15. “Yasmi½ bhikkhave, adhikaraºe ±panno [±patt±panno (ka.)] ca bhikkhu codako ca bhikkhu na s±dhuka½ attan±va att±na½ paccavekkhati tasmeta½, bhikkhave, adhikaraºe p±µikaªkha½ d²ghatt±ya kharatt±ya v±¼att±ya sa½vattissati, bhikkh³ ca na ph±su½ [na ph±su (ka.)] viharissant²ti [viharissanti (s². sy±. ka½. ka.)]. Yasmiñca kho, bhikkhave, adhikaraºe ±panno ca bhikkhu codako ca bhikkhu s±dhuka½ attan±va att±na½ paccavekkhati tasmeta½, bhikkhave, adhikaraºe p±µikaªkha½ na d²ghatt±ya kharatt±ya v±¼att±ya sa½vattissati, bhikkh³ ca ph±su½ viharissant²ti.
“Kathañca, bhikkhave, ±panno bhikkhu s±dhuka½ attan±va att±na½ paccavekkhati? Idha, bhikkhave, ±panno bhikkhu iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘aha½ kho akusala½ ±panno kañcideva [kiñcideva (ka.)] desa½ k±yena. Ma½ so [tasm± ma½ so (s². sy±.)] bhikkhu addasa akusala½ ±pajjam±na½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena. No ce aha½ akusala½ ±pajjeyya½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena, na ma½ so bhikkhu passeyya akusala½ ±pajjam±na½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena. Yasm± ca kho, aha½ akusala½ ±panno kiñcideva desa½ k±yena, tasm± ma½ so bhikkhu addasa akusala½ ±pajjam±na½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena. Anattamanavacan±ha½ [anattamanav±ca½ n±ha½ (ka.)] tena bhikkhun± vutto sam±no anattamano [attamano (ka.)] ahosi½. Anattamano sam±no paresa½ ±rocesi½. Aha½ ima½ bhikkhu½ addasa½ akusala½ ±pajjam±na½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena. No ce aya½ bhikkhu akusala½ ±pajjeyya kiñcideva desa½ k±yena, n±ha½ ima½ bhikkhu½ passeyya½ akusala½ ±pajjam±na½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena. Yasm± ca kho, aya½ bhikkhu akusala½ ±panno kiñcideva desa½ k±yena, tasm± aha½ ima½ bhikkhu½ addasa½ akusala½ ±pajjam±na½ kiñcideva desa½ k±yena. 16. Atha kho aññataro br±hmaºo yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavat± saddhi½ sammodi. Sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho so br±hmaºo bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “ko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu ko paccayo yena midhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajjant²”ti? “Adhammacariy±visamacariy±hetu kho, br±hmaºa, evamidhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajjant²”ti.
“Ko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu ko paccayo yena midhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjant²”ti? “Dhammacariy±samacariy±hetu kho, br±hmaºa evamidhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjant²”ti.
“Abhikkanta½, bho gotama! Abhikkanta½, bho gotama! Seyyath±pi, bho gotama, nikkujjita½ [nikujjita½ (ka.)] v± ukkujjeyya, paµicchanna½ v± vivareyya, m³¼hassa v± magga½ ±cikkheyya, andhak±re v± telapajjota½ dh±reyya– ‘cakkhumanto r³p±ni dakkhant²’ti, evameva½ bhot± gotamena anekapariy±yena dhammo pak±sito. Es±ha½ bhavanta½ gotama½ saraºa½ gacch±mi dhammañca bhikkhusaªghañca Up±saka½ ma½ bhava½ gotamo dh±retu ajjatagge p±ºupeta½ saraºa½ gatan”ti.
17. Atha kho j±ºussoºi [j±ºusoºi (ka.)] br±hmaºo yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavat± saddhi½ sammodi. Sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho j±ºussoºi br±hmaºo bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “ko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu ko paccayo yena midhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajjant²”ti? “Katatt± ca, br±hmaºa, akatatt± ca. Evamidhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajjant²”ti. “Ko pana, bho gotama, hetu ko paccayo yena midhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjant²”ti? “Katatt± ca, br±hmaºa, akatatt± ca. Evamidhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjant²”ti. “Na kho aha½ imassa bhoto gotamassa sa½khittena bh±sitassa vitth±rena attha½ avibhattassa vitth±rena attha½ ±j±n±mi. S±dhu me bhava½ gotamo tath± dhamma½ desetu yath± aha½ imassa bhoto gotamassa sa½khittena bh±sitassa vitth±rena attha½ avibhattassa vitth±rena attha½ ±j±neyyan”ti. “Tena hi, br±hmaºa, suº±hi, s±dhuka½ manasi karohi; bh±siss±m²”ti. “Eva½ bho”ti kho j±ºussoºi br±hmaºo bhagavato paccassosi. Eva½ kho, br±hmaºa, katatt± ca akatatt± ca evamidhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajjanti. Idha pana, br±hmaºa, ekaccassa k±yasucarita½ kata½ hoti, akata½ hoti k±yaduccarita½; vac²sucarita½ kata½ hoti, akata½ hoti vac²duccarita½; manosucarita½ kata½ hoti, akata½ hoti manoduccarita½. Eva½ kho, br±hmaºa, katatt± ca akatatt± ca evamidhekacce satt± k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjant²”ti.
“Abhikkanta½ bho gotama…pe… up±saka½ ma½ bhava½ gotamo dh±retu ajjatagge p±ºupeta½ saraºa½ gatan”ti.
18. Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinna½ kho ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ bhagav± etadavoca “eka½sen±ha½, ±nanda, akaraº²ya½ vad±mi k±yaduccarita½ vac²duccarita½ manoduccaritan”ti. “Yamida½, bhante, bhagavat± eka½sena akaraº²ya½ akkh±ta½ k±yaduccarita½ vac²duccarita½ manoduccarita½ tasmi½ akaraº²ye kayiram±ne ko ±d²navo p±µikaªkho”ti? “Yamida½, ±nanda, may± eka½sena akaraº²ya½ akkh±ta½ k±yaduccarita½ vac²duccarita½ manoduccarita½ tasmi½ akaraº²ye kayiram±ne aya½ ±d²navo p±µikaªkho– att±pi att±na½ upavadati, anuvicca viññ³ garahanti, p±pako kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, samm³¼ho k±la½ karoti, k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapajjati. Yamida½, ±nanda, may± eka½sena akaraº²ya½ akkh±ta½ k±yaduccarita½ vac²duccarita½ manoduccarita½ tasmi½ akaraº²ye kayiram±ne aya½ ±d²navo p±µikaªkho”ti.
“Eka½sen±ha½, ±nanda, karaº²ya½ vad±mi k±yasucarita½ vac²sucarita½ manosucaritan”ti. “Yamida½, bhante, bhagavat± eka½sena karaº²ya½ akkh±ta½ k±yasucarita½ vac²sucarita½ manosucarita½ tasmi½ karaº²ye kayiram±ne ko ±nisa½so p±µikaªkho”ti? “Yamida½, ±nanda, may± eka½sena karaº²ya½ akkh±ta½ k±yasucarita½ vac²sucarita½ manosucarita½ tasmi½ karaº²ye kayiram±ne aya½ ±nisa½so p±µikaªkho– att±pi att±na½ na upavadati, anuvicca viññ³ pasa½santi, kaly±ºo kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, asamm³¼ho k±la½ karoti, k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjati. 19. “Akusala½, bhikkhave, pajahatha. Sakk±, bhikkhave, akusala½ pajahitu½. No ceda½ [no ceta½ (sy±. ka½. p². ka.) sa½. ni. 3.28 passitabba½], bhikkhave, sakk± abhavissa akusala½ pajahitu½, n±ha½ eva½ vadeyya½– ‘akusala½, bhikkhave, pajahath±’ti. Yasm± ca kho, bhikkhave, sakk± akusala½ pajahitu½ tasm±ha½ eva½ vad±mi– ‘akusala½, bhikkhave, pajahath±’ti. Akusalañca hida½, bhikkhave [akusala½ bhikkhave (ka.)], pah²na½ ahit±ya dukkh±ya sa½vatteyya n±ha½ eva½ vadeyya½– ‘akusala½, bhikkhave, pajahath±’ti. Yasm± ca kho, bhikkhave, akusala½ pah²na½ hit±ya sukh±ya sa½vattati tasm±ha½ eva½ vad±mi– ‘akusala½ bhikkhave, pajahath±”’ti.

20. “Dveme, bhikkhave, dhamm± saddhammassa sammos±ya antaradh±n±ya sa½vattanti. Katame dve? Dunnikkhittañca padabyañjana½ attho ca dunn²to. Dunnikkhittassa bhikkhave, padabyañjanassa atthopi dunnayo hoti. Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve dhamm± saddhammassa sammos±ya antaradh±n±ya sa½vattant²”ti.
21. “Dveme, bhikkhave, dhamm± saddhammassa µhitiy± asammos±ya anantaradh±n±ya sa½vattanti. Katame dve? Sunikkhittañca padabyañjana½ attho ca sun²to. Sunikkhittassa, bhikkhave, padabyañjanassa atthopi sunayo hoti. Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve dhamm± saddhammassa µhitiy± asammos±ya anantaradh±n±ya sa½vattant²”ti.
