Tena kho pana samayena yamakassa n±ma bhikkhuno evar³pa½ p±paka½ diµµhigata½ uppanna½ hoti– “tath±ha½ bhagavat± dhamma½ desita½ ±j±n±mi, yath± kh²º±savo bhikkhu k±yassa bhed± ucchijjati vinassati, na hoti para½ maraº±”ti.
Assosu½ kho sambahul± bhikkh³ yamakassa kira n±ma bhikkhuno evar³pa½ p±paka½ diµµhigata½ uppanna½ hoti– “tath±ha½ bhagavat± dhamma½ desita½ ±j±n±mi, yath± kh²º±savo bhikkhu k±yassa bhed± ucchijjati vinassati, na hoti para½ maraº±”ti. Atha kho te bhikkh³ yen±yasm± yamako tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmat± yamakena saddhi½ sammodi½su. Sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. “M±, ±vuso yamaka, eva½ avaca, m± bhagavanta½ abbh±cikkhi. Na hi s±dhu bhagavato abbh±cikkhana½. Yato kho te bhikkh³ n±sakkhi½su ±yasmanta½ yamaka½ etasm± p±pak± diµµhigat± vivecetu½, atha kho te bhikkh³ uµµh±y±san± yen±yasm± s±riputto tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ s±riputta½ etadavocu½– “yamakassa n±ma, ±vuso s±riputta, bhikkhuno evar³pa½ p±paka½ diµµhigata½ uppanna½– ‘tath±ha½ bhagavat± dhamma½ desita½ ±j±n±mi yath± kh²º±savo bhikkhu k±yassa bhed± ucchijjati vinassati, na hoti para½ maraº±’ti. “Ahu kho me ta½, ±vuso s±riputta, pubbe aviddasuno p±paka½ diµµhigata½; idañca pan±yasmato s±riputtassa dhammadesana½ sutv± tañceva p±paka½ diµµhigata½ pah²na½, dhammo ca me abhisamito”ti.
“Sace ta½, ±vuso yamaka, eva½ puccheyyu½– ‘yo so, ±vuso yamaka, bhikkhu araha½ kh²º±savo so k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ki½ hot²’ti? Eva½ puµµho tva½, ±vuso yamaka, kinti by±kareyy±s²”ti? “Sace ma½, ±vuso, eva½ puccheyyu½– ‘yo so, ±vuso yamaka, bhikkhu araha½ kh²º±savo so k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ki½ hot²’ti? “S±dhu s±dhu, ±vuso yamaka! Tena h±vuso, yamaka, upama½ te kariss±mi etasseva atthassa bhiyyosomatt±ya ñ±º±ya. Seyyath±pi, ±vuso yamaka, gahapati v± gahapatiputto v± a¹¹ho mahaddhano mah±bhogo; so ca ±rakkhasampanno. Tassa kocideva puriso uppajjeyya anatthak±mo ahitak±mo ayogakkhemak±mo j²vit± voropetuk±mo. Tassa evamassa ‘aya½ kho gahapati v± gahapatiputto v± a¹¹ho mahaddhano mah±bhogo; so ca ±rakkhasampanno; n±ya½ [na h±ya½ (sy±. ka½.)] sukaro pasayha j²vit± voropetu½. Ya½n³n±ha½ anupakhajja j²vit± voropeyyan’ti. So ta½ gahapati½ v± gahapatiputta½ v± upasaªkamitv± eva½ vadeyya– ‘upaµµhaheyya½ ta½, bhante’ti. Tamena½ so gahapati v± gahapatiputto v± upaµµh±peyya. So upaµµhaheyya pubbuµµh±y² pacch±nip±t² ki½k±rapaµiss±v² man±pac±r² piyav±d². Tassa so gahapati v± gahapatiputto v± mittatopi na½ saddaheyya [daheyya (sy±. ka½. p². ka.)]; suhajjatopi na½ saddaheyya; tasmiñca viss±sa½ ±pajjeyya. Yad± kho, ±vuso, tassa purisassa evamassa– ‘sa½vissattho kho my±ya½ gahapati v± gahapatiputto v±’ti, atha na½ rahogata½ viditv± tiºhena satthena j²vit± voropeyya.
“Ta½ ki½ maññasi, ±vuso yamaka, yad± hi so puriso amu½ gahapati½ v± gahapatiputta½ v± upasaªkamitv± eva½ ±ha– ‘upaµµhaheyya½ ta½, bhante’ti, tad±pi so vadhakova. Vadhakañca pana santa½ na aññ±si– ‘vadhako me’ti. Yad±pi so upaµµhahati pubbuµµh±y² pacch±nip±t² ki½k±rapaµiss±v² man±pac±r² piyav±d², tad±pi so vadhakova. Vadhakañca pana santa½ na aññ±si– ‘vadhako me’ti. Yad±pi na½ rahogata½ viditv± tiºhena satthena j²vit± voropeti, tad±pi so vadhakova. Vadhakañca pana santa½ na aññ±si– ‘vadhako me”’ti. “Evam±vuso”ti. “Evameva kho, ±vuso, assutav± puthujjano ariy±na½ adass±v² ariyadhammassa akovido ariyadhamme avin²to, sappuris±na½ adass±v² sappurisadhammassa akovido sappurisadhamme avin²to r³pa½ attato samanupassati, r³pavanta½ v± att±na½; attani v± r³pa½, r³pasmi½ v± att±na½. Vedana½… sañña½… saªkh±re… viññ±ºa½ attato samanupassati, viññ±ºavanta½ v± att±na½; attani v± viññ±ºa½, viññ±ºasmi½ v± att±na½”.
“So anicca½ r³pa½ ‘anicca½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Anicca½ vedana½ ‘anicc± vedan±’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Anicca½ sañña½ ‘anicc± saññ±’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Anicce saªkh±re ‘anicc± saªkh±r±’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Anicca½ viññ±ºa½ ‘anicca½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti.
“Dukkha½ r³pa½ ‘dukkha½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Dukkha½ vedana½… dukkha½ sañña½… dukkhe saªkh±re… dukkha½ viññ±ºa½ ‘dukkha½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti.
“Anatta½ r³pa½ ‘anatt± r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Anatta½ vedana½… anatta½ sañña½… anatte saªkh±re… anatta½ viññ±ºa½ ‘anatta½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti.
“Saªkhata½ r³pa½ ‘saªkhata½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Saªkhata½ vedana½… saªkhata½ sañña½… saªkhate saªkh±re… saªkhata½ viññ±ºa½ ‘saªkhata½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti.
“Vadhaka½ r³pa½ ‘vadhaka½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Vadhaka½ vedana½ ‘vadhak± vedan±’ti… vadhaka½ sañña½ ‘vadhak± saññ±’ti… vadhake saªkh±re ‘vadhak± saªkh±r±’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Vadhaka½ viññ±ºa½ ‘vadhaka½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti.
“So r³pa½ upeti up±diyati adhiµµh±ti ‘att± me’ti. Vedana½… sañña½… saªkh±re… viññ±ºa½ upeti up±diyati adhiµµh±ti ‘att± me’ti. Tassime pañcup±d±nakkhandh± upet± up±dinn± d²gharatta½ ahit±ya dukkh±ya sa½vattanti.
“Sutav± ca kho, ±vuso, ariyas±vako ariy±na½ dass±v²…pe… sappurisadhamme suvin²to na r³pa½ attato samanupassati, na r³pavanta½ att±na½; na attani r³pa½, na r³pasmi½ att±na½. Na vedana½… na sañña½… na saªkh±re… na viññ±ºa½ attato samanupassati, na viññ±ºavanta½ att±na½; na attani viññ±ºa½, na viññ±ºasmi½ att±na½.
“So anicca½ r³pa½ ‘anicca½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti. Anicca½ vedana½ anicca½ sañña½… anicce saªkh±re anicca½ viññ±ºa½ ‘anicca½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti.
“Dukkha½ r³pa½ ‘dukkha½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti. Dukkha½ vedana½… dukkha½ sañña½… dukkhe saªkh±re… dukkha½ viññ±ºa½ ‘dukkha½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti.
“Anatta½ r³pa½ ‘anatt± r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti. Anatta½ vedana½… anatta½ sañña½… anatte saªkh±re… anatta½ viññ±ºa½ ‘anatt± viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti.
“Saªkhata½ r³pa½ ‘saªkhata½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti. Saªkhata½ vedana½… saªkhata½ sañña½… saªkhate saªkh±re… saªkhata½ viññ±ºa½ ‘saªkhata½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti.
“Vadhaka½ r³pa½ ‘vadhaka½ r³pan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti. Vadhaka½ vedana½… vadhaka½ sañña½… vadhake saªkh±re “vadhak± saªkh±r±”ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti. Vadhaka½ viññ±ºa½ ‘vadhaka½ viññ±ºan’ti yath±bh³ta½ paj±n±ti.
“So r³pa½ na upeti, na up±diyati, n±dhiµµh±ti– ‘att± me’ti. Vedana½… sañña½… saªkh±re… viññ±ºa½ na upeti, na up±diyati, n±dhiµµh±ti– ‘att± me’ti. Tassime pañcup±d±nakkhandh± anupet± anup±dinn± d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya sa½vattant²”ti. “Evameta½, ±vuso s±riputta, hoti yesa½ ±yasmant±na½ t±dis± sabrahmac±rino anukampak± atthak±m± ov±dak± anus±sak±.
