (s². sy±.)] mah±samudde udak±ni µhit±ni honti. Pañcamassa, bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± aªgulipabbamattampi mah±samudde udaka½ na hoti. Eva½ anicc±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±…pe… ala½ vimuccitu½.
“Hoti kho so, bhikkhave, samayo ya½ kad±ci karahaci d²ghassa addhuno accayena chaµµho s³riyo p±tubhavati. Chaµµhassa, bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± ayañca mah±pathav² sineru ca pabbatar±j± dh³m±yanti sa½dh³m±yanti sampadh³m±yanti [dh³p±yanti sandh³p±yanti sampadh³p±yanti (s². sy±.)]. Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, kumbhak±rap±ko ±lepito [±limpito (s². sy±.)] paµhama½ dh³meti sa½dh³meti sampadh³meti; evameva½ kho, bhikkhave, chaµµhassa s³riyassa p±tubh±v± ayañca mah±pathav² sineru ca pabbatar±j± dh³m±yanti sa½dh³m±yanti sampadh³m±yanti. “Hoti kho so, bhikkhave, samayo ya½ kad±ci karahaci d²ghassa addhuno accayena sattamo s³riyo p±tubhavati. Sattamassa bhikkhave, s³riyassa p±tubh±v± ayañca mah±pathav² sineru ca pabbatar±j± ±dippanti pajjalanti ekaj±l± bhavanti. Imiss± ca, bhikkhave, mah±pathaviy± sinerussa ca pabbatar±jassa jh±yam±n±na½ dayham±n±na½ acci v±tena khitt± y±va brahmalok±pi gacchati. Sinerussa, bhikkhave, pabbatar±jassa jh±yam±nassa dayham±nassa vinassam±nassa mahat± tejokhandhena abhibh³tassa yojanasatik±nipi k³µ±ni palujjanti dviyojanasatik±nipi, tiyojanasatik±nipi, catuyojanasatik±nipi, pañcayojanasatik±nipi k³µ±ni palujjanti. Imiss± ca, bhikkhave, mah±pathaviy± sinerussa ca pabbatar±jassa jh±yam±n±na½ dayham±n±na½ neva ch±rik± paññ±yati na masi. Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, sappissa v± telassa v± jh±yam±nassa dayham±nassa neva ch±rik± paññ±yati na masi; evameva½ kho, bhikkhave, imiss± ca mah±pathaviy± sinerussa ca pabbatar±jassa jh±yam±n±na½ dayham±n±na½ neva ch±rik± paññ±yati na masi. Eva½ anicc±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±; eva½ adhuv±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±; eva½ anass±sik±, bhikkhave, saªkh±r±. Y±vañcida½, bhikkhave, alameva sabbasaªkh±resu nibbinditu½ ala½ virajjitu½ ala½ vimuccitu½.
“Tatra, bhikkhave, ko mant± ko saddh±t±– ‘ayañca pathav² sineru ca pabbatar±j± dayhissanti vinassissanti, na bhavissant²’ti aññatra diµµhapadehi?
[A. ni. 6.54; 7.73] “bh³tapubba½, bhikkhave, sunetto n±ma satth± ahosi titthakaro k±mesu v²tar±go. Sunettassa kho pana, bhikkhave satthuno anek±ni s±vakasat±ni ahesu½. Sunetto, bhikkhave, satth± s±vak±na½ brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desesi. Ye kho pana, bhikkhave, sunettassa satthuno brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desentassa sabbena sabba½ s±sana½ ±j±ni½su te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ brahmaloka½ upapajji½su. Ye na sabbena sabba½ s±sana½ ±j±ni½su te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± appekacce paranimmitavasavatt²na½ dev±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su, appekacce nimm±narat²na½ dev±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su, appekacce tusit±na½ dev±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su, appekacce y±m±na½ dev±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su appekacce t±vati½s±na½ dev±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su appekacce c±tumah±r±jik±na½ dev±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su, appekacce khattiyamah±s±l±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su, appekacce br±hmaºamah±s±l±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su, appekacce gahapatimah±s±l±na½ sahabyata½ upapajji½su.
“Atha kho, bhikkhave, sunettassa satthuno etadahosi– ‘na kho meta½ patir³pa½ yoha½ s±vak±na½ samasamagatiyo assa½ abhisampar±ya½, ya½n³n±ha½ uttari metta½ [uttari magga½ (ka.)] bh±veyya”n’ti.
“Atha kho, bhikkhave, sunetto satth± satta vass±ni metta½ citta½ bh±vesi. Satta vass±ni metta½ citta½ bh±vetv± satta sa½vaµµavivaµµakappe nayima½ loka½ punar±gam±si. Sa½vaµµam±ne suda½, bhikkhave loke ±bhassar³pago hoti. Vivaµµam±ne loke suñña½ brahmavim±na½ upapajjati. Tatra suda½, bhikkhave, brahm± hoti mah±brahm± abhibh³ anabhibh³to aññadatthudaso vasavatt². Chatti½sakkhattu½ kho pana, bhikkhave, sakko ahosi dev±namindo. Anekasatakkhattu½ r±j± ahosi cakkavatt² dhammiko dhammar±j± c±turanto vijit±v² janapadatth±variyappatto sattaratanasamann±gato. Parosahassa½ kho panassa putt± ahesu½ s³r± v²raªgar³p± parasenappamaddan±. So ima½ pathavi½ s±garapariyanta½ adaº¹ena asatthena dhammena abhivijiya ajjh±vasi. So hi n±ma, bhikkhave, sunetto satth± eva½ d²gh±yuko sam±no eva½ ciraµµhitiko aparimutto ahosi– ‘j±tiy± jar±ya maraºena sokehi paridevehi dukkhehi domanassehi up±y±sehi, aparimutto dukkhasm±’ti vad±mi”.
“Ta½ kissa hetu? Catunna½ dhamm±na½ ananubodh± appaµivedh±. Katamesa½ catunna½? Ariyassa, bhikkhave, s²lassa ananubodh± appaµivedh±, ariyassa sam±dhissa ananubodh± appaµivedh±, ariy±ya paññ±ya ananubodh± appaµivedh±, ariy±ya vimuttiy± ananubodh± appaµivedh±. Tayida½, bhikkhave, ariya½ s²la½ anubuddha½ paµividdha½, ariyo sam±dhi anubodho paµividdho, ariy± paññ± anubodh± paµividdh±, ariy± vimutti anubodh± paµividdh±, ucchinn± bhavataºh±, kh²º± bhavanetti, natthi d±ni punabbhavo”ti. Idamavoca bhagav±. Ida½ vatv±na sugato ath±para½ etadavoca satth±–
“S²la½ sam±dhi paññ± ca, vimutti ca anuttar±;
anubuddh± ime dhamm±, gotamena yasassin±.
“Iti buddho abhiññ±ya, dhammamakkh±si bhikkhuna½;
dukkhassantakaro satth±, cakkhum± parinibbuto”ti. Dutiya½.
