“Dasayime, bhikkhave, ariy±v±s±, ye ariy± ±vasi½su v± ±vasanti v± ±vasissanti v±. Katame dasa? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu pañcaªgavippah²no hoti cha¼aªgasamann±gato, ek±rakkho, catur±passeno, panuººapaccekasacco, samavayasaµµhesano, an±vilasaªkappo, passaddhak±yasaªkh±ro, suvimuttacitto, suvimuttapañño. Ime kho, bhikkhave, dasa ariy±v±s±”ti (a. ni. 10.19).
Vussat²ti v± vusita½, ariyamaggo, ariyaphalañca, ta½ etassa atth²ti atisayavacanicch±vasena arah± “vusitav±”ti vutto. Karaº²yanti pariññ±pah±nabh±van±sacchikiriyam±ha. Ta½ pana yasm± cat³hi maggehi cat³su saccesu kattabbatt± so¼asavidhanti veditabba½. Ten±ha “cat³hi maggehi karaº²yan”ti. Bh±r±ti os²d±panaµµhena bh±r± viy±ti bh±r±. Vuttañhi “bh±r± have pañcakkhandh±”ti-±di (sa½. ni. 3.22). Attano yonisomanasik±r±yattanti attupanibandha½, sasant±napariy±pannatt± att±na½ avijahana½. Tayida½ yadipi sabbasmi½ anavajjadhamme sambhavati, akuppasabh±v±parih±nadhammesu pana aggabh³te arahatte s±tisaya½, netares³ti dassento ±ha “attano paramatthaµµhena v±”ti, uttamaµµhabh±ven±ti attho.
Suttantanayo n±ma pariy±yanayoti nippariy±yanayena sa½yojan±ni dassento “bhavar±ga-iss±macchariyasa½yojanan”ti ±ha, na pana “r³par±go”ti-±din±. Bhavesu sa½yojant²ti kilesakammavip±kavaµµ±na½ paccayo hutv± nissaritu½ appad±navasena bandhanti. Satipi hi aññesa½ tappaccayabh±ve na vin± sa½yojan±ni tesa½ tappaccayabh±vo atthi, orambh±giya-uddhambh±giyasaªgahitehi ca tehi ta½ta½bhavanibbattakakammaniyamo bhavaniyamo ca hoti na ca upacchinnasa½yojanassa kat±nipi kamm±ni bhava½ nibbattent²ti tesa½yeva sa½yojanaµµho daµµhabbo.
Samm± aññ±y±ti ±j±nanabh³t±ya aggamaggapaññ±ya samm± yath±bh³ta½ dukkh±d²su yo yath± j±nitabbo, ta½ tath± j±nitv±. Cittavimutti sabbassa cittasa½kilesassa vissaggo. Nibb±n±dhimutti nibb±ne adhimuccana½ tattha ninnapoºapabbh±rat±. Tanti pathav²-±dika½. Pariññ±ta½, na puthujjanassa viya apariññ±ta½, sekkhassa viya pariññeyya½ v±. Tasm±ti pariññ±tatt±.
Catutthapañcamachaµµhav±r± tattha tattha kilesanibb±nakittanavasena pavattatt± nibb±nav±r± n±ma. Tattha pathav²-±d²na½ pariññ±tatt± amaññan±, s± pana pariññ± r±g±d²na½ khayena siddh±ti imassa atthassa d²panavasena p±¼i pavatt±ti dassento “pariññ±ta½ tass±ti sabbapadehi yojetv± puna khay± r±gassa v²tar±gatt±ti yojetabba½. Esa nayo itares³”ti ±ha. Tattha itares³ti pañcamachaµµhav±resu. Yadi eva½ kasm± p±¼i eva½ na dissat²ti ±ha “desan± pana ekattha vutta½ sabbattha vuttameva hot²ti sa½khitt±”ti.
Na khay± r±gassa v²tar±go sabbaso appah²nar±gatt±. Vikkhambhitar±go hi soti. B±hirakaggahaºañcettha tath±bh±vasseva tesu labbhanato, na tesu eva tath±bh±vassa labbhanato. Id±ni y± s± “pariññ±ta½ tass±”ti sabbapadehi yojan± vutt±, ta½ vin±pi nibb±nav±ra-atthayojana½ dassetu½ “yath± c±”ti-±di vutta½. Tattha maññana½ na maññat²ti maññan± nappavattat²ti attho. Maññan±ya maññitabbattepi tass± vatthu-antogadhatt±ti evamettha attho daµµhabbo.
Yadipi pariññ±tapada½ aggahetv± nibb±nav±radesan± pavatt±, evampi “khay±”ti-±dipadehi pariññ±siddhi eva pak±s²yat²ti ko tesa½ visesoti codana½ sandh±y±ha “ettha c±”ti-±di.
