239. “T²hi bhikkhave, dhammehi samann±gato bhikkhu diµµheva dhamme sukhasomanassabahulo viharati, yoni cassa ±raddh± hoti ±sav±na½ khay±ya. Katamehi t²hi? Indriyesu guttadv±ro hoti, bhojane mattaññ³, j±gariya½ anuyutto.
“Kathañca bhikkhave, bhikkhu indriyesu guttadv±ro hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cakkhun± r³pa½ disv± na nimittagg±h² hoti, n±nubyañjanagg±h²; yatv±dhikaraºamena½ cakkhundriya½ asa½vuta½ viharanta½ abhijjh±domanass± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± anv±ssaveyyu½. Tassa sa½var±ya paµipajjati; rakkhati cakkhundriya½; cakkhundriye sa½vara½ ±pajjati. Sotena sadda½ sutv±… gh±nena gandha½ gh±yitv±… jivh±ya rasa½ s±yitv±… k±yena phoµµhabba½ phusitv±… manas± dhamma½ viññ±ya na nimittagg±h² hoti n±nubyañjanagg±h²; yatv±dhikaraºamena½ manindriya½ asa½vuta½ viharanta½ abhijjh±domanass± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± anv±ssaveyyu½, tassa sa½var±ya paµipajjati; rakkhati manindriya½; manindriye sa½vara½ ±pajjati. Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, subh³miya½ c±tumah±pathe ±jaññaratho yutto assa µhito odhastapatodo [odhatapatodo (sy±. ka½.), odhasatapatodo (p².)]. Tamena½ dakkho yogg±cariyo assadammas±rathi abhiruhitv± v±mena hatthena rasmiyo gahetv±, dakkhiºena hatthena patoda½ gahetv±, yenicchaka½ yadicchaka½ s±reyyapi pacc±s±reyyapi. Evameva kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu imesa½ channa½ indriy±na½ ±rakkh±ya sikkhati sa½yam±ya sikkhati, dam±ya sikkhati, upasam±ya sikkhati. Eva½ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu indriyesu guttadv±ro hoti.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu paµisaªkh± yoniso ±h±ra½ ±h±reti– ‘neva dav±ya, na mad±ya, na maº¹an±ya, na vibh³san±ya, y±vadeva imassa k±yassa µhitiy±, y±pan±ya, vihi½s³paratiy±, brahmacariy±nuggah±ya, iti pur±ºañca vedana½ paµihaªkh±mi, navañca vedana½ na upp±dess±mi, y±tr± ca me bhavissati, anavajjat± ca ph±suvih±ro c±’ti. Seyyath±pi bhikkhave, puriso vaºa½ ±limpeyya y±vadeva rohanatth±ya [ropanatth±ya (s². p².), sevanatth±ya (sy±. ka½.), gopanatth±ya (ka.)], seyyath± v± pana akkha½ abbhañjeyya y±vadeva bh±rassa nittharaºatth±ya; eva½ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu paµisaªkh± yoniso ±h±ra½ ±h±reti– ‘neva dav±ya, na mad±ya, na maº¹an±ya, na vibh³san±ya, y±vadeva imassa k±yassa µhitiy±, y±pan±ya, vihi½s³paratiy±, brahmacariy±nuggah±ya, iti pur±ºañca vedana½ paµihaªkh±mi, navañca vedana½ na upp±dess±mi, y±tr± ca me bhavissati, anavajjat± ca ph±suvih±ro c±’ti. Rattiy± paµhama½ y±ma½ caªkamena nisajj±ya ±varaº²yehi dhammehi citta½ parisodheti. Rattiy± majjhima½ y±ma½ dakkhiºena passena s²haseyya½ kappeti p±de p±da½ acc±dh±ya sato sampaj±no uµµh±nasañña½ manasi karitv±. Rattiy± pacchima½ y±ma½ paccuµµh±ya caªkamena nisajj±ya ±varaº²yehi dhammehi citta½ parisodheti. Eva½ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu j±gariya½ anuyutto hoti.
