Eva½ sa½saµµho ±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ viharati– sace koci bhikkhu ±yasmato mo¼iyaphaggunassa sammukh± t±sa½ bhikkhun²na½ avaººa½ bh±sati, ten±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno kupito anattamano adhikaraºampi karoti. Sace pana koci bhikkhu t±sa½ bhikkhun²na½ sammukh± ±yasmato mo¼iyaphaggunassa avaººa½ bh±sati, tena t± bhikkhuniyo kupit± anattaman± adhikaraºampi karonti. Eva½ sa½saµµho ±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ viharati. Atha kho aññataro bhikkhu yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “±yasm±, bhante, mo¼iyaphagguno bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ ativela½ sa½saµµho viharati. Eva½ sa½saµµho, bhante, ±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ viharati– sace koci bhikkhu ±yasmato mo¼iyaphaggunassa sammukh± t±sa½ bhikkhun²na½ avaººa½ bh±sati, ten±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno kupito anattamano adhikaraºampi karoti. Sace pana koci bhikkhu t±sa½ bhikkhun²na½ sammukh± ±yasmato mo¼iyaphaggunassa avaººa½ bh±sati, tena t± bhikkhuniyo kupit± anattaman± adhikaraºampi karonti. Atha kho bhagav± aññatara½ bhikkhu½ ±mantesi– “ehi tva½ bhikkhu, mama vacanena mo¼iyaphagguna½ bhikkhu½ ±mantehi– ‘satth± ta½, ±vuso phagguna, ±mantet²”’ti. “Eva½ bhante”ti kho so bhikkhu bhagavato paµissutv± yen±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ mo¼iyaphagguna½ etadavoca– “satth± ta½, ±vuso phagguna, ±mantet²”ti. “Evam±vuso”ti kho ±yasm± mo¼iyaphagguno tassa bhikkhuno paµissutv± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. “Sacca½ kira tva½, phagguna, bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ ativela½ sa½saµµho viharasi? Eva½ sa½saµµho kira tva½, phagguna, bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ viharasi– sace koci bhikkhu tuyha½ sammukh± t±sa½ bhikkhun²na½ avaººa½ bh±sati, tena tva½ kupito anattamano adhikaraºampi karosi. Sace pana koci bhikkhu t±sa½ bhikkhun²na½ sammukh± tuyha½ avaººa½ bh±sati, tena t± bhikkhuniyo kupit± anattaman± adhikaraºampi karonti. Ek±sanabhojana½ kho aha½, bhikkhave, bhuñjam±no app±b±dhatañca sañj±n±mi app±taªkatañca lahuµµh±nañca balañca ph±suvih±rañca. Etha tumhepi, bhikkhave, ek±sanabhojana½ bhuñjatha. Ek±sanabhojana½ kho, bhikkhave, tumhepi bhuñjam±n± app±b±dhatañca sañj±nissatha app±taªkatañca lahuµµh±nañca balañca ph±suvih±rañc±ti. Na me, bhikkhave, tesu bhikkh³su anus±san² karaº²y± ahosi; satupp±dakaraº²yameva me, bhikkhave, tesu bhikkh³su ahosi.
“Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, subh³miya½ catumah±pathe ±jaññaratho yutto assa µhito odhastapatodo. Tamena½ dakkho yogg±cariyo assadammas±rathi abhiruhitv±, v±mena hatthena rasmiyo gahetv±, dakkhiºena hatthena patoda½ gahetv±, yenicchaka½ yadicchaka½ s±reyyapi pacc±s±reyyapi. Evameva kho, bhikkhave, na me tesu bhikkh³su anus±san² karaº²y± ahosi, satupp±dakaraº²yameva me, bhikkhave, tesu bhikkh³su ahosi. Tasm±tiha, bhikkhave, tumhepi akusala½ pajahatha, kusalesu dhammesu ±yoga½ karotha. Evañhi tumhepi imasmi½ dhammavinaye vuddhi½ vir³¼hi½ vepulla½ ±pajjissatha.
“Seyyath±pi bhikkhave, g±massa v± nigamassa v± avid³re mahanta½ s±lavana½. Tañcassa e¼aº¹ehi sañchanna½. Tassa kocideva puriso uppajjeyya atthak±mo hitak±mo yogakkhemak±mo. So y± t± s±lalaµµhiyo kuµil± oj±paharaºiyo [ojaharaºiyo (ka.)] t± chetv± [tacchetv± (s². sy±. p².)] bahiddh± n²hareyya, antovana½ suvisodhita½ visodheyya. Y± pana t± s±lalaµµhiyo ujuk± suj±t± t± samm± parihareyya. Evañheta½, bhikkhave, s±lavana½ aparena samayena vuddhi½ vir³¼hi½ vepulla½ ±pajjeyya. Evameva kho, bhikkhave, tumhepi akusala½ pajahatha, kusalesu dhammesu ±yoga½ karotha. Evañhi tumhepi imasmi½ dhammavinaye vuddhi½ vir³¼hi½ vepulla½ ±pajjissatha.
226. “Bh³tapubba½, bhikkhave, imiss±yeva s±vatthiy± vedehik± n±ma gahapat±n² ahosi. Vedehik±ya, bhikkhave, gahapat±niy± eva½ kaly±ºo kittisaddo abbhuggato– ‘sorat± vedehik± gahapat±n², niv±t± vedehik± gahapat±n², upasant± vedehik± gahapat±n²’ti. Vedehik±ya kho pana, bhikkhave, gahapat±niy± k±¼² n±ma d±s² ahosi dakkh± analas± susa½vihitakammant±.
“Atha kho, bhikkhave, k±¼iy± d±siy± etadahosi– ‘mayha½ kho ayy±ya eva½ kaly±ºo kittisaddo abbhuggato– “sorat± vedehik± gahapat±n², niv±t± vedehik± gahapat±n², upasant± vedehik± gahapat±n²”ti. Ki½ nu kho me ayy± santa½yeva nu kho ajjhatta½ kopa½ na p±tukaroti ud±hu asanta½ ud±hu mayhamevete [mayhevete (s². p².)] kammant± susa½vihit± yena me ayy± santa½yeva ajjhatta½ kopa½ na p±tukaroti, no asanta½? Ya½n³n±ha½ ayya½ v²ma½seyyan’ti. Atha kho, bhikkhave, k±¼² d±s² div± uµµh±si. Atha kho, bhikkhave, vedehik± gahapat±n² k±¼i½ d±si½ etadavoca– ‘he je k±¼²’ti. ‘Ki½, ayye’ti? ‘Ki½, je, div± uµµh±s²’ti? ‘Na khvayye [na kho ayye (s². p².)], kiñc²’ti. ‘No vata re kiñci, p±pi d±si [p±pad±si (sy±. ka.)], div± uµµh±s²’ti kupit± anattaman± bh±kuµi½ [bh³kuµi½ (s². p².), bhakuµ²½ (sy±.)] ak±si. Atha kho, bhikkhave, k±¼iy± d±siy± etadahosi– ‘santa½yeva kho me ayy± ajjhatta½ kopa½ na p±tukaroti, no asanta½; mayhamevete kammant± susa½vihit±, yena me ayy± santa½yeva ajjhatta½ kopa½ na p±tukaroti, no asanta½. Ya½n³n±ha½ bhiyyosomatt±ya ayya½ v²ma½seyya”n’ti.

Kathañhi n±ma ekad±sik±ya div± uµµh±s²ti kupit± anattaman± agga¼as³ci½ gahetv± s²se pah±ra½ dassati, s²sa½ vobhindissat²’ti.
“Atha kho, bhikkhave, vedehik±ya gahapat±niy± aparena samayena eva½ p±pako kittisaddo abbhuggacchi– ‘caº¹² vedehik± gahapat±n², aniv±t± vedehik± gahapat±n², anupasant± vedehik± gahapat±n²’ti.
“Evameva kho, bhikkhave, idhekacco bhikkhu t±vadeva soratasorato hoti niv±taniv±to hoti upasant³pasanto hoti y±va na aman±p± vacanapath± phusanti. Yato ca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu½ aman±p± vacanapath± phusanti, atha bhikkhu ‘sorato’ti veditabbo, ‘niv±to’ti veditabbo, ‘upasanto’ti veditabbo. N±ha½ ta½, bhikkhave, bhikkhu½ ‘suvaco’ti vad±mi yo c²varapiº¹ap±tasen±sanagil±nappaccayabhesajjaparikkh±rahetu suvaco hoti, sovacassata½ ±pajjati. Ta½ kissa hetu? Tañhi so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu c²varapiº¹ap±tasen±sanagil±nappaccayabhesajjaparikkh±ra½ alabham±no na suvaco hoti, na sovacassata½ ±pajjati. Yo ca kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu dhamma½yeva sakkaronto, dhamma½ garu½ karonto, dhamma½ m±nento, dhamma½ p³jento, dhamma½ apac±yam±no [dhamma½ yeva sakkaronto dhamma½ garukaronto dhamma½ apac±yam±no (s². sy±. p².)] suvaco hoti, sovacassata½ ±pajjati, tamaha½ ‘suvaco’ti vad±mi. Tasm±tiha, bhikkhave, ‘dhamma½yeva sakkaront±, dhamma½ garu½ karont±, dhamma½ m±nent±, dhamma½ p³jent±, dhamma½ apac±yam±n± suvac± bhaviss±ma, sovacassata½ ±pajjiss±m±’ti. So eva½ vadeyya– ‘aha½ ima½ mah±pathavi½ apathavi½ kariss±m²’ti So tatra tatra vikhaºeyya [khaºeyya (s². sy±. p².)], tatra tatra vikireyya, tatra tatra oµµhubheyya, tatra tatra omutteyya– ‘apathav² bhavasi, apathav² bhavas²’ti. Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu so puriso ima½ mah±pathavi½ apathavi½ kareyy±”ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “Ta½ kissa hetu”? “Ayañhi, bhante, mah±pathav² gambh²r± appameyy±. Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu so puriso imasmi½ ±k±se r³pa½ likheyya, r³pap±tubh±va½ kareyy±”ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “Ta½ kissa hetu”? “Ayañhi, bhante, ±k±so ar³p² anidassano. Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu so puriso ±ditt±ya tiºukk±ya gaªga½ nadi½ sant±peyya sa½parit±peyy±”ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “Ta½ kissa hetu”? “Gaªg± hi, bhante, nad² gambh²r± appameyy±.
