132. Eka½ samaya½ ±yasm± mah±kacc±no avant²su viharati makkarakate [makkarakaµe (s². sy±. ka½. p².)] araññakuµik±ya½. Atha kho lohiccassa br±hmaºassa sambahul± antev±sik± kaµµhah±rak± m±ºavak± yen±yasmato mah±kacc±nassa araññakuµik± tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± parito parito kuµik±ya anucaªkamanti anuvicaranti ucc±sadd± mah±sadd± k±nici k±nici seleyyak±ni karonti [selissak±ni karont± (s².)]– “ime pana muº¹ak± samaºak± ibbh± kaºh± [kiºh± (s². p².)] bandhup±d±pacc±, imesa½ bharatak±na½ sakkat± garukat± m±nit± p³jit± apacit±”ti. Atha kho ±yasm± mah±kacc±no vih±r± nikkhamitv± te m±ºavake etadavoca– “m± m±ºavak± saddamakattha; dhamma½ vo bh±siss±m²”ti. Eva½ vutte, te m±ºavak± tuºh² ahesu½. Atha kho ±yasm± mah±kacc±no te m±ºavake g±th±hi ajjhabh±si–
“S²luttam± pubbatar± ahesu½,
te br±hmaº± ye pur±ºa½ saranti;
gutt±ni dv±r±ni surakkhit±ni,
ahesu½ tesa½ abhibhuyya kodha½.
“Dhamme ca jh±ne ca rat± ahesu½,
te br±hmaº± ye pur±ºa½ saranti;
ime ca vokkamma jap±maseti,
gottena matt± visama½ caranti.
“Kodh±bhibh³t± puthu-attadaº¹± [kodh±bhibh³t±suputhuttadaº¹± (sy±. ka½. ka.)],
virajjam±n± sataºh±taºhesu;
aguttadv±rassa bhavanti mogh±,
supineva laddha½ purisassa vitta½.
“An±sak± thaº¹ilas±yik± ca;
p±to sin±nañca tayo ca ved±.
“Khar±jina½ jaµ±paªko, mant± s²labbata½ tapo;
kuhan± vaªkadaº¹± ca, udak±caman±ni ca.
“Vaºº± ete br±hmaº±na½, kat± kiñcikkhabh±van±;
cittañca susam±hita½, vippasannaman±vila½;
akhila½ sabbabh³tesu, so maggo brahmapattiy±”ti.
Atha kho te m±ºavak± kupit± anattaman± yena lohicco br±hmaºo tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± lohicca½ br±hmaºa½ etadavocu½– “yagghe! Bhava½ j±neyya, samaºo mah±kacc±no br±hmaº±na½ mante [manta½ (ka.)] eka½sena apavadati, paµikkosat²”ti? Eva½ vutte, lohicco br±hmaºo kupito ahosi anattamano. Atha kho lohiccassa br±hmaºassa etadahosi– “na kho pana meta½ patir³pa½ yoha½ aññadatthu m±ºavak±na½yeva sutv± samaºa½ mah±kacc±na½ akkoseyya½ [akkoseyya½ virujjheyya½ (sy±. ka½. ka.)] paribh±seyya½. Ya½n³n±ha½ upasaªkamitv± puccheyyan”ti.
Atha kho lohicco br±hmaºo tehi m±ºavakehi saddhi½ yen±yasm± mah±kacc±no tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmat± mah±kacc±nena saddhi½ sammodi. Sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho lohicco br±hmaºo ±yasmanta½ mah±kacc±na½ etadavoca– “±gama½su nu khvidha, bho kacc±na, amh±ka½ sambahul± antev±sik± kaµµhah±rak± m±ºavak±”ti? “¾gama½su khvidha te, br±hmaºa, sambahul± antev±sik± kaµµhah±rak± m±ºavak±”ti. “Ahu pana bhoto kacc±nassa tehi m±ºavakehi saddhi½ kocideva kath±sall±po”ti? “Ahu kho me, br±hmaºa, tehi m±ºavakehi saddhi½ kocideva kath±sall±po”ti “Yath± katha½ pana bhoto kacc±nassa tehi m±ºavakehi saddhi½ ahosi kath±sall±po”ti? “Eva½ kho me, br±hmaºa, tehi m±ºavakehi saddhi½ ahosi kath±sall±po–

Kitt±vat± nu kho, bho kacc±na, aguttadv±ro hot²”ti? “Idha, br±hmaºa, ekacco cakkhun± r³pa½ disv± piyar³pe r³pe adhimuccati, appiyar³pe r³pe by±pajjati, anupaµµhitak±yassati [anupaµµhit±ya satiy± (sy±. ka½. p². ka.) upari ±s²visavagge avassutasutte pana “anupaµµhitak±yassat²”tveva sabbattha dissati] ca viharati, parittacetaso tañca cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti yatthassa te uppann± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± aparises± nirujjhanti. Sotena sadda½ sutv±… gh±nena gandha½ gh±yitv±… jivh±ya rasa½ s±yitv±… k±yena phoµµhabba½ phusitv±… manas± dhamma½ viññ±ya piyar³pe dhamme adhimuccati, appiyar³pe ca dhamme by±pajjati, anupaµµhitak±yassati ca viharati, parittacetaso tañca cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti yatthassa te uppann± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± aparises± nirujjhanti. Eva½ kho, br±hmaºa, aguttadv±ro hot²”ti. “Acchariya½, bho kacc±na; abbhuta½, bho kacc±na! Y±vañcida½ bhot± kacc±nena aguttadv±rova sam±no aguttadv±roti akkh±to.
“‘Guttadv±ro’ti bhava½ kacc±no ±ha. Kitt±vat± nu kho, bho kacc±na, guttadv±ro hot²”ti? “Idha, br±hmaºa, bhikkhu cakkhun± r³pa½ disv± piyar³pe r³pe n±dhimuccati, appiyar³pe r³pe na by±pajjati, upaµµhitak±yassati ca viharati, appam±ºacetaso tañca cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti yatthassa te uppann± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± aparises± nirujjhanti. Sotena sadda½ sutv±… gh±nena gandha½ gh±yitv±… jivh±ya rasa½ s±yitv±… k±yena phoµµhabba½ phusitv±… manas± dhamma½ viññ±ya piyar³pe dhamme n±dhimuccati, appiyar³pe dhamme na by±pajjati, upaµµhitak±yassati ca viharati, appam±ºacetaso tañca cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti, yatthassa te uppann± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± aparises± nirujjhanti. Eva½ kho, br±hmaºa, guttadv±ro hot²”ti.
“Acchariya½, bho kacc±na; abbhuta½, bho kacc±na! Y±vañcida½ bhot± kacc±nena guttadv±rova sam±no guttadv±roti akkh±to. Abhikkanta½, bho kacc±na; abhikkanta½, bho kacc±na! Seyyath±pi, bho kacc±na, nikkujjita½ v± ukkujjeyya, paµicchanna½ v± vivareyya, m³¼hassa v± magga½ ±cikkheyya, andhak±re v± telapajjota½ dh±reyya, cakkhumanto r³p±ni dakkhant²ti; evameva½ bhot± kacc±nena anekapariy±yena dhammo pak±sito. Es±ha½, bho kacc±na, ta½ bhagavanta½ saraºa½ gacch±mi, dhammañca, bhikkhusaªghañca. Up±saka½ ma½ bhava½ kacc±no dh±retu ajjatagge p±ºupeta½ saraºa½ gata½. Yath± ca bhava½ kacc±no makkarakate up±sakakul±ni upasaªkamati; evameva lohiccakula½ upasaªkamatu. Tattha ye m±ºavak± v± m±ºavik± v± bhavanta½ kacc±na½ abhiv±dessanti paccuµµhissanti ±sana½ v± udaka½ v± dassanti, tesa½ ta½ bhavissati d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±y±”ti. Navama½.
