(Ka) “buddhaghosena pak±sitesu ta½k±likavatth³su ekampi ta½ natthi, ya½ magadhesu uppannan”ti paµhama½ k±raŗa½ dassita½. Tadak±raŗameva. ¾cariyabuddhaghosatthero hi saŖgahaµµhakath±yo karonto por±ŗaµµhakath±yoyeva sa½khipitv±, bh±s±parivattanamattena ca visesetv± ak±si, na pana ya½ v± ta½ v± attano diµµhasuta½ dassetv±. Vuttańheta½ ±cariyena–
“Sa½vaŗŗana½ tańca sam±rabhanto,
tass± mah±-aµµhakatha½ sar²ra½;
katv± mah±paccariya½ tatheva,
kurundin±m±disu vissut±su.
Vinicchayo aµµhakath±su vutto,
yo yuttamattha½ apariccajanto;
athopi antogadhatherav±da½,

“Tato ca bh±santarameva hitv±,

Yatheva ca ±cariyabuddhaghosena attano aµµhakath±su ta½k±lik±ni m±gadhik±ni vatth³ni na pak±sit±ni, tatheva s²ha¼ik±nipi dakkhiŗa-indiyaraµµhik±nipi. Na hi tattha vasabhar±jak±lato (609-653 -buddhavassa) pacch± uppannavatth³ni diµµh±ni µhapetv± mah±senar±javatthu½ [p±r±. aµµha. 2.236-237], ±cariyo ca tato tisatamattavassehi pacch±tare mah±n±marańńo k±le (953-975-bu-va) s²ha¼ad²pamup±gato. Tasm± aµµhakath±su ta½k±likam±gadhikavatth³na½ appak±sanamattena na sakk± takkatt± na m±gadhikoti ń±tunti.
[Kha) punapi tena “sabbesupi buddhaghosaganthesu uttara-indiyades±yatta½ paccakkhato diµµhassa viya pak±sana½ natth²”ti dutiya½ k±raŗa½ dassita½. Tassapi ak±raŗabh±vo purimavacaneneva veditabbo. Apica s±ratthappak±siniy± n±ma sa½yuttaµµhakath±ya½, sumaŖgalavil±siniy± n±ma d²ghanik±yaµµhakath±yańca vuttasa½vaŗŗan±yapi veditabbo. Tattha hi–
“Yatheva hi kalambanad²t²rato r±jam±tuvih±radv±rena th³p±r±ma½ gantabba½ hoti, eva½ hirańńavatik±ya n±ma nadiy± p±rimat²rato s±lavana½ uyy±na½. Yath± anur±dhapurassa th³p±r±mo, eva½ ta½ kusin±r±ya hoti. Th³p±r±mato dakkhiŗadv±rena nagara½ pavisanamaggo p±c²namukho gantv± uttarena nivattati, eva½ uyy±nato s±lapanti p±c²namukh± gantv± uttarena nivatt±. Paccakkhato diµµhassa viya pak±sanampi dissateva. Tampi pana por±ŗaµµhakath±hi bh±s±parivattanamattamev±ti gahetabba½, t±dis±ya atthasa½vaŗŗan±ya mah±mahindattherak±latoyeva pabhuti vutt±ya eva bhavitabbatt±ti.
[Ga) punapi tena “uŗhass±ti aggisant±passa, tassa vanad±h±d²su sambhavo veditabbo”ti visuddhimagge (1, 30-piµµhe) vuttasa½vaŗŗana½ pak±setv± “tass± panassa avahasan²yabh±vo p±kaµoyev±”ti ca h²¼etv± “indiyaraµµhe pana uttaradesesu gimhak±le vatthacch±danarahit± m±nusak±yacchavi s³riyasant±pena eka½sato dayhati, ta½ na j±nanti dakkhiŗa-indiyadesik±”ti tatiya½ k±raŗa½ da¼hatarabh±vena dassita½. Tattha pana yadi “s³riyasant±pena eka½sato dayhat²”ti eta½ ujukato s³riyarasmisant±peneva da¹¹habh±va½ sandh±ya vucceyya, eva½ sati ¹a½samakasav±t±tapasar²sapasamphass±nanti pade ±tapasaddena sam±natthatt± na yuttameva. Yadi pana s³riyasant±pasańj±tena uŗha-utun± da¹¹habh±va½ sandh±ya vucceyya, eva½ sati uttara-indiyadesesu, ańńattha ca t±disesu ati-uŗhaµµh±nesu s³riyasant±pasańj±tassa uŗha-utuno paµigh±t±ya c²vara½ sen±sanańca paµisev²yat²ti ayamattho na na yutto. Tath± hi vutta½ vinayaµµhakath±ya½ (3, 58)
“S²ta½ uŗhanti utuvisabh±gavasena vuttan”ti.
S± pana visuddhimagge padatthasa½vaŗŗan± por±ŗasuttantaµµhakath±hi ±gat± bhaveyya. Tath± hi vutta½ papańcas³daniy± n±ma majjhimanik±yaµµhakath±ya sabb±savasuttavaŗŗan±ya½ (1, 58) “uŗhanti cettha aggisant±pova veditabbo, s³riyasant±pavasena paneta½ vatthu vuttan”ti. Ettha ca sac±yamattho ±cariyena attano mativasena vutto assa, tassa vatthussa por±ŗaµµhakath±ya½ vuttabh±vańca tass± atthasa½vaŗŗan±ya attano matibh±vańca yuttabh±vańca pak±seyya. ¾cariyo hi yattha yattha por±ŗaµµhakath±su avuttattha½ visesetv± dasseti, tattha tattha t±disa½ ń±pakavacanampi pak±setiyeva, yath± sumaŖgalavil±siniya½ (1, 72) “ettha ±ŗattiyanissaggiyath±var±pi payog± yujjanti, aµµhakath±su pana an±gatatt± v²ma½sitv± gahetabb±”ti vacana½, yath± ca papańcas³daniya½ (1, 30) “avic±ritameta½ por±ŗehi, aya½ pana attano mat²”ti vacana½. Na cettha kińcipi ń±pakavacana½ pak±sita½. Tasm± “yadeta½ ‘uŗhass±ti aggisant±pass±’ti ca, ‘uŗhanti cettha aggisant±pova veditabbo’ti ca vacana½, eta½ por±ŗasuttantaµµhakath±vacanan”ti veditabbanti.
(Gha) punapi tena “papańcas³daniy± n±ma majjhimanik±yaµµhakath±ya½ gop±lakasutta½ sa½vaŗŗento [ma. ni. aµµha. 1.350] buddhaghoso ‘magadhavideharaµµh±na½ antare gaŖg±ya nadiy± majjhe v±lukatthalad²pak± atth²’ti saddahati mańńe. Buddhaghosena pana diµµhagaŖg± s²ha¼ad²pe mah±veligaŖg±yeva, na pana indiyaraµµhik±na½ seµµhasammat± mah±gaŖg±ti p±kaµoyev±yamattho”ti catuttha½ k±raŗa½ dassita½. Ta½ pana id±ni mah±gaŖg±ya majjhe tasmi½ µh±ne t±disa½ d²paka½ adisv± “pubbepi evameva bhaveyy±”ti eka½sato gahetv± vuttavacanamattameva. Nadiyo pana sabbad±pi tenev±k±rena tiµµhant²ti na sakk± gahetunti p±kaµoyev±yamattho. Tasm± yath± pubbe tassa gop±lassa k±le tasmi½ µh±ne majjhe gaŖg±ya t±dis± d²pak± sa½vijjam±n± ahesu½, tatheva por±ŗaµµhakath±su esa attho sa½vaŗŗito, tadeva ca vacana½ ±cariyena bh±s±parivattana½ katv± pak±sitanti evameva gahetabba½. Tasm± tampi ak±raŗamev±ti.
