J±nitv± hetupaccayeti hetupaccaye pariggaºhitv±, hetupaccaye pariggaºhanahet³ti vutta½ hoti. Paccayapariggahaºahetu hissa addhattaye kaªkh±vitaraºa½ hot²ti. Vitaritv±ti atikkamitv±, vikkhambhetv±ti attho. Ta½ pana ñ±ºa½ tath±vigata½ vasibh±vappatta½ jh±na½ viya yogino sant±ne pabandhavasena pavattat²ti katv± vutta½ “µhitan”ti.

Tattha yath± n±mar³passa paccayapariggaho ahetuvisamahetuv±danivattiy± hoti, eva½ nibbid±vir±g±vahabh±vena tattha tattha abhiratinivattiy±pi icchitabboti ta½ dvatti½s±k±ravasena dassetu½ “kes± lom±”ti-±di vutta½.
1232-3. Avijj±…pe… matoti avijj± taºh± up±d±na½ kammanti ida½ catubbidha½ dhammaj±ta½ etassa yath±vuttassa r³pak±yassa hetu, catubbidho ±h±ro paccayoti attho. Kasm± pana purima½ hetu, itaro paccayoti codana½ sandh±ya “janako”ti-±di½ vatv± ta½ lokavasena samatthetu½ “hetvaªkurass±”ti-±di vutta½. Tattha janakoti, anup±lakoti ca antogatahetvatthamida½ visesana½, janakatt±, anup±lakatt±ti vutta½ hoti. Tattha janakatt±ti nibbattakatt±. Imin± b²ja½ viya aªkurassa avijj±dayo r³pak±yassa as±dh±raºak±raºat±ya het³ti dassita½. Anup±lakatt±ti upatthambhakatt±. Imin± pana aªkurassa pathav²salil±dayo viya ±h±ro s±dh±raºak±raºat±ya paccayoti dassitanti veditabba½.
1234-7. Itime…pe… gat±ti evamete avijj±dayo pañca dhamm± yath±raha½ hetubh±va½, paccayabh±vañca gat±. M±t±va upanissay±ti avijj± bhavesu vijjam±nadosapaµicch±danabh±vena, taºh± patthan±bh±vena, up±d±na½ da¼hagg±habh±ven±ti eva½ saªkh±rabhav±na½ hetubh³t± janakasah±yat±ya bhavanikantita½sahaj±ta-±sannak±raºatt± abhisaªkh±rik±, apassayabh³t± v±ti m±t± viya upanissay± honti. Yath± pitujanitasukke puttassa uppatt²ti pit± janako, eva½ kamma½ sattassa upp±dakatt± janakanti ±ha. Tattha cakkhuñc±ti ca-saddo samuccayattho, tena cakkhuviññ±ºassa ±vajjan±di½ ajjhatta½ sabba½ paccayaj±ta½ saªgaºh±ti. R³pam±lokameva c±ti pana ca-saddena yath± b±hirar³pa½ cakkhuviññ±ºassa ±rammaºapaccayo, yath± ca ±loko upanissayapaccayo, eva½ aññampi b±hira½ paccayaj±ta½ saªgaºh±ti. Paµicc±ti paccayabh³ta½ laddh±ti attho. Tena cakkhussa nissayapurej±ta-indriyavippayutta-atthi-avigatavasena, r³p±lok±nañca yath±sambhava½ ±rammaºa-upanissayapurej±ta-atthi-avigatavasena, itaresañca saddasaªgahit±na½ anantar±disahaj±t±divasena paccayabh±va½ dasseti. ¾di-saddena phass±d²na½ viya saha paccayehi sotaviññ±º±d²na½ saªgaho veditabbo. Eva½ sammasan³paga½ sabba½ n±ma½ saha paccayena saªgahita½ hoti. Ten±ha “n±mak±yassa paccaya½ parigaºhat²”ti.
1238-40. Disv±n±ti etarahi pavatti½ disv±. Tathevidanti imin± na kevala½ sappaccayat±mattameva pacc±maµµha½, atha kho y±disehi etarahi pavattati, t±disehi avijj±dipaccayeheva at²tepi pavattitth±ti paccayasahitat±pi pacc±maµµh±ti daµµhabba½. Pubbanteti at²takhandhappabandhakoµµh±se. Pañcadh±gat±ti–
“Ahosi½ nu kho ahamat²tamaddh±na½, na nu kho ahosi½ ahamat²tamaddh±na½, ki½ nu kho ahosi½ ahamat²tamaddh±na½, katha½ nu kho ahosi½ ahamat²tamaddh±na½, ki½ hutv± ki½ ahosi½ nu kho ahamat²tamaddh±nan”ti (ma. ni. 1.18; sa½. ni. 2.20; mah±ni. 174)–

“Aha½ nu khosmi, no nu khosmi, ki½ nu khosmi, katha½ nu khosmi, aya½ nu kho satto kuto ±gato, so kuhi½ g±m² ca bhavissat²”ti (ma. ni. 1.18; sa½. ni. 2.20; mah±ni. 174)–

Atha v± paccuppanne nissattan±mar³passa paccayesu pavattakaªkh±ya idheva t²raºato s± idha vutt±. Vaººabhaºana½ v± eta½ idha paccuppannakaªkh±ya pah±navacana½ yath± ta½ sot±pattimagg±d²su pah²n±nampi ca pañcanna½ orambh±giy±na½ sa½yojan±na½ pah±n±ti-±din± an±g±mimagg±d²su vacananti.

Kammavip±k±na½ vasen±p²ti purimakammabhavasmi½ moho avijj±, ±y³hana½ saªkh±r±, nikanti taºh±, upagamana½ up±d±na½, cetan± bhavo iti ime pañca dhamm± purimakammabhavasmi½ idha paµisandhiy± paccay±, idha paµisandhi viññ±ºa½, okkanti n±mar³pa½, pas±do ±yatana½, phuµµho phasso, vedayita½ vedan± iti ime pañca dhamm± idh³papattibhavasmi½ pure katassa kammassa paccay±, idha paripakkatt± ±yatan±na½ moho avijj±…pe… cetan± bhavo iti ime pañca dhamm± kammabhavasmi½ ±yati½ paµisandhiy± paccay±ti eva½ vutt±na½ kammavaµµavip±kavaµµ±na½ vasena. Kilesavaµµopi cettha kammasah±yat±ya kammavaµµeneva saªgahitoti daµµhabba½.
1243. Diµµhadhammavedan²yanti ettha diµµhadhammo vuccati paccakkhabh³to paccuppanno attabh±vo, tattha veditabbaphala½ kamma½ diµµhadhammavedan²ya½. Upapajj±par±pariy±hosikammavas± pan±ti upapajjavedan²ya-apar±pariyavedan²ya-ahosikammavasena. Uttarapadalopavasena hi “upapajj±par±pariyan”ti vutta½. Tattha paccuppannabhavato anantara½ upapajjitv± veditabbaphala½ kamma½ upapajjavedan²ya½. Apare apare diµµhadhammato aññasmi½ aññasmi½ yatthakatthaci attabh±ve veditabbaphala½ kamma½ apar±pariyavedan²ya½. Ahosi eva kamma½, na tassa vip±ko ahosi, atthi, bhavissati c±ti eva½ vattabbakamma½ ahosikamma½.
Paµipakkhehi anabhibh³tat±ya, paccayavisesena paµiladdhavisesat±ya ca balavabh±vappatt± t±disassa pubb±bhisaªkh±rassa vasena s±tisay± hutv± pavatt± paµhamajavanacetan± tasmi½yeva attabh±ve phalad±yin² diµµhadhammavedan²y± n±ma. S± hi vutt±k±rena balavati javanasant±ne guºavisesayuttesu upak±r±nupak±ravasappavattiy±, ±sevan±l±bhena appavip±kat±ya ca itaradvaya½ viya pavattasant±nuparam±pekkha½, ok±sal±bh±pekkhañca kamma½ na hot²ti idheva pupphamatta½ viya pavattivip±kamatta½ ahetukaphala½ deti, sahetukaphalad±ne pana paµisandhi-±ka¹¹hanampi ±pajjeyya. Tath± asakkontanti kammassa vip±kad±na½ n±ma upadhippayog±dipaccayantarasamav±yeneva hot²ti tadabh±vato tasmi½yeva attabh±ve vip±ka½ d±tu½ asakkonta½. Ahosikamma½…pe… vip±koti ettha “ahosi kamman”ti pada½ visu½ visu½ yojetabba½ “ahosi kamma½ n±hosi kammavip±ko, ahosi kamma½ na bhavissati kammavip±ko, ahosi kamma½ natthi kammavip±ko”ti (paµi. ma. 1.234). Tattha sakasakak±l±tikkantassa upapajjavedan²yassa, diµµhadhammavedan²yassa ca vasena purima½ vutta½. Tañhi kammassa vip±kak±lassa ca at²tatt± tath± vattabbatta½ labhati, dutiya½ an±gate arahatta½ p±puºantassa purimabhavesu kata½ adinnavip±ka½ apar±pariyavedan²ya½ sandh±ya vutta½, tatiya½ pana anantarabhave kata½ upapajjavedan²ya½, arahato at²tabhavesu kata½ apar±pariyavedan²yañca sandh±ya vutta½. Apare pana “ekameva at²ta½ kamma½ addhattaye vip±k±bh±va½ sandh±ya tidh± vibhajitv± vuttan”ti vadanti.
Atthas±dhik±ti d±n±dip±º±tip±t±di-atthassa nipph±dik±. K± pana s±ti ±ha “sattamajavanacetan±”ti. S± hi sanniµµh±pakacetan± vuttanayena paµiladdhavises±, paµisandhiy± anantarapaccayabh±vino vip±kasant±nassa anantarapaccayabh±vena v± tath± abhisaªkhat± sam±n± anantarattabh±ve vip±kad±yin² upapajjavedan²ya½ n±ma. Yebhuyyavuttiy± cettha “sattamajavanacetan±”ti vutta½. Paccavekkhaºavasit±dipavattiya½ pana pañcam±dik±pi hoti. Vip±ka½ det²ti paµisandhi½ datv± pavattivip±ka½ deti, adinnapaµisandhika½ pana pavattivip±ka½ det²ti natthi. Cuti-anantarañhi upapajjavedan²yassa ok±soti ±cariy±. Paµisandhiy± pana dinn±ya j±tisatepi pavattivip±ka½ deti. Ten±ha bhagav± “tiracch±nagate d±na½ datv± sataguº± p±µikaªkhitabb±”ti (ma. ni. 3.379).
