Tattha kimatthiyoti ki½ payojano niratthako, pageva nibbattitatt± pakkassa pacana½ viy±ti adhipp±yo. Atha v± lakkhaºasallakkhaº±dihetupaµip±µiggahaºavasena tamattha½ ñ±petuk±mo ±cariyova kathetukamyat±vasena “kimatthiyo”ti pucchati. Lakkhaºasallakkhaºatthoti anicc±dilakkhaº±na½ sammadeva upadh±raºattho. Tattha k±raºa½ dassento “udayabbayañ±ºa½ h²”ti-±dim±ha. Nanu ca udayabbayañ±ºa½ n±ma saªkh±r±na½ udayabbayameva passati, na anicc±dilakkhaºattaya½, tena katha½ aniccat±dilakkhaºattayasallakkhaºa½ hot²ti? Iriy±pathehi paµicchannatt± dukkhalakkhaºa½ na upaµµh±ti, te ca iriy±path± abhiºhasampaµip²¼an±manasik±rena paµicch±dak± j±t±. Ghanena paµicchannatt± anattalakkhaºa½ na upaµµh±ti, te ca ghan± n±n±dh±tuvinibbhog±manasik±rena paµicch±dak± j±t±ti. Udayabbaya½ passato na uday±vatth± vay±vattha½ p±puº±ti, vay±vatth± v± uday±vattha½. Aññova udayakkhaºo, aññova vayakkhaºoti ekopi dhammo khaºavasena bhedato upaµµh±ti, pageva at²t±dikoti ±ha “udayabbaya½ pana…pe… upaµµh±t²”ti. Tattha santatiy± vikopit±y±ti pubb±pariyena pavattam±n±na½ dhamm±na½ aññoññabh±vasallakkhaºena santatiy± uggh±µit±ya. Abhiºhasampaµip²¼ana½ manasi katv±ti yath±pariggahita-udayabbayavasena saªkh±r±na½ nirantara½ paµip²¼iyam±nata½ vib±dhiyam±nata½ manasi karitv±. Iriy±pathe uggh±µiteti iriy±pathe labbham±nadukkhapaµicch±dakabh±ve uggh±µite. Ekasmiñhi iriy±pathe uppannassa dukkhassa vinodaka½ iriy±pathantara½ tassa paµicch±daka½ viya hoti, eva½ ses±p²ti iriy±path±na½ ta½ta½dukkhapaµicch±dakabh±ve y±th±vato ñ±te tesa½ dukkhapaµicch±dakabh±vo uggh±µito n±ma hoti saªkh±r±na½ nirantara½ dukkh±bhitunnat±ya p±kaµabh±vato. Tattha k±raºa½ vadanto “upp±davayaññathattabh±v±”ti ±ha. Upp±do nibbattilakkhaºa½, vayo vipariº±malakkhaºa½, aññathatta½ jar±, tesa½ sabbh±vatoti attho. Hutv± abh±vatoti uppajjitv± vinassanato. Ettha ca purimena j±tijar±maraºasabbh±vato aniccanti dasseti, dutiyena p±kabh±vaviddha½s±bh±vato. Yassa bh±vena khandhapañcaka½ “aniccan”ti vuccati, ta½ aniccalakkhaºanti dassetu½ “upp±davayaññathattan”ti-±di vutta½. Tena hi ta½ “aniccan”ti lakkh²yati. ¾k±ravik±roti ±k±ravikati. Abh±v±k±ro hi vikatir³pena labbhati, vir³patt± na upp±d±k±ro. ¾k±ravik±roti v± ±k±raviseso. Hutv± abh±vo hi p±kabh±vato bhinno viddha½s±bh±vatt± tattha ca aniccalakkhaºa½ niru¼ha½. Anicc±k±ro hi dukkh±natt±k±rehi viya upp±d±k±rato ca visiµµho. Tath± hi saddassa viddha½s±bh±vo saªkhatabh±venapi s±dh²yati.
Saªkhatabh±vo ca atthato upp±davantat±. Upp±do ca p±kabh±vas±dhit± dharam±n±vatth±. Imin± nayena dukkh±natt±lakkhaº±ni veditabb±ni. Apica yath± niccapaµikkhepato aniccanti nicc±k±rapaµikkhepato yath±vutto abh±v±k±rasaªkh±to anicc±k±ro aniccalakkhaºa½, eva½ sukhapaµikkhepato dukkhanti sukh±k±rapaµikkhepato abhiºhapaµip²¼an±k±rasaªkh±to dukkh±k±ro dukkhalakkhaºa½, tath± attapaµikkhepato anatt±ti att±k±rapaµikkhepato avasavattan±k±rasaªkh±to anatt±k±ro anattalakkhaºanti daµµhabba½. Te yime tayopi ±k±r± asabh±vadhammatt± khandhapariy±pann± na honti. Khandhehi vin± anupalabbhan²yato khandhavinimutt±pi na honti. Khandhe pana up±d±ya voh±ravasena labbham±n± tad±d²navavibh±van±ya visesak±raºabh³t± tajj±paññattivises±ti veditabb±.
