Atha kho sambahul± bhikkh³ yen±yasm± ±nando tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ etadavocu½– “cirassut± no, ±vuso ±nanda, bhagavato sammukh± dhamm² kath±. S±dhu maya½, ±vuso ±nanda, labheyy±ma bhagavato sammukh± dhammi½ katha½ savan±y±”ti. “Tena h±yasmanto yena rammakassa br±hmaºassa assamo tenupasaªkamatha; appeva n±ma labheyy±tha bhagavato sammukh± dhammi½ katha½ savan±y±”ti. “Evam±vuso”ti kho te bhikkh³ ±yasmato ±nandassa paccassosu½.
Atha kho bhagav± s±vatthiya½ piº¹±ya caritv± pacch±bhatta½ piº¹ap±tapaµikkanto ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ ±mantesi– “±y±m±nanda, yena pubb±r±mo mig±ram±tup±s±do tenupasaªkamiss±ma div±vih±r±y±”ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavato paccassosi. Atha kho bhagav± ±yasmat± ±nandena saddhi½ yena pubb±r±mo mig±ram±tup±s±do tenupasaªkami div±vih±r±ya. Atha kho bhagav± s±yanhasamaya½ paµisall±n± vuµµhito ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ ±mantesi– “±y±m±nanda, yena pubbakoµµhako tenupasaªkamiss±ma gatt±ni parisiñcitun”ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavato paccassosi.
273. Atha kho bhagav± ±yasmat± ±nandena saddhi½ yena pubbakoµµhako tenupasaªkami gatt±ni parisiñcitu½. Pubbakoµµhake gatt±ni parisiñcitv± paccuttaritv± ekac²varo aµµh±si gatt±ni pubb±payam±no. Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “aya½, bhante, rammakassa br±hmaºassa assamo avid³re. Ramaº²yo, bhante, rammakassa br±hmaºassa assamo; p±s±diko, bhante, rammakassa br±hmaºassa assamo. S±dhu, bhante, bhagav± yena rammakassa br±hmaºassa assamo tenupasaªkamatu anukampa½ up±d±y±”ti. Adhiv±sesi bhagav± tuºh²bh±vena.
Atha kho bhagav± yena rammakassa br±hmaºassa assamo tenupasaªkami. Tena kho pana samayena sambahul± bhikkh³ rammakassa br±hmaºassa assame dhammiy± kath±ya sannisinn± honti. Atha kho bhagav± bahidv±rakoµµhake aµµh±si kath±pariyos±na½ ±gamayam±no. Atha kho bhagav± kath±pariyos±na½ viditv± ukk±sitv± agga¼a½ ±koµesi. Vivari½su kho te bhikkh³ bhagavato dv±ra½. Atha kho bhagav± rammakassa br±hmaºassa assama½ pavisitv± paññatte ±sane nis²di. Nisajja kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “k±yanuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±? K± ca pana vo antar±kath± vippakat±”ti “Bhagavantameva kho no, bhante, ±rabbha dhamm² kath± vippakat±, atha bhagav± anuppatto”ti. “S±dhu, bhikkhave! Eta½ kho, bhikkhave, tumh±ka½ patir³pa½ kulaputt±na½ saddh± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajit±na½ ya½ tumhe dhammiy± kath±ya sannis²deyy±tha. Sannipatit±na½ vo, bhikkhave, dvaya½ karaº²ya½– dhamm² v± kath±, ariyo v± tuºh²bh±vo”.

“Katam± ca, bhikkhave, anariy± pariyesan±? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco attan± j±tidhammo sam±no j±tidhamma½yeva pariyesati, attan± jar±dhammo sam±no jar±dhamma½yeva pariyesati, attan± by±dhidhammo sam±no by±dhidhamma½yeva pariyesati, attan± maraºadhammo sam±no maraºadhamma½yeva pariyesati, attan± sokadhammo sam±no sokadhamma½yeva pariyesati, attan± sa½kilesadhammo sam±no sa½kilesadhamma½yeva pariyesati.

Puttabhariya½, bhikkhave, j±tidhamma½, d±sid±sa½ j±tidhamma½, aje¼aka½ j±tidhamma½, kukkuµas³kara½ j±tidhamma½, hatthigav±ssava¼ava½ j±tidhamma½, j±tar³parajata½ j±tidhamma½. 277. “So kho aha½, bhikkhave, aparena samayena daharova sam±no susuk±¼akeso bhadrena yobbanena samann±gato paµhamena vayas± ak±mak±na½ m±t±pit³na½ assumukh±na½ rudant±na½ kesamassu½ oh±retv± k±s±y±ni vatth±ni acch±detv± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbaji½. So eva½ pabbajito sam±no ki½ kusalagaves² [ki½kusala½gaves² (ka.)] anuttara½ santivarapada½ pariyesam±no yena ±¼±ro k±l±mo tenupasaªkami½. Upasaªkamitv± ±¼±ra½ k±l±ma½ etadavoca½– ‘icch±maha½, ±vuso k±l±ma, imasmi½ dhammavinaye brahmacariya½ caritun’ti. Eva½ vutte, bhikkhave, ±¼±ro k±l±mo ma½ etadavoca– ‘viharat±yasm±; t±diso aya½ dhammo yattha viññ³ puriso nacirasseva saka½ ±cariyaka½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihareyy±’ti. So kho aha½, bhikkhave, nacirasseva khippameva ta½ dhamma½ pariy±puºi½. So kho aha½, bhikkhave, t±vatakeneva oµµhapahatamattena lapital±panamattena ñ±ºav±dañca vad±mi therav±dañca, ‘j±n±mi pass±m²’ti ca paµij±n±mi ahañceva aññe ca. Tassa mayha½, bhikkhave, etadahosi– ‘na kho ±¼±ro k±l±mo ima½ dhamma½ kevala½ saddh±mattakena saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihar±m²ti pavedeti; addh± ±¼±ro k±l±mo ima½ dhamma½ j±na½ passa½ viharat²’ti.
“Atha khv±ha½, bhikkhave, yena ±¼±ro k±l±mo tenupasaªkami½; upasaªkamitv± ±¼±ra½ k±l±ma½ etadavoca½– ‘kitt±vat± no, ±vuso k±l±ma, ima½ dhamma½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihar±m²ti pavedes²’ti [upasampajja pavedes²ti (s². sy±. p².)]? Eva½ vutte, bhikkhave, ±¼±ro k±l±mo ±kiñcaññ±yatana½ pavedesi. Tassa mayha½, bhikkhave, etadahosi– ‘na kho ±¼±rasseva k±l±massa atthi saddh±, mayha½patthi saddh±; na kho ±¼±rasseva k±l±massa atthi v²riya½, mayha½patthi v²riya½; na kho ±¼±rasseva k±l±massa atthi sati, mayha½patthi sati; na kho ±¼±rasseva k±l±massa atthi sam±dhi, mayha½patthi sam±dhi; na kho ±¼±rasseva k±l±massa atthi paññ±, mayha½patthi paññ±. Ya½n³n±ha½ ya½ dhamma½ ±¼±ro k±l±mo saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vihar±m²ti pavedeti, tassa dhammassa sacchikiriy±ya padaheyyan’ti. So kho aha½, bhikkhave, nacirasseva khippameva ta½ dhamma½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vih±si½.
