193. Eka½ samaya½ bhagav± ves±liya½ viharati mah±vane k³µ±g±ras±l±ya½. Atha kho bhaddiyo licchavi yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho bhaddiyo licchavi bhagavanta½ etadavoca–
“Suta½ meta½, bhante– ‘m±y±v² samaºo gotamo ±vaµµani½ m±ya½ [±vaµµan²m±ya½ (s².), ±vaµµanim±ya½ (sy±. ka½. ka.) ma. ni. 2.60 passitabba½] j±n±ti y±ya aññatitthiy±na½ s±vake ±vaµµet²’ti. Ye te, bhante, evam±ha½su– ‘m±y±v² samaºo gotamo ±vaµµani½ m±ya½ j±n±ti y±ya aññatitthiy±na½ s±vake ±vaµµet²’ti, kacci te, bhante, bhagavato vuttav±dino, na ca bhagavanta½ abh³tena abbh±cikkhanti, dhammassa ca anudhamma½ by±karonti, na ca koci sahadhammiko v±d±nup±to g±rayha½ µh±na½ ±gacchati, anabbhakkh±tuk±m± hi maya½, bhante, bhagavantan”ti?
“Etha tumhe, bhaddiya, m± anussavena, m± parampar±ya, m± itikir±ya, m± piµakasampad±nena, m± takkahetu, m± nayahetu, m± ±k±raparivitakkena, m± diµµhinijjh±nakkhantiy±, m± bhabbar³pat±ya, m± ‘samaºo no gar³’ti. Yad± tumhe, bhaddiya, attan±va j±neyy±tha– ‘ime dhamm± akusal±, ime dhamm± s±vajj±, ime dhamm± viññugarahit±, ime dhamm± samatt± sam±dinn± ahit±ya dukkh±ya sa½vattant²’ti, atha tumhe, bhaddiya, pajaheyy±tha.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhaddiya, lobho purisassa ajjhatta½ uppajjam±no uppajjati hit±ya v± ahit±ya v±”ti? “Ahit±ya, bhante”. “Luddho pan±ya½, bhaddiya, purisapuggalo lobhena abhibh³to pariy±dinnacitto p±ºampi hanati, adinnampi ±diyati, parad±rampi gacchati, mus±pi bhaºati, parampi tathatt±ya [tadatth±ya (ka.) a. ni. 3.66] sam±dapeti ya½sa hoti d²gharatta½ ahit±ya dukkh±y±”ti. “Eva½, bhante”.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhaddiya, doso purisassa…pe… moho purisassa…pe… s±rambho purisassa ajjhatta½ uppajjam±no uppajjati hit±ya v± ahit±ya v±”ti? “Ahit±ya, bhante”. “S±raddho pan±ya½, bhaddiya, purisapuggalo s±rambhena abhibh³to pariy±dinnacitto p±ºampi hanati, adinnampi ±diyati, parad±rampi gacchati, mus±pi bhaºati, parampi tathatt±ya sam±dapeti ya½sa hoti d²gharatta½ ahit±ya dukkh±y±”ti. “Eva½, bhante”.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhaddiya, ime dhamm± kusal± v± akusal± v±”ti? “Akusal±, bhante”. “S±vajj± v± anavajj± v±”ti? “S±vajj±, bhante”. “Viññugarahit± v± viññuppasatth± v±”ti? “Viññugarahit±, bhante”. “Samatt± sam±dinn± ahit±ya dukkh±ya sa½vattanti, no v±? Katha½ v± ettha hot²”ti? “Samatt±, bhante, sam±dinn± ahit±ya dukkh±ya sa½vattanti. Eva½ no ettha hot²”ti.
“Iti kho, bhaddiya, ya½ ta½ te avocumh±– etha tumhe, bhaddiya, m± anussavena, m± parampar±ya, m± itikir±ya, m± piµakasampad±nena, m± takkahetu, m± nayahetu, m± ±k±raparivitakkena, m± diµµhinijjh±nakkhantiy±, m± bhabbar³pat±ya, m± ‘samaºo no gar³’ti. Yad± tumhe, bhaddiya, attan±va j±neyy±tha ‘ime dhamm± akusal±, ime dhamm± s±vajj±, ime dhamm± viññugarahit±, ime dhamm± samatt± sam±dinn± ahit±ya dukkh±ya sa½vattant²ti, atha tumhe, bhaddiya, pajaheyy±th±’ti, iti ya½ ta½ vutta½ idameta½ paµicca vutta½.
“Etha tumhe, bhaddiya, m± anussavena, m± parampar±ya, m± itikir±ya, m± piµakasampad±nena, m± takkahetu, m± nayahetu, m± ±k±raparivitakkena, m± diµµhinijjh±nakkhantiy±, m± bhabbar³pat±ya, m± ‘samaºo no gar³’ti. Yad± tumhe, bhaddiya, attan±va j±neyy±tha– ‘ime dhamm± kusal±, ime dhamm± anavajj±, ime dhamm± viññuppasatth±, ime dhamm± samatt± sam±dinn± hit±ya sukh±ya sa½vattant²’ti, atha tumhe, bhaddiya, upasampajja vihareyy±th±”ti.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhaddiya, alobho purisassa ajjhatta½ uppajjam±no uppajjati hit±ya v± ahit±ya v±”ti? “Hit±ya, bhante”. “Aluddho pan±ya½, bhaddiya, purisapuggalo lobhena anabhibh³to apariy±dinnacitto neva p±ºa½ hanati, na adinna½ ±diyati, na parad±ra½ gacchati, na mus± bhaºati, parampi tathatt±ya na sam±dapeti ya½’sa hoti d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±y±”ti. “Eva½, bhante”.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhaddiya, adoso purisassa…pe… amoho purisassa…pe… as±rambho purisassa ajjhatta½ uppajjam±no uppajjati hit±ya v± ahit±ya v±”ti? “Hit±ya, bhante”. “As±raddho pan±ya½, bhaddiya, purisapuggalo s±rambhena anabhibh³to apariy±dinnacitto neva p±ºa½ hanati, na adinna½ ±diyati, na parad±ra½ gacchati, na mus± bhaºati parampi tathatt±ya na sam±dapeti ya½’sa hoti d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±y±”ti. “Eva½, bhante”.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhaddiya, ime dhamm± kusal± v± akusal± v±”ti? “Kusal±, bhante”. “S±vajj± v± anavajj± v±”ti? “Anavajj±, bhante”. “Viññugarahit± v± viññuppasatth± v±”ti? “Viññuppasatth±, bhante”. “Samatt± sam±dinn± hit±ya sukh±ya sa½vattanti no v±? Katha½ v± ettha hot²”ti? “Samatt±, bhante, sam±dinn± hit±ya sukh±ya sa½vattanti. Eva½ no ettha hot²”ti.

Yad± tumhe, bhaddiya, attan±va j±neyy±tha– ‘ime dhamm± kusal±, ime dhamm± anavajj±, ime dhamm± viññuppasatth±, ime dhamm± samatt± sam±dinn± hit±ya sukh±ya sa½vattant²ti atha tumhe, bhaddiya, upasampajja vihareyy±th±’ti, iti ya½ ta½ vutta½ idameta½ paµicca vutta½.
“Ye kho te, bhaddiya, loke santo sappuris± te s±vaka½ eva½ sam±dapenti– ‘ehi tva½, ambho purisa, lobha½ vineyya [vineyya vineyya (s². sy±. ka½.)] vihar±hi. Lobha½ vineyya viharanto na lobhaja½ kamma½ karissasi k±yena v±c±ya manas±. Dosa½ vineyya vihar±hi. Dosa½ vineyya viharanto na dosaja½ kamma½ karissasi k±yena v±c±ya manas±. Moha½ vineyya vihar±hi. Moha½ vineyya viharanto na mohaja½ kamma½ karissasi k±yena v±c±ya manas±. S±rambha½ vineyya vihar±hi. S±rambha½ vineyya viharanto na s±rambhaja½ kamma½ karissasi k±yena v±c±ya manas±”’ti.
Eva½ vutte bhaddiyo licchavi bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “abhikkanta½, bhante…pe… up±saka½ ma½, bhante, bhagav± dh±retu ajjatagge p±ºupeta½ saraºa½ gatan”ti.
“Api nu t±ha½, bhaddiya, eva½ avaca½– ‘ehi me tva½, bhaddiya, s±vako hohi; aha½ satth± bhaviss±m²”’ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “Eva½v±di½ kho ma½, bhaddiya, evamakkh±yi½ eke samaºabr±hmaº± asat± tucch± mus± abh³tena abbh±cikkhanti– ‘m±y±v² samaºo gotamo ±vaµµani½ m±ya½ j±n±ti y±ya aññatitthiy±na½ s±vake ±vaµµet²”’ti. “Bhaddik± bhante, ±vaµµan² m±y±. Kaly±º², bhante, ±vaµµan² m±y±. Piy± me, bhante, ñ±tis±lohit± im±ya ±vaµµaniy± ±vaµµeyyu½, piy±nampi me assa ñ±tis±lohit±na½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya. Sabbe cepi, bhante, khattiy± im±ya ±vaµµaniy± ±vaµµeyyu½, sabbesampissa khattiy±na½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya. Sabbe cepi, bhante, br±hmaº±… vess± … sudd± im±ya ±vaµµaniy± ±vaµµeyyu½, sabbesampissa sudd±na½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±y±”ti.
“Evameta½, bhaddiya, evameta½, bhaddiya! Sabbe cepi, bhaddiya, khattiy± im±ya ±vaµµaniy± ±vaµµeyyu½ akusaladhammappah±n±ya kusaladhamm³pasampad±ya, sabbesampissa khattiy±na½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya. Sabbe cepi, bhaddiya, br±hmaº±… vess±… sudd± ±vaµµeyyu½ akusaladhammappah±n±ya kusaladhamm³pasampad±ya, sabbesampissa sudd±na½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya. Sadevako cepi, bhaddiya, loko sam±rako sabrahmako sassamaºabr±hmaº² paj± sadevamanuss± im±ya ±vaµµaniy± ±vaµµeyyu½ [±vaµµeyya (?)] Akusaladhammappah±n±ya kusaladhamm³pasampad±ya, sadevakassapissa lokassa sam±rakassa sabrahmakassa sassamaºabr±hmaºiy± paj±ya sadevamanuss±ya d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya. Ime cepi, bhaddiya, mah±s±l± im±ya ±vaµµaniy± ±vaµµeyyu½ akusaladhammappah±n±ya kusaladhamm³pasampad±ya, imesampissa mah±s±l±na½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya ( ) [(sace ceteyyu½) (s². sy±. ka½. p².), (±vaµµeyyu½) (ka.) a. ni. 8.44].
