56. Tena kho pana samayena ±yasm± phagguno [phegguno (ka.), phagguºo (s². sy±.)] ±b±dhiko hoti dukkhito b±¼hagil±no. Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “±yasm±, bhante, phagguno ±b±dhiko dukkhito b±¼hagil±no. S±dhu, bhante bhagav± yen±yasm± phagguno tenupasaªkamatu anukampa½ up±d±y±”ti. Adhiv±sesi bhagav± tuºh²bh±vena. Atha kho bhagav± s±yanhasamaya½ paµisall±n± vuµµhito yen±yasm± phagguno tenupasaªkami. Addas± kho ±yasm± phagguno bhagavanta½ d³ratova ±gacchanta½. Disv±na mañcake samadhosi [samañcopi (s². sy±. p².), sa½ + dh³ + ² = samadhosi]. Atha kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ phagguna½ etadavoca– “ala½, phagguna, m± tva½ mañcake samadhosi. Santim±ni ±san±ni parehi paññatt±ni, tatth±ha½ nis²diss±m²”ti. Nis²di bhagav± paññatte ±sane. Nisajja kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ phagguna½ etadavoca–
“Kacci te, phagguna, khaman²ya½ kacci y±pan²ya½? Kacci te dukkh± vedan± paµikkamanti, no abhikkamanti; paµikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no abhikkamo”ti? “Na me bhante khaman²ya½ na y±pan²ya½. B±¼h± me dukkh± vedan± abhikkamanti, no paµikkamanti; abhikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no paµikkamo.
“Seyyath±pi, bhante, balav± puriso tiºhena sikharena muddhani [muddh±na½ (s². p².)] abhimattheyya [abhimaµµheyya (sy±.)]; evameva½ kho me, bhante, adhimatt± v±t± muddhani [hananti (s². p².), ohananti (sy±.)] ³hananti. Na me, bhante, khaman²ya½ na y±pan²ya½. B±¼h± me dukkh± vedan± abhikkamanti, no paµikkamanti; abhikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no paµikkamo.
“Seyyath±pi, bhante, balav± puriso da¼hena varattakkhaº¹ena s²saveµhana½ dadeyya; evameva½ kho me, bhante, adhimatt± s²se s²savedan±. Na me, bhante, khaman²ya½ na y±pan²ya½. B±¼h± me dukkh± vedan± abhikkamanti, no paµikkamanti; abhikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no paµikkamo.
“Seyyath±pi, bhante, dakkho gogh±tako v± gogh±takantev±s² v± tiºhena govikantanena kucchi½ parikanteyya; evameva½ kho me, bhante, adhimatt± v±t± kucchi½ parikantanti. Na me, bhante, khaman²ya½ na y±pan²ya½. B±¼h± me dukkh± vedan± abhikkamanti, no paµikkamanti; abhikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no paµikkamo.
“Seyyath±pi, bhante, dve balavanto puris± dubbalatara½ purisa½ n±n±b±h±su gahetv± aªg±rak±suy± sant±peyyu½ samparit±peyyu½; evameva½ kho me, bhante, adhimatto k±yasmi½ ¹±ho. Na me, bhante, khaman²ya½ na y±pan²ya½. B±¼h± me dukkh± vedan± abhikkamanti, no paµikkamanti; abhikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no paµikkamo”ti. Atha kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ phagguna½ dhammiy± kath±ya sandassetv± sam±dapetv± samuttejetv± sampaha½setv± uµµh±y±san± pakk±mi.
Atha kho ±yasm± phagguno acirapakkantassa bhagavato k±lamak±si. Tamhi cassa samaye maraºak±le indriy±ni vippas²di½su. Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “±yasm±, bhante, phagguno acirapakkantassa bhagavato k±lamak±si. Tamhi cassa samaye maraºak±le indriy±ni vippas²di½s³”ti.
“Ki½ h±nanda, phaggunassa [pheggunassa ±nanda (ka.)] bhikkhuno indriy±ni na vippas²dissanti! Phaggunassa, ±nanda, bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ avimutta½ ahosi. Tassa ta½ dhammadesana½ sutv± pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimutta½.
“Chayime, ±nanda, ±nisa½s± k±lena dhammassavane [dhammasavaºe (s².)] k±lena atthupaparikkh±ya. Katame cha? Idh±nanda, bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ avimutta½ hoti. So tamhi samaye maraºak±le labhati tath±gata½ dassan±ya. Tassa tath±gato dhamma½ deseti ±dikaly±ºa½ majjhekaly±ºa½ pariyos±nakaly±ºa½ s±ttha½ sabyañjana½, kevalaparipuººa½ parisuddha½ brahmacariya½ pak±seti. Tassa ta½ dhammadesana½ sutv± pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimuccati. Aya½, ±nanda, paµhamo ±nisa½so k±lena dhammassavane.
“Puna capara½, ±nanda, bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ avimutta½ hoti. So tamhi samaye maraºak±le na heva kho [no ca kho (ka.)] labhati tath±gata½ dassan±ya, api ca kho tath±gatas±vaka½ labhati dassan±ya. Tassa tath±gatas±vako dhamma½ deseti ±dikaly±ºa½ majjhekaly±ºa½ pariyos±nakaly±ºa½ s±ttha½ sabyañjana½, kevalaparipuººa½ parisuddha½ brahmacariya½ pak±seti. Tassa ta½ dhammadesana½ sutv± pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimuccati. Aya½, ±nanda, dutiyo ±nisa½so k±lena dhammassavane.
“Puna capara½, ±nanda, bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ avimutta½ hoti. So tamhi samaye maraºak±le na heva kho labhati tath±gata½ dassan±ya, napi tath±gatas±vaka½ labhati dassan±ya; api ca kho yath±suta½ yath±pariyatta½ dhamma½ cetas± anuvitakketi anuvic±reti manas±nupekkhati. Tassa yath±suta½ yath±pariyatta½ dhamma½ cetas± anuvitakkayato anuvic±rayato manas±nupekkhato pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimuccati. Aya½, ±nanda, tatiyo ±nisa½so k±lena atthupaparikkh±ya.
“Idh±nanda bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimutta½ hoti, anuttare ca kho upadhisaªkhaye citta½ avimutta½ hoti. So tamhi samaye maraºak±le labhati tath±gata½ dassan±ya. Tassa tath±gato dhamma½ deseti ±dikaly±ºa½ majjhekaly±ºa½…pe… brahmacariya½ pak±seti. Tassa ta½ dhammadesana½ sutv± anuttare upadhisaªkhaye citta½ vimuccati. Aya½, ±nanda, catuttho ±nisa½so k±lena dhammassavane.
“Puna capara½, ±nanda, bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimutta½ hoti, anuttare ca kho upadhisaªkhaye citta½ avimutta½ hoti. So tamhi samaye maraºak±le na heva kho labhati tath±gata½ dassan±ya, api ca kho tath±gatas±vaka½ labhati dassan±ya. Tassa tath±gatas±vako dhamma½ deseti ±dikaly±ºa½…pe… parisuddha½ brahmacariya½ pak±seti. Tassa ta½ dhammadesana½ sutv± anuttare upadhisaªkhaye citta½ vimuccati. Aya½, ±nanda, pañcamo ±nisa½so k±lena dhammassavane.
“Puna capara½, ±nanda, bhikkhuno pañcahi orambh±giyehi sa½yojanehi citta½ vimutta½ hoti, anuttare ca kho upadhisaªkhaye citta½ avimutta½ hoti. So tamhi samaye maraºak±le na heva kho labhati tath±gata½ dassan±ya, napi tath±gatas±vaka½ labhati dassan±ya; api ca kho yath±suta½ yath±pariyatta½ dhamma½ cetas± anuvitakketi anuvic±reti manas±nupekkhati. Tassa yath±suta½ yath±pariyatta½ dhamma½ cetas± anuvitakkayato anuvic±rayato manas±nupekkhato anuttare upadhisaªkhaye citta½ vimuccati. Aya½, ±nanda, chaµµho ±nisa½so k±lena atthupaparikkh±ya. Ime kho, ±nanda, cha ±nisa½s± k±lena dhammassavane k±lena atthupaparikkh±y±”ti. Dutiya½.
