23. “Pañcime, bhikkhave, j±tar³passa upakkiles±, yehi upakkilesehi upakkiliµµha½ j±tar³pa½ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniya½ na ca pabhassara½ pabhaªgu ca na ca samm± upeti kamm±ya. Katame pañca? Ayo, loha½, tipu, s²sa½, sajjha½ [sajjhu (s².)]– ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca j±tar³passa upakkiles± yehi upakkilesehi upakkiliµµha½ j±tar³pa½ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniya½ na ca pabhassara½ pabhaªgu ca na ca samm± upeti kamm±ya. Yato ca kho, bhikkhave, j±tar³pa½ imehi pañcahi upakkilesehi vimutta½ [vippamutta½ (s².)] hoti, ta½ hoti j±tar³pa½ mudu ca kammaniyañca pabhassarañca na ca pabhaªgu samm± upeti kamm±ya. Yass± yass± ca [yassa kassaci (sy±. p².)] pi¼andhanavikatiy± ±kaªkhati– yadi muddik±ya yadi kuº¹al±ya yadi g²veyyak±ya [g²veyyakena (sy±. ka½. ka., a. ni. 3.102)] yadi suvaººam±l±ya– tañcassa attha½ anubhoti.
“Evameva½ kho, bhikkhave, pañcime cittassa upakkiles±, yehi upakkilesehi upakkiliµµha½ citta½ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniya½ na ca pabhassara½ pabhaªgu ca na ca samm± sam±dhiyati ±sav±na½ khay±ya. Katame pañca? K±macchando, by±p±do, thinamiddha½ [th²namiddha½ (s². sy±. ka½. p².)], uddhaccakukkucca½, vicikicch±– ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca cittassa upakkiles± yehi upakkilesehi upakkiliµµha½ citta½ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniya½ na ca pabhassara½ pabhaªgu ca na ca samm± sam±dhiyati ±sav±na½ khay±ya. Yato ca kho, bhikkhave, citta½ imehi pañcahi upakkilesehi vimutta½ hoti, ta½ hoti citta½ mudu ca kammaniyañca pabhassarañca na ca pabhaªgu samm± sam±dhiyati ±sav±na½ khay±ya. Yassa yassa ca abhiññ±sacchikaraº²yassa dhammassa citta½ abhininn±meti abhiññ±sacchikiriy±ya tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbata½ p±puº±ti sati sati ±yatane.
“So sace ±kaªkhati– ‘anekavihita½ iddhividha½ paccanubhaveyya½– ekopi hutv± bahudh± assa½, bahudh±pi hutv± eko assa½; ±vibh±va½, tirobh±va½; tirokuµµa½ tirop±k±ra½ tiropabbata½ asajjam±no gaccheyya½, seyyath±pi ±k±se; pathaviy±pi ummujjanimujja½ kareyya½, seyyath±pi udake; udakepi abhijjam±no gaccheyya½, seyyath±pi pathaviya½; ±k±sepi pallaªkena kameyya½, seyyath±pi pakkh² sakuºo; imepi candimas³riye [candimasuriye (s². sy±. ka½. p².)] eva½mahiddhike eva½mah±nubh±ve p±ºin± parimaseyya½ [par±maseyya½ (ka.)] parimajjeyya½ y±va brahmalok±pi k±yena vasa½ vatteyyan’ti, tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbata½ p±puº±ti sati sati ±yatane.
“So sace ±kaªkhati– ‘dibb±ya sotadh±tuy± visuddh±ya atikkantam±nusik±ya ubho sadde suºeyya½– dibbe ca m±nuse ca ye d³re santike c±’ti, tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbata½ p±puº±ti sati sati ±yatane.

“So sace ±kaªkhati– ‘dibbena cakkhun± visuddhena atikkantam±nusakena satte passeyya½ cavam±ne upapajjam±ne h²ne paº²te suvaººe dubbaººe, sugate duggate yath±kamm³page satte paj±neyya½– ime vata bhonto satt± k±yaduccaritena samann±gat± vac²duccaritena samann±gat± manoduccaritena samann±gat± ariy±na½ upav±dak± micch±diµµhik± micch±diµµhikammasam±d±n±, te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapann±; ime v± pana bhonto satt± k±yasucaritena samann±gat± vac²sucaritena samann±gat± manosucaritena samann±gat± ariy±na½ anupav±dak± samm±diµµhik± samm±diµµhikammasam±d±n±, te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapann±ti, iti dibbena cakkhun± visuddhena atikkantam±nusakena satte passeyya½ cavam±ne upapajjam±ne h²ne paº²te suvaººe dubbaººe, sugate duggate yath±kamm³page satte paj±neyyan’ti, tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbata½ p±puº±ti sati sati ±yatane.
“So sace ±kaªkhati– ‘±sav±na½ khay± an±sava½ cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ diµµheva dhamme saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihareyyan’ti, tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbata½ p±puº±ti sati sati ±yatane”ti. Tatiya½.
