Paµisall±n± vuµµhitoti ettha paµisall±nanti tehi tehi sattasaŖkh±rehi paµinivattitv± sall±na½ nil²yana½, ek²bh±vo pavivekoti vutta½ hoti. Yo tato vuµµhito, so paµisall±n± vuµµhito n±ma hoti. Aya½ pana yasm± paµisall±n±na½ uttamato phalasam±pattito vuµµh±si, tasm± “paµisall±n± vuµµhito”ti vutto. Bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv±ti samadasanakhujjalavibh³sitena siras± bhagavanta½ sakkacca½ vanditv±, abhiv±d±petv± v± “sukh² bhava, cund±”ti eva½ vac²bheda½ k±r±petv±, bhagav± pana kira vandito sam±no suvaŗŗadundubhisadisa½ g²va½ paggayha kaŗŗasukha½ pemaniya½ amat±bhisekasadisa½ brahmaghosa½ nicch±rento “sukh² hoh²”ti tassa tassa n±ma½ gahetv± vadati, eta½ ±ciŗŗa½ tath±gat±na½. Tatrida½ s±dhakasutta½, “sakko, bhante, dev±namindo s±macco saparijano bhagavato p±de siras± vandat²ti, sukh² hotu pańcasikha sakko dev±namindo s±macco saparijano, sukhak±m± hi dev± manuss± asur± n±g± gandhabb±, ye cańńe santi puthuk±y±”ti. Evańca pana tath±gat± evar³pe mahesakkhe yakkhe abhivadant²ti.
Y± im±ti id±ni vattabb±bhimukha½ karonto viya ±ha. Anekavihit±ti n±nappak±r±. Diµµhiyoti micch±diµµhiyo Loke uppajjant²ti sattesu p±tubhavanti. Attav±dappaµisa½yutt±ti “r³pa½ attato samanupassat²”ti-±dinayappavattena attav±dena paµisa½yutt±, t± v²sati bhavanti. Lokav±dappaµisa½yutt±ti “sassato att± ca loko c±”ti-±dinayappavattena lokav±dena paµisa½yutt±, t± aµµha honti sassato, asassato, sassato ca asassato ca, neva sassato n±sassato, antav±, anantav±, antav± ca anantav± ca, nevantav± n±nantav± att± ca loko c±ti eva½ pavattatt±.
¾dimev±ti-±d²su ayamattho ki½ nu kho bhante ±dimeva manasikarontassa appatv±pi sot±pattimagga½ vipassan±missakapaµhamamanasik±rameva manasikarontassa bhikkhuno evamet±sa½ ettakeneva up±yena et±sa½ diµµh²na½ pah±nańca paµinissaggo ca hot²ti. Idańca thero attan± anadhim±nikopi sam±no adhim±nik±na½ adhim±nappah±nattha½ adhim±niko viya hutv± pucchat²ti veditabbo. Apare pan±hu “therassa antev±sik± ±dimanasik±reneva diµµh²na½ samucchedappah±na½ hot²ti eva½sańńinopi, sam±pattivih±r± sallekhavih±r±ti eva½sańńinopi atthi. So tesa½ atth±ya bhagavanta½ pucchat²”ti.
82. Athassa bhagav± t±sa½ diµµh²na½ pah±n³p±ya½ dassento y± im±ti-±dim±ha. Tattha yattha cet± diµµhiyo uppajjant²ti-±di pańcakkhandhe sandh±ya vutta½. Etesu hi et± diµµhiyo uppajjanti. Yath±ha “r³pe kho, bhikkhave, sati r³pa½ abhinivissa eva½ diµµhi uppajjati, so att± so loko so pecca bhaviss±mi nicco dhuvo sassato avipariŗ±madhammo”ti (sa½. ni. 3.152) vitth±ro. ¾rammaŗavasena pana ekavacana½ katv± yattha c±ti ±ha, yasmi½ ±rammaŗe uppajjant²ti vutta½ hoti. Ettha ca uppajjanti anusenti samud±carant²ti imesa½ eva½ n±n±karaŗa½ veditabba½. J±tivasena hi aj±t± j±yam±n± uppajjant²ti vuccanti. Punappuna½ ±sevit± th±magat± appaµivin²t± anusent²ti. K±yavac²dv±ra½ sampatt± samud±carant²ti, idametesa½ n±n±karaŗa½. Ta½ neta½ mam±ti-±d²su ta½ pańcakkhandhappabheda½ ±rammaŗameta½ mayha½ na hoti, ahampi eso na asmi, eso me att±pi na hot²ti evameta½ yath±bh³ta½ sammappańń±ya passatoti eva½ t±va padattho veditabbo.
Yasm± pana ettha eta½ mam±ti taŗh±g±ho, tańca gaŗhanto aµµhasatataŗh±vicaritappabheda½ taŗh±papańca½ gaŗh±ti. Esohamasm²ti m±nag±ho, tańca gaŗhanto navappabheda½ m±napapańca½ gaŗh±ti. Eso me att±ti diµµhig±ho, tańca gaŗhanto dv±saµµhidiµµhigatappabheda½ diµµhipapańca½ gaŗh±ti. Tasm± neta½ mam±ti vadanto bhagav± yath±vuttappabheda½ taŗh±papańca½ paµikkhipati. Nesohamasm²ti m±napapańca½. Na meso att±ti diµµhipapańca½. Diµµhekaµµh±yeva cettha taŗh±m±n± veditabb±. Evametanti eva½ “neta½ mam±”ti-±din± ±k±rena eta½ khandhapańcaka½. Yath±bh³tanti yath± sabh±va½, yath± atth²ti vutta½ hoti. Khandhapańcakańhi eteneva ±k±rena atthi. Mamanti-±din± pana gayham±nampi ten±k±rena nevatth²ti adhipp±yo. Sammappańń±ya passatoti sot±pattimaggapańń±pariyos±n±ya vipassan±pańń±ya suµµhu passantassa. Evamet±santi etena up±yena et±sa½. Pah±na½ paµinissaggoti ubhayampeta½ samucchedappah±nassev±dhivacana½.
Eva½ bhagav± ±dimanasik±reneva diµµh²na½ pah±na½ hoti nu kho noti ±yasmat± mah±cundena adhim±nik±na½ vasena pańha½ puµµho sot±pattimaggena diµµhippah±na½ dassetv± id±ni sayameva adhim±nik±na½ jh±na½ vibhajanto µh±na½ kho panetanti-±dim±ha. Tattha adhim±nik± n±ma yesa½ appatte pattasańń±ya adhim±no uppajjati, sv±ya½ uppajjam±no neva lokavaµµ±nus±r²na½ b±laputhujjan±na½ uppajjati, na ariyas±vak±na½. Na hi sot±pannassa “sakad±g±m² ahan”ti adhim±no uppajjati, na sakad±g±missa “an±g±m² ahan”ti, na an±g±mino “arah± ahan”ti, k±rakasseva pana samathavasena v± vipassan±vasena v± vikkhambhitakilesassa nicca½ yuttapayuttassa ±raddhavipassakassa uppajjati. Tassa hi samathavikkhambhit±na½ v± vipassan±vikkhambhit±na½ v± kiles±na½ samud±c±ra½ apassato “sot±panno ahanti v±, sakad±g±m², an±g±m² arah± ahan”ti v± adhim±no uppajjati, talaŖgaratissapabbatav±sidhammadinnattherena ov±diyam±natther±na½ viya.
Therassa kira acir³pasampannasseva ov±de µhatv± bah³ bhikkh³ visesa½ adhigacchi½su. Ta½ pavatti½ sutv± tissamah±vih±rav±s² bhikkhusaŖgho “na aµµh±naniyojako theroti thera½ ±neth±”ti sambahule bhikkh³ p±hesi. Te gantv±, “±vuso, dhammadinna bhikkhusaŖgho ta½ pakkos±pet²”ti ±ha½su. So ±ha “ki½ pana tumhe, bhante, att±na½ gavesatha paran”ti? Att±na½ sappuris±ti, so tesa½ kammaµµh±namad±si, sabbeva arahatta½ p±puŗi½su. BhikkhusaŖgho puna ańńe bhikkh³ p±hesi, eva½ y±vatatiya½ pahit± sabbepi tattheva arahatta½ patv± vihari½su.
Tato saŖgho gatagat± n±gacchant²ti ańńatara½ vu¹¹hapabbajita½ p±hesi. So gantv± ca, “bhante, dhammadinna tikkhattu½ tissamah±vih±rav±s² bhikkhusaŖgho tuyha½ santike pesesi, tva½ n±ma saŖghassa ±ŗa½ garu½ na karosi, n±gacchas²”ti ±ha. Thero kimetanti paŗŗas±la½ appavisitv±va pattac²vara½ g±h±petv± t±vadeva nikkhami, so antar±magge haŖkanavih±ra½ p±visi. Tattha ceko mah±thero saµµhivass±t²to adhim±nena arahatta½ paµij±n±ti. Thero ta½ upasaŖkamitv± vanditv± paµisanth±ra½ katv± adhigama½ pucchi. Thero ±ha “±ma dhammadinna, ya½ pabbajitena k±tabba½, cirakata½ ta½ may±, at²tasaµµhivassomhi etarah²”ti. Ki½, bhante, iddhimpi va¼ańjeth±ti. ¾ma dhammadinn±ti. S±dhu vata, bhante, hatthi½ tumh±ka½ paµimukha½ ±gacchanta½ m±peth±ti. S±dh±vusoti thero sabbaseta½ sattappatiµµha½ tidh±pabhinna½ naŖguµµha½ b²jayam±na½ soŗ¹a½ mukhe pakkhipitv± dv²hi dantehi vijjhituk±ma½ viya paµimukha½ ±gacchanta½ mah±hatthi½ m±pesi. So ta½ attan±yeva m±pita½ hatthi½ disv± bh²to pal±yitu½ ±rabhi. Tad±va att±na½ “n±ha½ arah±”ti ńatv± dhammadinnassa p±dam³le ukkuµika½ nis²ditv± “patiµµh± me hohi, ±vuso”ti ±ha. Dhammadinno “m±, bhante, soci, m± anattamano ahosi, k±rak±na½yeva adhim±no uppajjat²”ti thera½ samass±setv± kammaµµh±namad±si. Thero tassov±de µhatv± arahatta½ p±puŗi.
Cittalapabbatepi t±disova thero vasati. Dhammadinno tampi upasaŖkamitv± tatheva pucchi. Sopi tatheva by±k±si. Tato na½ dhammadinno ki½, bhante, iddhimpi va¼ańjeth±ti ±ha. ¾m±vusoti. S±dhu vata, bhante, eka½ pokkharaŗi½ m±peth±ti. Thero m±pesi. Ettha, bhante, padumagumba½ m±peth±ti. Tampi m±pesi. Padumagumbe mah±paduma½ m±peth±ti. Tampi m±pesi. Etasmi½ padumagumbe µhatv± madhurassarena g±yanta½ naccantańca eka½ itthiviggaha½ m±peth±ti. Tampi m±pesi. So eta½, bhante, punappuna½ upanijjh±yath±ti vatv± saya½ p±s±da½ p±visi. Therassa ta½ upanijjh±yato saµµhivass±ni vikkhambhitakiles± cali½su, so tad± att±na½ ńatv± purimatthero viya dhammadinnattherassa santike kammaµµh±na½ gahetv± arahatta½ p±puŗi.
Dhammadinnopi anupubbena tissamah±vih±ra½ agam±si. Tasmińca samaye ther± cetiyaŖgaŗa½ sammajjitv± buddh±rammaŗa½ p²ti½ upp±detv± nisinn± honti, eta½ kira tesa½ vatta½. Tena nesa½ ekopi “idha pattac²vara½ µhapeh²”ti dhammadinna½ vatt± pucchit±pi n±hosi. Dhammadinno eso bhaveyy±ti ńatv± pana pańha½ pucchi½su. So pucchitapańhe tiŗhena asin± kumudan±¼akal±pa½ viya chinditv± p±daŖguliy± mah±pathavi½ pahari. Bhante aya½ acetan± mah±pathav²pi dhammadinnassa guŗa½ j±n±ti. Tumhe pana na j±nitth±ti ca vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–
“Acetan±ya½ pathav², vij±n±ti guŗ±guŗa½;
sacetan±tha kho bhante, na j±n±tha guŗ±guŗan”ti.
T±vadeva ca ±k±se abbhuggantv± talaŖgaratissapabbatameva agam±si. Eva½ k±rakasseva adhim±no uppajjati. Tasm± bhagav± t±dis±na½ bhikkh³na½ vasena jh±na½ vibhajanto µh±na½ kho panetanti-±dim±ha.
Tassattho, attheta½ k±raŗa½, no natthi. Yena idhekacco bhikkhu b±hiraparibb±jakehi s±dh±raŗa½ vivicceva k±mehi…pe… paµhama½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihareyya, ya½ pana tassa evamassa sallekhena vihar±m²ti, ya½ paµipattividh±na½ kilese sa½likhati, ten±ha½ vihar±m²ti, ta½ na yujjati, na hi adhim±nikassa bhikkhuno jh±na½ sallekho v± sallekhapaµipad± v± hoti. Kasm±? Avipassan±p±dakatt±. Na hi so jh±na½ sam±pajjitv± tato vuµµh±ya saŖkh±re sammasati, jh±na½ panassa cittekaggamatta½ karoti, diµµhadhammasukhavih±ro hoti. Tasm± tamattha½ dassento bhagav± “na kho panete, cunda, ariyassa vinaye sallekh± vuccanti, diµµhadhammasukhavih±r± ete ariyassa vinaye vuccant²”ti ±ha.
Tattha eteti jh±nadhammavasena bahuvacana½ veditabba½, ete paµhamajjh±nadhamm±ti vutta½ hoti. Sam±pattivasena v±, ekampi hi paµhamajjh±na½ punappuna½ sam±pattivasena pavattatt± bahutta½ gacchati. ¾rammaŗavasena v±, ekampi hi paµhamajjh±na½ pathav²kasiŗ±d²su pavattivasena bahutta½ gacchat²ti. Esa nayo dutiyatatiyacatutthajjh±nesu. ¾ruppajh±nesu pana ±rammaŗabhed±bh±vato purimak±raŗadvayavaseneva bahuvacana½ veditabba½.
Yasm± cetesa½ aŖg±nipi sant±ni ±rammaŗ±nipi, nibbut±ni ceva sukhum±ni c±ti vutta½ hoti, tasm± t±ni sant± ete vih±r±ti eva½ vutt±n²ti veditabb±ni. Aya½ t±va tesa½ catunnampi s±dh±raŗ± vaŗŗan±. Visesavaŗŗan± pana “sabbaso r³pasańń±nan”ti-±dipad±nus±rato vattabb± siy±. S± visuddhimagge sabb±k±rena vutt±yeva.
