1003. Eva½ me suta½– eka½ samaya½ bhagav± kosalesu c±rika½ caram±no mahat± bhikkhusaªghena saddhi½ yena ve¼udv±ra½ n±ma kosal±na½ br±hmaºag±mo tadavasari. Assosu½ kho te ve¼udv±reyyak± br±hmaºagahapatik±– “samaºo khalu, bho, gotamo sakyaputto sakyakul± pabbajito kosalesu c±rika½ caram±no mahat± bhikkhusaªghena saddhi½ ve¼udv±ra½ anuppatto. Ta½ kho pana bhavanta½ gotama½ eva½ kaly±ºo kittisaddo abbhuggato– ‘itipi so bhagav± araha½ samm±sambuddho vijj±caraºasampanno sugato lokavid³ anuttaro purisadammas±rathi satth± devamanuss±na½ buddho bhagav± [bhagav±ti (s². sy±. ka½. p².)]. So ima½ loka½ sadevaka½ sam±raka½ sabrahmaka½ sassamaºabr±hmaºi½ paja½ sadevamanussa½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± pavedeti. So dhamma½ deseti ±dikaly±ºa½ majjhekaly±ºa½ pariyos±nakaly±ºa½ s±ttha½ sabyañjana½, kevalaparipuººa½ parisuddha½ brahmacariya½ pak±seti’. S±dhu kho pana tath±r³p±na½ arahata½ dassana½ hot²”ti.
Atha kho te ve¼udv±reyyak± br±hmaºagahapatik± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± appekacce bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Appekacce bhagavat± saddhi½ sammodi½su; sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Appekacce yena bhagav± tenañjali½ paº±metv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Appekacce bhagavato santike n±magotta½ s±vetv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Appekacce tuºh²bh³t± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Ekamanta½ nisinn± kho te ve¼udv±reyyak± br±hmaºagahapatik± bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “maya½, bho gotama, eva½k±m± eva½chand± eva½adhipp±y±– puttasamb±dhasayana½ ajjh±vaseyy±ma, k±sikacandana½ paccanubhaveyy±ma, m±l±gandhavilepana½ dh±reyy±ma, j±tar³parajata½ s±diyeyy±ma, k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjeyy±ma. Tesa½ no bhava½ gotamo amh±ka½ eva½k±m±na½ eva½chand±na½ eva½adhipp±y±na½ tath± dhamma½ desetu yath± maya½ puttasamb±dhasayana½ ajjh±vaseyy±ma…pe… sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapajjeyy±m±”ti.
“Att³pan±yika½ vo, gahapatayo, dhammapariy±ya½ desess±mi. Ta½ suº±tha, s±dhuka½ manasi karotha; bh±siss±m²”ti. “Eva½, bho”ti kho te ve¼udv±reyyak± br±hmaºagahapatik± bhagavato paccassosu½. Bhagav± etadavoca–
“Katamo ca, gahapatayo, attupan±yiko dhammapariy±yo? Idha, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘aha½ khosmi j²vituk±mo amarituk±mo sukhak±mo dukkhappaµik³lo. Yo kho ma½ j²vituk±ma½ amarituk±ma½ sukhak±ma½ dukkhappaµik³la½ j²vit± voropeyya, na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana para½ j²vituk±ma½ amarituk±ma½ sukhak±ma½ dukkhappaµik³la½ j²vit± voropeyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, parassa peso dhammo appiyo aman±po. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, kath±ha½ para½ tena sa½yojeyyan’ti! “Puna capara½, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘yo kho me adinna½ theyyasaªkh±ta½ ±diyeyya, na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana parassa adinna½ theyyasaªkh±ta½ ±diyeyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, parassa peso dhammo appiyo aman±po. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, kath±ha½ para½ tena sa½yojeyyan’ti So iti paµisaªkh±ya attan± ca adinn±d±n± paµivirato hoti, parañca adinn±d±n± veramaºiy± sam±dapeti, adinn±d±n± veramaºiy± ca vaººa½ bh±sati. “Puna capara½, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘yo kho me d±resu c±ritta½ ±pajjeyya, na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana parassa d±resu c±ritta½ ±pajjeyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, parassa peso dhammo appiyo aman±po. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, kath±ha½ para½ tena sa½yojeyyan’ti! So iti paµisaªkh±ya attan± ca k±mesumicch±c±r± paµivirato hoti, parañca k±mesumicch±c±r± veramaºiy± sam±dapeti, k±mesumicch±c±r± veramaºiy± ca vaººa½ bh±sati. “Puna capara½, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘yo kho me mus±v±dena attha½ bhañjeyya, na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana parassa mus±v±dena attha½ bhañjeyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, parassa peso dhammo appiyo aman±po. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, kath±ha½ para½ tena sa½yojeyyan’ti! So iti paµisaªkh±ya attan± ca mus±v±d± paµivirato hoti, parañca mus±v±d± veramaºiy± sam±dapeti, mus±v±d± veramaºiy± ca vaººa½ bh±sati. Evamass±ya½ vac²sam±c±ro tikoµiparisuddho hoti.
“Puna capara½, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– yo kho ma½ pisuº±ya v±c±ya mitte bhindeyya [mittehi bhedeyya (sy±. ka½. p². ka.)], na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana para½ pisuº±ya v±c±ya mitte bhindeyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½…pe… evamass±ya½ vac²sam±c±ro tikoµiparisuddho hoti.
“Puna capara½, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– yo kho ma½ pharus±ya v±c±ya samud±careyya, na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana para½ pharus±ya v±c±ya samud±careyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo…pe… evamass±ya½ vac²sam±c±ro tikoµiparisuddho hoti.
“Puna capara½, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘yo kho ma½ samphabh±sena samphappal±pabh±sena samud±careyya, na meta½ assa piya½ man±pa½. Ahañceva kho pana para½ samphabh±sena samphappal±pabh±sena samud±careyya½, parassapi ta½ assa appiya½ aman±pa½. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, parassa peso dhammo appiyo aman±po. Yo kho my±ya½ dhammo appiyo aman±po, kath±ha½ para½ tena sa½yojeyyan’ti! So iti paµisaªkh±ya attan± ca samphappal±p± paµivirato hoti parañca samphappal±p± veramaºiy± sam±dapeti, samphappal±p± veramaºiy± ca vaººa½ bh±sati. Evamass±ya½ vac²sam±c±ro tikoµiparisuddho hoti.
“So buddhe aveccappas±dena samann±gato hoti– itipi so bhagav±…pe… satth± devamanuss±na½ buddho bhagav±ti; dhamme …pe… saªghe aveccappas±dena samann±gato hoti suppaµipanno bhagavato s±vakasaªgho…pe… anuttara½ puññakkhetta½ lokass±ti. Ariyakantehi s²lehi samann±gato hoti akhaº¹ehi…pe… sam±dhisa½vattanikehi. Yato kho, gahapatayo, ariyas±vako imehi sattahi saddhammehi [dhammehi (s².)] samann±gato hoti imehi cat³hi ±kaªkhiyehi µh±nehi, so ±kaªkham±no attan±va att±na½ by±kareyya– ‘kh²ºanirayomhi kh²ºatiracch±nayoni [kh²ºatiracch±nayoniyo (s². sy±. ka½. p².), kh²ºatiracch±nayoniko (ka.)] kh²ºapettivisayo kh²º±p±yaduggativinip±to, sot±pannohamasmi avinip±tadhammo niyato sambodhipar±yaºo”’ti.
Eva½ vutte ve¼udv±reyyak± br±hmaºagahapatik± bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “abhikkanta½, bho gotama…pe… ete maya½ bhavanta½ gotama½ saraºa½ gacch±ma dhammañca bhikkhusaªghañca. Up±sake no bhava½ gotamo dh±retu ajjatagge p±ºupete [p±ºupeta½ (ka.)] saraºa½ gate”ti. Sattama½.
