Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando sambahulehi bhikkh³hi saddhi½ yena aciravat² nad² tenupasaªkami gatt±ni parisiñcitu½. Aciravatiy± nadiy± gatt±ni parisiñcitv± paccuttaritv± ekac²varo aµµh±si gatt±ni pubb±payam±no. Atha kho aññataro bhikkhu yen±yasm± ±nando tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ etadavoca– “ki½ nu kho, ±vuso ±nanda, sabba½ cetaso samann±haritv± nu kho devadatto bhagavat± by±kato– ‘±p±yiko devadatto nerayiko kappaµµho atekiccho’ti [c³¼ava. 348; a. ni. 8.7 passitabba½], ud±hu kenacideva pariy±yen±’ti? “Eva½ kho paneta½, ±vuso, bhagavat± by±katan”ti.
