Atha ca pana ±gantuk± bhikkh³ pakkamanti, na saºµhanti, riñcanti ±v±sa½. Ko nu kho hetu ko paccayo yena ±gantuk± bhikkh³ pakkamanti, na saºµhanti, riñcanti ±v±san”ti? Atha kho j±tibh³mak± up±sak± yen±yasm± dhammiko tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ dhammika½ etadavocu½– “pakkamatu, bhante, ±yasm± dhammiko sabbaso j±tibh³miya½ sattahi ±v±seh²”ti. Atha kho ±yasmato dhammikassa etadahosi– “pabb±jito khomhi j±tibh³makehi up±sakehi sabbaso j±tibh³miya½ sattahi ±v±sehi. Kaha½ nu kho d±ni gacch±m²”ti? Atha kho ±yasmato dhammikassa etadahosi– “ya½n³n±ha½ yena bhagav± tenupasaªkameyyan”ti.
Atha kho ±yasm± dhammiko pattac²varam±d±ya yena r±jagaha½ tena pakk±mi. Anupubbena yena r±jagaha½ gijjhak³µo pabbato yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinna½ kho ±yasmanta½ dhammika½ bhagav± etadavoca– “handa kuto nu tva½, br±hmaºa dhammika, ±gacchas²”ti? “Pabb±jito aha½, bhante, j±tibh³makehi up±sakehi sabbaso j±tibh³miya½ sattahi ±v±seh²”ti. “Ala½, br±hmaºa dhammika, ki½ te imin±, ya½ ta½ tato tato pabb±jenti, so tva½ tato tato pabb±jito mameva santike ±gacchasi”.
“Bh³tapubba½, br±hmaºa dhammika, s±muddik± v±ºij± t²radassi½ sakuºa½ gahetv± n±v±ya samudda½ ajjhog±hanti. Te at²radakkhiºiy± [at²radassaniy± (sy±.), at²radassiy± (ka.)] n±v±ya t²radassi½ sakuºa½ muñcanti. So gacchateva puratthima½ disa½, gacchati pacchima½ disa½, gacchati uttara½ disa½, gacchati dakkhiºa½ disa½, gacchati uddha½, gacchati anudisa½. Sace so samant± t²ra½ passati, tath±gatakova [tath±gato (ka.) d². ni. 1.497 passitabba½] hoti. Sace pana so samant± t²ra½ na passati tameva n±va½ pacc±gacchati. Evameva½ kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, ya½ ta½ tato tato pabb±jenti so tva½ tato tato pabb±jito mameva santike ±gacchasi.
“Bh³tapubba½ br±hmaºa dhammika, rañño korabyassa suppatiµµho n±ma nigrodhar±j± ahosi pañcas±kho s²tacch±yo manoramo. Suppatiµµhassa kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, nigrodhar±jassa dv±dasayojan±ni abhiniveso ahosi, pañca yojan±ni m³lasant±nak±na½. Suppatiµµhassa kho pana br±hmaºa dhammika, nigrodhar±jassa t±va mahant±ni phal±ni ahesu½; seyyath±pi n±ma ±¼hakath±lik±. Evamassa s±d³ni phal±ni ahesu½; seyyath±pi n±ma khudda½ madhu½ anelaka½. Suppatiµµhassa kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, nigrodhar±jassa eka½ khandha½ r±j± paribhuñjati saddhi½ itth±g±rena, eka½ khandha½ balak±yo paribhuñjati, eka½ khandha½ negamaj±napad± paribhuñjanti, eka½ khandha½ samaºabr±hmaº± paribhuñjanti, eka½ khandha½ mig± [migapakkhino (s². sy±. p².)] paribhuñjanti. Suppatiµµhassa kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, nigrodhar±jassa na koci phal±ni rakkhati, na ca suda½ [na ca puna (ka.)] aññamaññassa phal±ni hi½santi.
“Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, aññataro puriso suppatiµµhassa nigrodhar±jassa y±vadattha½ phal±ni bhakkhitv± s±kha½ bhañjitv± pakk±mi. Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, suppatiµµhe nigrodhar±je adhivatth±ya devat±ya etadahosi– ‘acchariya½ vata, bho, abbhuta½ vata, bho! Y±va p±po manusso [y±va p±pamanusso (sy±.), y±vat± p±pamanusso (ka.)], yatra hi n±ma suppatiµµhassa nigrodhar±jassa y±vadattha½ phal±ni bhakkhitv± s±kha½ bhañjitv± pakkamissati, ya½n³na suppatiµµho nigrodhar±j± ±yati½ phala½ na dadeyy±’ti. Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, suppatiµµho nigrodhar±j± ±yati½ phala½ na ad±si.
“Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, r±j± korabyo yena sakko dev±namindo tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± sakka½ dev±naminda½ etadavoca– ‘yagghe, m±risa, j±neyy±si suppatiµµho nigrodhar±j± phala½ na det²’ti? Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, sakko dev±namindo tath±r³pa½ iddh±bhisaªkh±ra½ abhisaªkh±si [abhisaªkh±resi (sy±. ka.)], yath± bhus± v±tavuµµhi ±gantv± suppatiµµha½ nigrodhar±ja½ pavattesi [p±tesi (s². p².)] umm³lamak±si. Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, suppatiµµhe nigrodhar±je adhivatth± devat± dukkh² dumman± assumukh² rudam±n± ekamanta½ aµµh±si.
“Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, sakko dev±namindo yena suppatiµµhe nigrodhar±je adhivatth± devat± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± suppatiµµhe nigrodhar±je adhivattha½ devata½ etadavoca– ‘ki½ nu tva½, devate, dukkh² dumman± assumukh² rudam±n± ekamanta½ µhit±’ti? ‘Tath± hi pana me, m±risa, bhus± v±tavuµµhi ±gantv± bhavana½ pavattesi umm³lamak±s²’ti. ‘Api nu tva½, devate, rukkhadhamme µhit±ya bhus± v±tavuµµhi ±gantv± bhavana½ pavattesi umm³lamak±s²’ti? ‘Katha½ pana, m±risa rukkho rukkhadhamme µhito hot²’ti? ‘Idha, devate, rukkhassa m³la½ m³latthik± haranti, taca½ tacatthik± haranti, patta½ pattatthik± haranti, puppha½ pupphatthik± haranti, phala½ phalatthik± haranti. Na ca tena devat±ya anattamanat± v± anabhinandi [anabhiraddhi (s².)] v± karaº²y±. Eva½ kho, devate, rukkho rukkhadhamme µhito hot²’ti. ‘Aµµhit±yeva kho me, m±risa, rukkhadhamme bhus± v±tavuµµhi ±gantv± bhavana½ pavattesi umm³lamak±s²’ti. ‘Sace kho tva½, devate, rukkhadhamme tiµµheyy±si, siy± [siy±pi (s². p².)] te bhavana½ yath±pure’ti? ‘Ýhass±maha½, [tiµµheyy±maha½ (sy±.)] m±risa rukkhadhamme, hotu me bhavana½ yath±pure”’ti.
“Atha kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, sakko dev±namindo tath±r³pa½ iddh±bhisaªkh±ra½ abhisaªkh±si [abhisaªkh±ri (sy±. ka.)], yath± bhus± v±tavuµµhi ±gantv± suppatiµµha½ nigrodhar±ja½ uss±pesi, sacchav²ni m³l±ni ahesu½. Evameva½ kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, api nu ta½ samaºadhamme µhita½ j±tibh³mak± up±sak± pabb±jesu½ sabbaso j±tibh³miya½ sattahi ±v±seh²”ti? “Katha½ pana, bhante, samaºo samaºadhamme µhito hot²”ti? “Idha, br±hmaºa dhammika, samaºo akkosanta½ na paccakkosati, rosanta½ na paµirosati, bhaº¹anta½ na paµibhaº¹ati. Eva½ kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, samaºo samaºadhamme µhito hot²”ti. “Aµµhita½yeva ma½, bhante, samaºadhamme j±tibh³mak± up±sak± pabb±jesu½ sabbaso j±tibh³miya½ sattahi ±v±seh²”ti.
[A. ni. 7.66; 7.73] “bh³tapubba½ br±hmaºa dhammika, sunetto n±ma satth± ahosi titthakaro k±mesu v²tar±go. Sunettassa kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, satthuno anek±ni s±vakasat±ni ahesu½. Sunetto satth± s±vak±na½ brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desesi. Ye kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, sunettassa satthuno brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desentassa citt±ni na pas±desu½ te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajji½su. Ye kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, sunettassa satthuno brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desentassa citt±ni pas±desu½ te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajji½su.
“Bh³tapubba½, br±hmaºa dhammika, m³gapakkho n±ma satth± ahosi…pe… aranemi n±ma satth± ahosi… kudd±lako n±ma satth± ahosi… hatthip±lo n±ma satth± ahosi… jotip±lo n±ma satth± ahosi titthakaro k±mesu v²tar±go. Jotip±lassa kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, satthuno anek±ni s±vakasat±ni ahesu½. Jotip±lo satth± s±vak±na½ brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desesi. Ye kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, jotip±lassa satthuno brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desentassa citt±ni na pas±desu½ te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajji½su. Ye kho pana, br±hmaºa dhammika, jotip±lassa satthuno brahmalokasahabyat±ya dhamma½ desentassa citt±ni pas±desu½ te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajji½su.
“Ta½ ki½ maññasi, br±hmaºa dhammika, yo ime cha satth±re titthakare k±mesu v²tar±ge, anekasatapariv±re sas±vakasaªghe paduµµhacitto akkoseyya paribh±seyya, bahu½ so apuñña½ pasaveyy±”ti? “Eva½, bhante”. “Yo kho, br±hmaºa dhammika, ime cha satth±re titthakare k±mesu v²tar±ge anekasatapariv±re sas±vakasaªghe paduµµhacitto akkoseyya paribh±seyya, bahu½ so apuñña½ pasaveyya. Yo eka½ diµµhisampanna½ puggala½ paduµµhacitto akkosati paribh±sati, aya½ tato bahutara½ apuñña½ pasavati. Ta½ kissa hetu? N±ha½, br±hmaºa dhammika, ito bahiddh± evar³pi½ khanti½ [evar³pa½ khanta½ (sy±.)] vad±mi, yath±ma½ sabrahmac±r²su. Tasm±tiha, br±hmaºa dhammika eva½ sikkhitabba½– ‘na no samasabrahmac±r²su [na no ±masabrahmac±r²su (sy±.), na no sabrahmac±r²su (s². p².)] citt±ni paduµµh±ni bhavissant²”’ti. Evañhi te, br±hmaºa dhammika, sikkhitabbanti.
“Sunetto m³gapakkho ca, aranemi ca br±hmaºo;
kudd±lako ahu satth±, hatthip±lo ca m±ºavo.
“Jotip±lo ca govindo, ahu sattapurohito;
ahi½sak± [abhisek± (sy±.)] at²ta½se, cha satth±ro yasassino.
“Nir±magandh± karuºedhimutt± [vimutt± (s². sy±. p².)], k±masa½yojan±tig± [k±masa½yojan±tit± (sy±.)];
k±mar±ga½ vir±jetv±, brahmalok³pag± ahu½ [ahu (bah³su), ah³ (ka. s².)].
“Ahesu½ s±vak± tesa½, anek±ni sat±nipi;
nir±magandh± karuºedhimutt±, k±masa½yojan±tig±;
k±mar±ga½ vir±jetv±, brahmalok³pag± ahu½ [ahu (bah³su), ah³ (ka. s².)].
“Yete is² b±hirake, v²tar±ge sam±hite;
paduµµhamanasaªkappo, yo naro paribh±sati;
bahuñca so pasavati, apuñña½ t±diso naro.
“Yo ceka½ diµµhisampanna½, bhikkhu½ buddhassa s±vaka½;
paduµµhamanasaªkappo yo naro paribh±sati;
aya½ tato bahutara½, apuñña½ pasave naro.
“Na s±dhur³pa½ ±s²de, diµµhiµµh±nappah±yina½;
sattamo puggalo eso, ariyasaªghassa vuccati.
“Av²tar±go k±mesu, yassa pañcindriy± mud³;
saddh± sati ca v²riya½, samatho ca vipassan±.
“T±disa½ bhikkhum±sajja, pubbeva upahaññati;
att±na½ upahantv±na, pacch± añña½ vihi½sati.
“Yo ca rakkhati att±na½, rakkhito tassa b±hiro;
tasm± rakkheyya att±na½, akkhato paº¹ito sad±”ti. Dv±dasama½.
