53. Eva½ me suta½– eka½ samaya½ ±yasm± ca s±riputto ±yasm± ca mah±moggall±no dakkhiº±girismi½ c±rika½ caranti mahat± bhikkhusaªghena saddhi½. Tena kho pana samayena ve¼ukaº¹ak² [ve¼ukaº¹ak² (sy±.) a. ni. 6.37; 2.134; sa½. ni. 2.173 passitabba½] nandam±t± up±sik± rattiy± pacc³sasamaya½ paccuµµh±ya p±r±yana½ [c³¼ani. p±r±yanavagga, vatthug±th±] sarena bh±sati.
Tena kho pana samayena vessavaºo mah±r±j± uttar±ya dis±ya dakkhiºa½ disa½ gacchati kenacideva karaº²yena. Assosi kho vessavaºo mah±r±j± nandam±t±ya up±sik±ya p±r±yana½ sarena bh±santiy±, sutv± kath±pariyos±na½ ±gamayam±no aµµh±si.
Atha kho nandam±t± up±sik± p±r±yana½ sarena bh±sitv± tuºh² ahosi. Atha kho vessavaºo mah±r±j± nandam±t±ya up±sik±ya kath±pariyos±na½ viditv± abbh±numodi– “s±dhu bhagini, s±dhu bhagin²”ti! “Ko paneso, bhadramukh±”ti? “Aha½ te, bhagini, bh±t± vessavaºo, mah±r±j±”ti. “S±dhu, bhadramukha, tena hi yo me aya½ dhammapariy±yo bhaºito ida½ te hotu ±titheyyan”ti. “S±dhu, bhagini, etañceva me hotu ±titheyya½. Sveva [sve ca (s².)] s±riputtamoggall±nappamukho bhikkhusaªgho akatap±tar±so ve¼ukaº¹aka½ ±gamissati, tañca bhikkhusaªgha½ parivisitv± mama dakkhiºa½ ±diseyy±si. Etañceva [evañca (s². sy±.), etañca (?)] Me bhavissati ±titheyyan”ti.
Atha kho nandam±t± up±sik± tass± rattiy± accayena sake nivesane paº²ta½ kh±dan²ya½ bhojan²ya½ paµiy±d±pesi. Atha kho s±riputtamoggall±nappamukho bhikkhusaªgho akatap±tar±so yena ve¼ukaº¹ako tadavasari. Atha kho nandam±t± up±sik± aññatara½ purisa½ ±mantesi– “ehi tva½, ambho purisa, ±r±ma½ gantv± bhikkhusaªghassa k±la½ ±rocehi– ‘k±lo, bhante, ayy±ya nandam±tuy± nivesane niµµhita½ bhatta”n’ti. “Eva½, ayye”ti kho so puriso nandam±t±ya up±sik±ya paµissutv± ±r±ma½ gantv± bhikkhusaªghassa k±la½ ±rocesi– “k±lo, bhante, ayy±ya nandam±tuy± nivesane niµµhita½ bhattan”ti. Atha kho s±riputtamoggall±nappamukho bhikkhusaªgho pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya yena nandam±t±ya up±sik±ya nivesana½ tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± paññatte ±sane nis²di. Atha kho nandam±t± up±sik± s±riputtamoggall±nappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ paº²tena kh±dan²yena bhojan²yena sahatth± santappesi sampav±resi.
Atha kho nandam±t± up±sik± ±yasmanta½ s±riputta½ bhutt±vi½ on²tapattap±ºi½ ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinna½ kho nandam±tara½ up±sika½ ±yasm± s±riputto etadavoca– “ko pana te, nandam±te, bhikkhusaªghassa abbh±gamana½ ±roces²”ti?
“Idh±ha½, bhante rattiy± pacc³sasamaya½ paccuµµh±ya p±r±yana½ sarena bh±sitv± tuºh² ahosi½. Atha kho, bhante, vessavaºo mah±r±j± mama kath±pariyos±na½ viditv± abbh±numodi– ‘s±dhu, bhagini, s±dhu, bhagin²’ti! ‘Ko paneso, bhadramukh±’ti? ‘Aha½ te, bhagini, bh±t± vessavaºo, mah±r±j±’ti. ‘S±dhu, bhadramukha, tena hi yo me aya½ dhammapariy±yo bhaºito ida½ te hotu ±titheyyan’ti. ‘S±dhu, bhagini, etañceva me hotu ±titheyya½. Sveva s±riputtamoggall±nappamukho bhikkhusaªgho akatap±tar±so ve¼ukaº¹aka½ ±gamissati, tañca bhikkhusaªgha½ parivisitv± mama dakkhiºa½ ±diseyy±si. Etañceva [etañca (s².), evañca (sy±.)] me bhavissati ±titheyyan’ti. Yadida½ [yamida½ (ma. ni. 1.363)], bhante, d±ne [puñña½ hi ta½ (s².), puñña½ puññamahita½ (sy±.), puñña½ v± puññamaha½ v± (p².), puñña½ v± puññamah² v± (ka.)] puññañca puññamah² ca ta½ [puñña½ hi ta½ (s².), puñña½ puññamahita½ (sy±.), puñña½ v± puññamaha½ v± (p².), puñña½ v± puññamah² v± (ka.)] vessavaºassa mah±r±jassa sukh±ya hot³”ti.
“Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½, nandam±te! Yatra hi n±ma vessavaºena mah±r±jena eva½mahiddhikena eva½mahesakkhena devaputtena sammukh± sallapissas²”ti.
“Na kho me, bhante, eseva acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Atthi me aññopi acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Idha me, bhante, nando n±ma ekaputtako piyo man±po. Ta½ r±j±no kismiñcideva pakaraºe okassa pasayha j²vit± voropesu½. Tasmi½ kho pan±ha½, bhante, d±rake gahite v± gayham±ne v± vadhe v± vajjham±ne v± hate v± haññam±ne v± n±bhij±n±mi cittassa aññathattan”ti. “Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½ nandam±te! Yatra hi n±ma cittupp±dampi [cittupp±damattampi (sy±.)] parisodhessas²”ti.
“Na kho me, bhante eseva acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Atthi me aññopi acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Idha me, bhante, s±miko k±laªkato aññatara½ yakkhayoni½ upapanno. So me teneva purimena attabh±vena uddassesi. Na kho pan±ha½, bhante, abhij±n±mi tatonid±na½ cittassa aññathattan”ti. “Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½, nandam±te! Yatra hi n±ma cittupp±dampi parisodhessas²”ti.
“Na kho me, bhante, eseva acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Atthi me aññopi acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Yatoha½, bhante, s±mikassa daharasseva dahar± ±n²t± n±bhij±n±mi s±mika½ manas±pi aticarit± [aticaritu½ (sy±.), atic±ritta½ (ka.)], kuto pana k±yen±”ti! “Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½, nandam±te! Yatra hi n±ma cittupp±dampi parisodhessas²”ti.
“Na kho me, bhante, eseva acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Atthi me aññopi acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Yad±ha½, bhante, up±sik± paµidesit± n±bhij±n±mi kiñci sikkh±pada½ sañcicca v²tikkamit±”ti. “Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½, nandam±te”ti!
“Na kho me, bhante, eseva acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Atthi me aññopi acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Idh±ha½, bhante, y±vadeva [y±vadeva (s². sy±.) sa½. ni. 2.152 p±¼i ca aµµhakath±µ²k± ca passitabb±] ±kaªkh±mi vivicceva k±mehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakka½ savic±ra½ vivekaja½ p²tisukha½ paµhama½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. Vitakkavic±r±na½ v³pasam± ajjhatta½ sampas±dana½ cetaso ekodibh±va½ avitakka½ avic±ra½ vivekaja½ p²tisukha½ dutiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. P²tiy± ca vir±g± upekkhik± ca vihar±mi sat± ca sampaj±n± sukhañca k±ye paµisa½vedemi, ya½ ta½ ariy± ±cikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satim± sukhavih±r²’ti tatiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. Sukhassa ca pah±n± dukkhassa ca pah±n± pubbeva somanassadomanass±na½ atthaªgam± adukkhamasukha½ upekkh±satip±risuddhi½ catuttha½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±m²”ti. “Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½, nandam±te”ti!
“Na kho me, bhante, eseva acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Atthi me aññopi acchariyo abbhuto dhammo. Y±nim±ni, bhante, bhagavat± desit±ni pañcorambh±giy±ni sa½yojan±ni n±ha½ tesa½ kiñci attani appah²na½ samanupass±m²”ti. “Acchariya½, nandam±te, abbhuta½, nandam±te”ti!
Atha kho ±yasm± s±riputto nandam±tara½ up±sika½ dhammiy± kath±ya sandassetv± sam±dapetv± samuttejetv± sampaha½setv± uµµh±y±san± pakk±m²ti. Dasama½.
