87. Eka½ samaya½ bhagav± r±jagahe viharati ve¼uvane kalandakaniv±pe. Tena kho pana samayena ±yasm± vakkali kumbhak±ranivesane viharati ±b±dhiko dukkhito b±¼hagil±no. Atha kho ±yasm± vakkali upaµµh±ke ±mantesi– “etha tumhe, ±vuso, yena bhagav± tenupasaªkamatha; upasaªkamitv± mama vacanena bhagavato p±de siras± vandatha– ‘vakkali, bhante, bhikkhu ±b±dhiko dukkhito b±¼hagil±no, so bhagavato p±de siras± vandat²’ti. Evañca vadetha– ‘s±dhu kira, bhante, bhagav± yena vakkali bhikkhu tenupasaªkamatu; anukampa½ up±d±y±”’ti. “Evam±vuso”ti kho te bhikkh³ ±yasmato vakkalissa paµissutv± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Ekamanta½ nisinn± kho te bhikkh³ bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “vakkali, bhante, bhikkhu ±b±dhiko dukkhito b±¼hagil±no, so bhagavato p±de siras± vandati; evañca pana vadeti– ‘s±dhu kira, bhante, bhagav± yena vakkali bhikkhu tenupasaªkamatu; anukampa½ up±d±y±”’ti. Adhiv±sesi bhagav± tuºh²bh±vena.
Atha kho bhagav± niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya yen±yasm± vakkali tenupasaªkami. Addas± kho ±yasm± vakkali bhagavanta½ d³ratova ±gacchanta½. Disv±na mañcake samadhosi [samañcosi (s².), samañcopi (sy±. ka½.) sa½ + dh³ + ² = samadhosi]. Atha kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ etadavoca– “ala½, vakkali, m± tva½ mañcake samadhosi. Santim±ni ±san±ni paññatt±ni; tatth±ha½ nis²diss±m²”ti. Nis²di bhagav± paññatte ±sane. Nisajja kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ etadavoca– “kacci te, vakkali, khaman²ya½, kacci y±pan²ya½, kacci dukkh± vedan± paµikkamanti, no abhikkamanti; paµikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no abhikkamo”ti? “Na me, bhante, khaman²ya½, na y±pan²ya½; b±¼h± me dukkh± vedan± abhikkamanti, no paµikkamanti; abhikkamos±na½ paññ±yati, no paµikkamo”ti. “Kacci te, vakkali, na kiñci kukkucca½, na koci vippaµis±ro”ti? “Taggha me, bhante, anappaka½ kukkucca½, anappako vippaµis±ro”ti. “Kacci pana ta½, vakkali, att± s²lato na upavadat²”ti? “Na kho ma½, bhante, att± s²lato upavadat²”ti. “No ce kira ta½, vakkali, att± s²lato upavadati; atha kiñca te kukkucca½ ko ca vippaµis±ro”ti? “Cirapaµik±ha½, bhante, bhagavanta½ dassan±ya upasaªkamituk±mo, natthi ca me k±yasmi½ t±vatik± balamatt±, y±vat±ha½ [y±ha½ (s².), y±y±ha½ (p².)] bhagavanta½ dassan±ya upasaªkameyyan”ti.
“Ala½ vakkali, ki½ te imin± p³tik±yena diµµhena? Yo kho, vakkali, dhamma½ passati so ma½ passati; yo ma½ passati so dhamma½ passati. Dhammañhi, vakkali, passanto ma½ passati; ma½ passanto dhamma½ passati.
“Ta½ ki½ maññasi, vakkali, r³pa½ nicca½ v± anicca½ v±”ti? “Anicca½ bhante”. “Ya½ pan±nicca½ dukkha½ v± ta½ sukha½ v±”ti? “Dukkha½, bhante”. “Ya½ pan±nicca½ dukkha½ vipariº±madhamma½, kalla½ nu ta½ samanupassitu½– ‘eta½ mama, esohamasmi, eso me att±”’ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “Vedan±… saññ±… saªkh±r±… viññ±ºa½ nicca½ v± anicca½ v±”ti? “Anicca½, bhante”…pe… eso me att±ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “Tasm±tiha…pe… eva½ passa½…pe… n±para½ itthatt±y±ti paj±n±t²”ti.
Atha kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ imin± ov±dena ovaditv± uµµh±y±san± yena gijjhak³µo pabbato tena pakk±mi. Atha kho ±yasm± vakkali acirapakkantassa bhagavato upaµµh±ke ±mantesi– “etha ma½, ±vuso, mañcaka½ ±ropetv± yena isigilipassa½ k±¼asil± tenupasaªkamatha. Kathañhi n±ma m±diso antaraghare k±la½ kattabba½ maññeyy±”ti? “Evam±vuso”ti kho te bhikkh³ ±yasmato vakkalissa paµissutv± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ mañcaka½ ±ropetv± yena isigilipassa½ k±¼asil± tenupasaªkami½su. Atha kho bhagav± tañca ratti½ tañca div±vasesa½ gijjhak³µe pabbate vih±si. Atha kho dve devat±yo abhikkant±ya rattiy± abhikkantavaºº± kevalakappa½ gijjhak³µa½ obh±setv± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su…pe… ekamanta½ aµµha½su. Ekamanta½ µhit± kho ek± devat± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “vakkali, bhante, bhikkhu vimokkh±ya cetet²”ti. Apar± devat± bhagavanta½ etadavoca “so hi n³na, bhante, suvimutto vimuccissat²”ti. Idamavocu½ t± devat±yo. Ida½ vatv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± padakkhiºa½ katv± tatthevantaradh±yi½su.
Atha kho bhagav± tass± rattiy± accayena bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “etha tumhe, bhikkhave, yena vakkali bhikkhu tenupasaªkamatha; upasaªkamitv± vakkali½ bhikkhu½ eva½ vadetha–
“‘Suº±vuso tva½, vakkali, bhagavato vacana½ dvinnañca devat±na½. Ima½, ±vuso, ratti½ dve devat±yo abhikkant±ya rattiy± abhikkantavaºº± kevalakappa½ gijjhak³µa½ obh±setv± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ aµµha½su. Ekamanta½ µhit± kho, ±vuso, ek± devat± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– vakkali, bhante, bhikkhu vimokkh±ya cetet²ti. Apar± devat± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– so hi n³na, bhante, suvimutto vimuccissat²ti. Bhagav± ca ta½, ±vuso vakkali, evam±ha– m± bh±yi, vakkali; m± bh±yi, vakkali! Ap±paka½ te maraºa½ bhavissati, ap±pik± k±lakiriy±”’ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti kho te bhikkh³ bhagavato paµissutv± yen±yasm± vakkali tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ etadavocu½– “suº±vuso vakkali, bhagavato vacana½ dvinnañca devat±nan”ti.
Atha kho ±yasm± vakkali upaµµh±ke ±mantesi– “etha ma½, ±vuso, mañcak± oropetha. Kathañhi n±ma m±diso ucce ±sane nis²ditv± tassa bhagavato s±sana½ sotabba½ maññeyy±”ti! “Evam±vuso”ti kho te bhikkh³ ±yasmato vakkalissa paµissutv± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ mañcak± oropesu½. “Ima½, ±vuso, ratti½ dve devat±yo abhikkant±ya rattiy±…pe… ekamanta½ aµµha½su. Ekamanta½ µhit± kho, ±vuso, ek± devat± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– ‘vakkali, bhante, bhikkhu vimokkh±ya cetet²’ti. Apar± devat± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– ‘so hi n³na, bhante, suvimutto vimuccissat²’ti. Bhagav± ca ta½, ±vuso vakkali, evam±ha– ‘m± bh±yi, vakkali; m± bh±yi, vakkali! Atha kho ±yasm± vakkali acirapakkantesu tesu bhikkh³su sattha½ ±haresi.
Atha kho te bhikkh³ yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Ekamanta½ nisinn± kho te bhikkh³ bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “vakkali, bhante, bhikkhu ±b±dhiko dukkhito b±¼hagil±no; so bhagavato p±de siras± vandati; evañca vadeti– ‘r³pa½ anicca½. T±ha½, bhante, na kaªkh±mi. Yadanicca½ ta½ dukkhanti na vicikicch±mi. Yadanicca½ dukkha½ vipariº±madhamma½, natthi me tattha chando v± r±go v± pema½ v±ti na vicikicch±mi. Vedan±… saññ±… saªkh±r± viññ±ºa½ anicca½. T±ha½, bhante, na kaªkh±mi. Yadanicca½ ta½ dukkhanti na vicikicch±mi. Yadanicca½ dukkha½ vipariº±madhamma½, natthi me tattha chando v± r±go v± pema½ v±ti na vicikicch±m²”’ti.
Atha kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “±y±ma, bhikkhave, yena isigilipassa½ k±¼asil± tenupasaªkamiss±ma; yattha vakkalin± kulaputtena sattham±haritan”ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti kho te bhikkh³ bhagavato paccassosu½. Atha kho bhagav± sambahulehi bhikkh³hi saddhi½ yena isigilipassa½ k±¼asil± tenupasaªkami. Addas± kho bhagav± ±yasmanta½ vakkali½ d³ratova mañcake vivattakkhandha½ sem±na½.
Tena kho pana samayena dh³m±yitatta½ timir±yitatta½ gacchateva purima½ disa½, gacchati pacchima½ disa½, gacchati uttara½ disa½, gacchati dakkhiºa½ disa½, gacchati uddha½ disa½, gacchati adho disa½, gacchati anudisa½. Atha kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, eta½ dh³m±yitatta½ timir±yitatta½ gacchateva purima½ disa½…pe… gacchati anudisan”ti. “Eva½, bhante”. “Eso kho, bhikkhave, m±ro p±pim± vakkalissa kulaputtassa viññ±ºa½ samanvesati [samannesati (ka. s². p².)]– ‘kattha vakkalissa kulaputtassa viññ±ºa½ patiµµhitan’ti? Appatiµµhitena ca, bhikkhave, viññ±ºena vakkali kulaputto parinibbuto”ti. Pañcama½.
