364. Eva½ me suta½– eka½ samaya½ bhagav± ves±liya½ viharati mah±vane k³µ±g±ras±l±ya½. Tena kho pana samayena bhagav± pubbaºhasamaya½ sunivattho hoti pattac²varam±d±ya ves±li½ piº¹±ya pavisituk±mo [pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya… pavisituk±mo hoti (s².)]. Atha kho saccako nigaºµhaputto jaªgh±vih±ra½ anucaªkamam±no anuvicaram±no yena mah±vana½ k³µ±g±ras±l± tenupasaªkami. Addas± kho ±yasm± ±nando saccaka½ nigaºµhaputta½ d³ratova ±gacchanta½. Disv±na bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “aya½, bhante, saccako nigaºµhaputto ±gacchati bhassappav±dako paº¹itav±do s±dhusammato bahujanassa. Eso kho, bhante, avaººak±mo buddhassa, avaººak±mo dhammassa, avaººak±mo saªghassa. S±dhu, bhante, bhagav± muhutta½ nis²datu anukampa½ up±d±y±”ti. Nis²di bhagav± paññatte ±sane. Atha kho saccako nigaºµhaputto yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavat± saddhi½ sammodi, sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Bh³tapubba½, bho gotama, s±r²rik±ya dukkh±ya vedan±ya phuµµhassa sato ³rukkhambhopi n±ma bhavissati, hadayampi n±ma phalissati, uºhampi lohita½ mukhato uggamissati, umm±dampi p±puºissati [p±puºissanti (sy±. ka½.)] cittakkhepa½. 366. “Kinti pana te, aggivessana, k±yabh±van± sut±”ti? “Seyyathida½– nando vaccho, kiso sa½kicco, makkhali gos±lo– etehi, bho gotama, acelak± mutt±c±r± hatth±palekhan± na-ehibhaddantik± natiµµhabhaddantik± [na-ehibhadantik±, natiµµhabhadantik± (s². sy±. ka½. p². ka.)] na abhihaµa½ na uddissakata½ na nimantana½ s±diyanti, te na kumbhimukh± paµiggaºhanti na ka¼opimukh± paµiggaºhanti na e¼akamantara½ na daº¹amantara½ na musalamantara½ na dvinna½ bhuñjam±n±na½ na gabbhiniy± na p±yam±n±ya na purisantaragat±ya na saªkitt²su na yattha s± upaµµhito hoti na yattha makkhik± saº¹asaº¹ac±rin² na maccha½ na ma½sa½ na sura½ na meraya½ na thusodaka½ pivanti. “Ki½ pana te, aggivessana, t±vatakeneva y±pent²”ti? “No hida½, bho gotama. Appekad±, bho gotama, u¼±r±ni u¼±r±ni kh±dan²y±ni kh±danti, u¼±r±ni u¼±r±ni bhojan±ni bhuñjanti, u¼±r±ni u¼±r±ni s±yan²y±ni s±yanti, u¼±r±ni u¼±r±ni p±n±ni pivanti. Te ima½ k±ya½ bala½ g±henti n±ma, br³henti n±ma, medenti n±m±”ti.
“Ya½ kho te, aggivessana, purima½ pah±ya pacch± upacinanti, eva½ imassa k±yassa ±cay±pacayo hoti. Kinti pana te, aggivessana, cittabh±van± sut±”ti? Cittabh±van±ya kho saccako nigaºµhaputto bhagavat± puµµho sam±no na samp±y±si.
367. Atha kho bhagav± saccaka½ nigaºµhaputta½ etadavoca– “y±pi kho te es±, aggivessana, purim± k±yabh±van± bh±sit± s±pi ariyassa vinaye no dhammik± k±yabh±van±. K±yabh±vanampi [k±yabh±vana½ hi (s². p². ka.)] kho tva½, aggivessana, na aññ±si, kuto pana tva½ cittabh±vana½ j±nissasi Api ca, aggivessana, yath± abh±vitak±yo ca hoti abh±vitacitto ca, bh±vitak±yo ca hoti bh±vitacitto ca. So sukh±ya vedan±ya phuµµho sam±no na sukhas±r±g² ca hoti, na sukhas±r±gitañca ±pajjati. Tassa s± sukh± vedan± nirujjhati. Sukh±ya vedan±ya nirodh± uppajjati dukkh± vedan±. 371. “Kiñhi no siy±, aggivessana? Idha me, aggivessana, pubbeva sambodh± anabhisambuddhassa bodhisattasseva sato etadahosi– ‘samb±dho ghar±v±so raj±patho, abbhok±so pabbajj±. Nayida½ sukara½ ag±ra½ ajjh±vasat± ekantaparipuººa½ ekantaparisuddha½ saªkhalikhita½ brahmacariya½ caritu½. Ya½n³n±ha½ kesamassu½ oh±retv± k±s±y±ni vatth±ni acch±detv± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajeyyan’ti. So kho aha½, aggivessana, aparena samayena daharova sam±no, susuk±¼akeso bhadrena yobbanena samann±gato paµhamena vayas±, ak±mak±na½ m±t±pit³na½ assumukh±na½ rudant±na½, kesamassu½ oh±retv± k±s±y±ni vatth±ni acch±detv± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbaji½. So eva½ pabbajito sam±no ki½kusalagaves² anuttara½ santivarapada½ pariyesam±no yena ±¼±ro k±l±mo tenupasaªkami½; upasaªkamitv± ±¼±ra½ k±l±ma½ etadavoca½– ‘icch±maha½, ±vuso k±l±ma, imasmi½ dhammavinaye brahmacariya½ caritun’ti. Eva½ vutte, aggivessana, ±¼±ro k±l±mo ma½ etadavoca– ‘viharat±yasm±, t±diso aya½ dhammo yattha viññ³ puriso nacirasseva saka½ ±cariyaka½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihareyy±’ti. So kho aha½, aggivessana, nacirasseva khippameva ta½ dhamma½ pariy±puºi½. So kho aha½, aggivessana, t±vatakeneva oµµhapahatamattena lapital±panamattena ñ±ºav±dañca vad±mi therav±dañca, ‘j±n±mi pass±m²’ti ca paµij±n±mi, ahañceva aññe ca. Tassa mayha½, aggivessana, etadahosi– ‘na kho ±¼±ro k±l±mo ima½ dhamma½ kevala½ saddh±mattakena saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihar±m²ti pavedeti, addh± ±¼±ro k±l±mo ima½ dhamma½ j±na½ passa½ viharat²”’ti.
“Atha khv±ha½, aggivessana, yena ±¼±ro k±l±mo tenupasaªkami½; upasaªkamitv± ±¼±ra½ k±l±ma½ etadavoca½– ‘kitt±vat± no, ±vuso k±l±ma, ima½ dhamma½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihar±m²ti pavedes²’ti? “Atha khv±ha½, aggivessana, yena ±¼±ro k±l±mo tenupasaªkami½; upasaªkamitv± ±¼±ra½ k±l±ma½ etadavoca½– ‘ett±vat± no, ±vuso k±l±ma ima½ dhamma½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja pavedes²’ti? ‘Ett±vat± kho aha½, ±vuso, ima½ dhamma½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja pavedem²’ti. ‘Ahampi kho, ±vuso, ett±vat± ima½ dhamma½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihar±m²’ti. ‘L±bh± no, ±vuso, suladdha½ no, ±vuso, ye maya½ ±yasmanta½ t±disa½ sabrahmac±ri½ pass±ma.
