Patañjaliv±desu hi aºim± laghim±ti idameva dvaya½ dassesi [visuddhi. 1.144] tatuttari yogasutta½ aj±nanto, patañjaliv±dassa ca tuletv± d²pan± tassa ganthesu na dissati, patañjalin± katapakaraºañca patañjal²ti n±mamattampi ca tattha d²pita½ natthi. Visuddhimagge pana paññ±bh³miniddese ‘pakativ±d²na½ pakati viy±’ti [visuddhi. 2.584] pakativ±da (sa½khy±v±da) n±mamatta½ pak±sita½, tattheva ca ‘paµiññ± het³ti-±d²su hi loke vacan±vayavo het³ti vuccat²’ti [visuddhi. 2.595] ud±harita½, tena ñ±yati ‘buddhaghoso indiyatakkanayad²pake ñ±yaganthasmi½ kiñci m³labh±gamatta½ aparipuººa½ j±n±t²’ti”.
Ta½ pana sabbampi kevala½ ±cariyassa abbh±cikkhaºamattameva. Atigambh²rassa hi atigaruk±tabbassa suparisuddhassa piµakattayassa atthasa½vaººana½ karontena suparisuddhoyeva p±¼inayo ca aµµhakath±nayo ca por±ºatherav±d± c±ti ²dis±yeva atth± pak±setabb±, ya½ v± pana atthasa½vaººan±ya upak±raka½ saddavinicchayapaµisa½yutta½ lokiyaganthavacana½, tadeva ca yath±raha½ pak±setabba½, na pana anupak±r±nipi ta½ta½ganthatakkattun±m±ni ca, tehi vuttavacan±ni ca bah³ni, na ca tesa½ appak±sanena “na te aµµhakath±cariyo j±n±t²”ti vattabbo. Yadi hi ya½ ya½ lokiyagantha½ attan± j±n±ti, ta½ sabba½ anupak±rampi attano aµµhakath±yam±netv± pak±seyya, ativitth±r± ca s± bhaveyya aparisuddh± ca asamm±nit± ca s±sanikaviññ³h²ti ±cariyena patañjaliv±d±dayo na vitth±rena pak±sit±ti ñ±tabba½, aññadatthu yehi yehi lokiyaganthehi kiñci kiñci ±cariyena ±netv± pak±sita½, te te ca ganth±, aññepi ca t±dis± ±cariyena ñ±t±tveva j±nitabb± viññ³hi, yath± samuddassa ekadesa½ disv± sabbopi samuddo edisoti ñ±yati. ¾cariyo pana yattha yattha vedapaµisa½yuttavacan±ni ±gat±ni, tattha tattha vedaganthehipi kiñci kiñci ±netv± pak±sesiyeva. Tath± hi ±cariyena sumaªgalavil±siniya½ n±ma d²ghanik±yaµµhakath±ya½–

Eva½ vedaganthesu ca tadaññalokiyaganthesu ca sukovidasseva sam±nassa tesa½ vitth±rato appak±sana½ yath±vuttak±raºenev±ti veditabba½.
