359. “Seyyath±pi aggivessana, puriso s±ratthiko s±ragaves² s±rapariyesana½ caram±no tiºha½ kuµh±ri½ [kudh±ri½ (sy±. ka½. ka.)] ±d±ya vana½ paviseyya. So tattha passeyya mahanta½ kadalikkhandha½ uju½ nava½ akukkukaj±ta½ [akukkuµaj±ta½ (sy±. ka½.)]. Tamena½ m³le chindeyya, m³le chetv± agge chindeyya, agge chetv± pattavaµµi½ vinibbhujeyya [vinibbhujjeyya (ka.)]. So tattha pattavaµµi½ vinibbhujanto pheggumpi n±dhigaccheyya, kuto s±ra½? Evameva kho tva½, aggivessana, may± sakasmi½ v±de samanuyuñjiyam±no samanug±hiyam±no samanubh±siyam±no ritto tuccho aparaddho. Bh±sit± kho pana te es±, aggivessana, ves±liya½ parisati v±c±– ‘n±ha½ ta½ pass±mi samaºa½ v± br±hmaºa½ v±, saªghi½ gaºi½ gaº±cariya½, api arahanta½ samm±sambuddha½ paµij±nam±na½, yo may± v±dena v±da½ sam±raddho na saªkampeyya na sampakampeyya na sampavedheyya, yassa na kacchehi sed± mucceyyu½. Th³ºa½ cep±ha½ acetana½ v±dena v±da½ sam±rabheyya½ s±pi may± v±dena v±da½ sam±raddh± saªkampeyya sampakampeyya sampavedheyya. Ko pana v±do manussabh³tass±’ti? Tuyha½ kho pana, aggivessana, appekacc±ni sedaphusit±ni nal±µ± mutt±ni, uttar±saªga½ vinibhinditv± bh³miya½ patiµµhit±ni. Mayha½ kho pana, aggivessana, natthi etarahi k±yasmi½ sedo”ti. Atha kho dummukho licchaviputto saccaka½ nigaºµhaputta½ tuºh²bh³ta½ maªkubh³ta½ pattakkhandha½ adhomukha½ pajjh±yanta½ appaµibh±na½ viditv± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “upam± ma½, bhagav±, paµibh±t²”ti. “Paµibh±tu ta½, dummukh±”ti bhagav± avoca. “Seyyath±pi, bhante, g±massa v± nigamassa v± avid³re pokkharaº². Tatr±ssa kakkaµako. Eva½ vimuttacitto kho, aggivessana, bhikkhu tath±gataññeva sakkaroti garu½ karoti m±neti p³jeti– buddho so bhagav± bodh±ya dhamma½ deseti, danto so bhagav± damath±ya dhamma½ deseti, santo so bhagav± samath±ya dhamma½ deseti, tiººo so bhagav± taraº±ya dhamma½ deseti, parinibbuto so bhagav± parinibb±n±ya dhamma½ deset²”ti.
362. Eva½ vutte, saccako nigaºµhaputto bhagavanta½ etadavoca “mayameva, bho gotama, dha½s², maya½ pagabb±, ye maya½ bhavanta½ gotama½ v±dena v±da½ ±s±detabba½ amaññimha. Siy± hi, bho gotama, hatthi½ pabhinna½ ±sajja purisassa sotthibh±vo, na tveva bhavanta½ gotama½ ±sajja siy± purisassa sotthibh±vo. Siy± hi, bho gotama, pajjalita½ [jalanta½ (s². p².)] aggikkhandha½ ±sajja purisassa sotthibh±vo na tveva bhavanta½ gotama½ ±sajja siy± purisassa sotthibh±vo. Siy± hi, bho gotama, ±s²visa½ ghoravisa½ ±sajja purisassa sotthibh±vo, na tveva bhavanta½ gotama½ ±sajja siy± purisassa sotthibh±vo. Mayameva, bho gotama, dha½s², maya½ pagabb±, ye maya½ bhavanta½ gotama½ v±dena v±da½ ±s±detabba½ amaññimha. 363. Atha kho saccako nigaºµhaputto bhagavato adhiv±sana½ viditv± te licchav² ±mantesi– “suºantu me bhonto licchav², samaºo me gotamo nimantito sv±tan±ya saddhi½ bhikkhusaªghena. Tena me abhihareyy±tha yamassa patir³pa½ maññeyy±th±”ti. Atha kho te licchav² tass± rattiy± accayena saccakassa nigaºµhaputtassa pañcamatt±ni th±lip±kasat±ni bhatt±bhih±ra½ abhihari½su. Atha kho nigaºµhaputto sake ±r±me paº²ta½ kh±dan²ya½ bhojan²ya½ paµiy±d±petv± bhagavato k±la½ ±roc±pesi– “k±lo, bho gotama, niµµhita½ bhattan”ti. Atha kho bhagav± pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya yena saccakassa nigaºµhaputtassa ±r±mo tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± paññatte ±sane nis²di saddhi½ bhikkhusaªghena. Atha kho saccako nigaºµhaputto buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ paº²tena kh±dan²yena bhojan²yena sahatth± santappesi sampav±resi. Atha kho saccako nigaºµhaputto bhagavanta½ bhutt±vi½ on²tapattap±ºi½ aññatara½ n²ca½ ±sana½ gahetv± ekamanta½ nis²di.
