Ajjhattikab±hire ca vatthumhi avisade uppannesu cittacetasikesu ñ±ºampi aparisuddha½ hoti, aparisuddh±ni d²pakapallikavaµµitel±ni niss±ya uppannad²pasikh±ya obh±so viya. Aparisuddhena ñ±ºena saªkh±re sammasato saªkh±r±pi avibh³t± honti, kammaµµh±namanuyuñjato kammaµµh±nampi vu¹¹hi½ viru¼hi½ vepulla½ na gacchati. Visade pana ajjhattikab±hire vatthumhi uppannesu cittacetasikesu ñ±ºampi visada½ hoti parisuddha½, parisuddh±ni d²pakapallikavaµµitel±ni niss±ya uppannad²pasikh±ya obh±so viya. Vakkalittheravatthu cettha nidassana½. Sace pana v²riyindriya½ balava½ hoti, atha neva saddhindriya½ adhimokkhakicca½ k±tu½ sakkoti, na itar±ni itarakiccabheda½, tasm± ta½ passaddh±dibh±van±ya h±petabba½. Tatr±pi soºattheravatthu dassetabba½. Eva½ sesesupi ekassa balavabh±ve sati itaresa½ attano kiccesu asamatthat± veditabb±. Visesato panettha saddh±paññ±na½ sam±dhiv²riy±nañca samata½ pasa½santi. Balavasaddho hi mandapañño muddhappasanno hoti, avatthusmi½ pas²dati. Balavapañño mandasaddho ker±µikapakkha½ bhajati, bhesajjasamuµµhito viya rogo atekiccho hoti. Ubhinna½ samat±ya vatthusmi½yeva pas²dati. Balavasam±dhi½ pana mandav²riya½ sam±dhissa kosajjapakkhatt± kosajja½ abhibhavati. V²riya½ sam±dhin± sa½yojita½ uddhacce patitu½ na labhati, tasm± tadubhaya½ sama½ k±tabba½. Ubhayasamat±ya hi appan± hoti. Apica sam±dhikammikassa balavat²pi saddh± vaµµati. Eva½ saddahanto okappento appana½ p±puºissati. Sam±dhipaññ±su pana sam±dhikammikassa ekaggat± balavat² vaµµati. Evañhi so appana½ p±puº±ti. Vipassan±kammikassa paññ± balavat² vaµµati. Evañhi so lakkhaºapaµivedha½ p±puº±ti. Ubhinna½ pana samat±yapi appan± hotiyeva. Sati pana sabbattha balavat² vaµµati. Sati hi citta½ uddhaccapakkhik±na½ saddh±v²riyapaññ±na½ vasena uddhaccap±tato kosajjapakkhena ca sam±dhin± kosajjap±tato rakkhati, tasm± s± loºadh³pana½ viya sabbabyañjanesu, sabbakammika-amacco viya ca sabbar±jakiccesu sabbattha icchitabb±. Ten±ha– “sati ca pana sabbatthik± vutt± bhagavat±. Ki½ k±raº±? Cittañhi satipaµisaraºa½, ±rakkhapaccupaµµh±n± ca sati, na vin± satiy± cittassa paggahaniggaho hot²”ti.
63. Nimittakosalla½ n±ma pathav²kasiº±dikassa cittekaggat±nimittassa akatassa karaºakosalla½, katassa ca bh±van±kosalla½, bh±van±ya laddhassa rakkhaºakosallañca, ta½ idha adhippeta½.
64. Kathañca yasmi½ samaye citta½ paggahetabba½, tasmi½ samaye citta½ paggaºh±ti? Yad±ssa atisithilav²riyat±d²hi l²na½ citta½ hoti, tad± passaddhisambojjhaªg±dayo tayo abh±vetv± dhammavicayasambojjhaªg±dayo bh±veti. Vuttañheta½ bhagavat±–
“Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, puriso paritta½ aggi½ ujj±letuk±mo assa, so tattha all±ni ceva tiº±ni pakkhipeyya, all±ni ca gomay±ni pakkhipeyya, all±ni ca kaµµh±ni pakkhipeyya, udakav±tañca dadeyya, pa½sukena ca okireyya, bhabbo nu kho so, bhikkhave, puriso paritta½ aggi½ ujj±letunti? No heta½, bhante. Evameva kho, bhikkhave, yasmi½ samaye l²na½ citta½ hoti, ak±lo tasmi½ samaye passaddhisambojjhaªgassa bh±van±ya, ak±lo sam±dhi…pe… ak±lo upekkh±sambojjhaªgassa bh±van±ya. Ta½ kissa hetu? L²na½, bhikkhave, citta½, ta½ etehi dhammehi dusamuµµh±paya½ hoti. Yasmi½ ca kho, bhikkhave, l²na½ citta½ hoti, k±lo tasmi½ samaye dhammavicayasambojjhaªgassa bh±van±ya, k±lo v²riyasambojjhaªgassa bh±van±ya, k±lo p²tisambojjhaªgassa bh±van±ya. Ta½ kissa hetu? L²na½, bhikkhave, citta½, ta½ etehi dhammehi susamuµµh±paya½ hoti. Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, puriso paritta½ aggi½ ujj±letuk±mo assa, so tattha sukkh±ni ceva tiº±ni pakkhipeyya, sukkh±ni ca gomay±ni pakkhipeyya, sukkh±ni ca kaµµh±ni pakkhipeyya, mukhav±tañca dadeyya, na ca pa½sukena okireyya, bhabbo nu kho so, bhikkhave, puriso paritta½ aggi½ ujj±letunti? Eva½ bhante”ti (sa½. ni. 5.234).

Tattha yoniso manasik±rabahul²k±ro, ayam±h±ro anuppannassa v± dhammavicayasambojjhaªgassa upp±d±ya uppannassa v± dhammavicayasambojjhaªgassa bhiyyobh±v±ya vepull±ya bh±van±ya p±rip³riy± sa½vattat²”ti (sa½. ni. 5.232).
Tath± “atthi, bhikkhave, ±rambhadh±tu nikkamadh±tu parakkamadh±tu. Tattha yoniso manasik±rabahul²k±ro, ayam±h±ro anuppannassa v± v²riyasambojjhaªgassa upp±d±ya uppannassa v± v²riyasambojjhaªgassa bhiyyobh±v±ya vepull±ya bh±van±ya p±rip³riy± sa½vattat²”ti (sa½. ni. 5.232).
Tath± “atthi, bhikkhave, p²tisambojjhaªgaµµh±niy± dhamm±. Tattha yoniso manasik±rabahul²k±ro, ayam±h±ro anuppannassa v± p²tisambojjhaªgassa upp±d±ya uppannassa v± p²tisambojjhaªgassa bhiyyobh±v±ya vepull±ya bh±van±ya p±rip³riy± sa½vattat²”ti (sa½. ni. 5.232).
Tattha sabh±vas±maññalakkhaºapaµivedhavasena pavattamanasik±ro kusal±d²su yoniso manasik±ro n±ma. ¾rambhadh±tu-±d²na½ upp±danavasena pavattamanasik±ro ±rambhadh±tu-±d²su yoniso manasik±ro n±ma. Tattha ±rambhadh±t³ti paµhamav²riya½ vuccati. Nikkamadh±t³ti kosajjato nikkhantatt± tato balavatara½. Parakkamadh±t³ti para½ para½ µh±na½ akkamanato tatopi balavatara½. P²tisambojjhaªgaµµh±niy± dhamm±ti pana p²tiy± eva eta½ n±ma½. Tass±pi upp±dakamanasik±rova yoniso manasik±ro n±ma.

Yad±ssa paññ±payogamandat±ya v± upasamasukh±nadhigamena v± nirass±da½ citta½ hoti, tad± na½ aµµhasa½vegavatthupaccavekkhaºena sa½vejeti. Aµµha sa½vegavatth³ni n±ma j±tijar±by±dhimaraº±ni catt±ri, ap±yadukkha½ pañcama½, at²te vaµµam³laka½ dukkha½, an±gate vaµµam³laka½ dukkha½, paccuppanne ±h±rapariyeµµhim³laka½ dukkhanti. Buddhadhammasaªghaguº±nussaraºena cassa pas±da½ janeti. Eva½ yasmi½ samaye citta½ sampaha½sitabba½, tasmi½ samaye citta½ sampaha½seti.
Katha½ yasmi½ samaye citta½ ajjhupekkhitabba½, tasmi½ samaye citta½ ajjhupekkhati? Yad±ssa eva½ paµipajjato al²na½ anuddhata½ anirass±da½ ±rammaºe samappavatta½ samathav²thipaµipanna½ citta½ hoti, tad±ssa paggahaniggahasampaha½sanesu na by±p±ra½ ±pajjati, s±rathi viya samappavattesu assesu. Eva½ yasmi½ samaye citta½ ajjhupekkhitabba½, tasmi½ samaye citta½ ajjhupekkhati.
Asam±hitapuggalaparivajjanat± n±ma nekkhammapaµipada½ an±ru¼hapubb±na½ anekakiccapasut±na½ vikkhittahaday±na½ puggal±na½ ±rak± paricc±go.
Sam±hitapuggalasevanat± n±ma nekkhammapaµipada½ paµipann±na½ sam±dhil±bh²na½ puggal±na½ k±lena k±la½ upasaªkamana½.
