Vitakko ca vic±ro ca p²ti ca sukhañca ekaggat± c±ti imehi sahita½ vitakkavic±rap²tisukhekaggat±sahita½. Tattha ±rammaºa½ vitakketi sampayuttadhamme abhiniropet²ti vitakko, so sahaj±t±na½ ±rammaº±bhiniropanalakkhaºo, yath± hi koci g±mav±s² puriso r±javallabha½ sambandhina½ mitta½ v± niss±ya r±jageha½ anupavisati, eva½ vitakka½ niss±ya citta½ ±rammaºa½ ±rohati. Yadi eva½ katha½ avitakka½ citta½ ±rammaºa½ ±rohat²ti? Tampi vitakkabaleneva abhinirohati. Yath± hi so puriso paricayena tena vin±pi nir±saªko r±jageha½ pavisati, eva½ paricayena vitakkena vin±pi avitakka½ citta½ ±rammaºa½ abhinirohati. Paricayoti cettha savitakkacittassa sant±ne abhiºhappavattivasena nibbatt± cittabh±van±. Api cettha pañcaviññ±ºa½ avitakkampi vatth±rammaºasaªghaµµanabalena, dutiyajjh±n±d²ni ca heµµhimabh±van±balena abhirohanti.
¾rammaºe tena citta½ vicarat²ti vic±ro. So ±raºanumajjanalakkhaºo. Tath± hesa “anusandh±nat±”ti (dha. sa. 8) niddiµµho. Ettha ca vic±rato o¼±rikaµµhena, tasseva pubbaªgamaµµhena ca paµhamaghaºµ±bhigh±to viya cetaso paµham±bhinip±to vitakko, anuravo viya anusañcaraºa½ vic±ro. Vipph±rav±cettha vitakko cittassa paripphandanabh³to, ±k±se uppatituk±massa sakuºassa pakkhavikkhepo viya, padum±bhimukhap±to viya ca gandh±nubandhacetas± bhamarassa, santavutti vic±ro cittassa n±tiparipphandanabh³to, ±k±se uppatitassa sakuºassa pakkhappas±raºa½ viya, padumassa uparibh±ge paribbhamana½ viya ca padum±bhimukhapatitassa bhamarassa.
Pinayati k±yacitta½ tappeti, va¹¹het²ti v± p²ti, s± sampiy±yanalakkhaº±, ±rammaºa½ kallato gahaºalakkhaº±ti vutta½ hoti, sampayuttadhamme sukhayat²ti sukha½, ta½ iµµh±nubhavanalakkhaºa½ subhojanarasass±dako r±j± viya. Tattha ±rammaºappaµil±bhe p²tiy± viseso p±kaµo kant±rakhinnassa vanantodakadassane viya, yath±laddhassa anubhavane sukhassa viseso p±kaµo yath±diµµha-udakassa p±n±d²su viy±ti. N±n±rammaºavikkhep±bh±vena eka½ ±rammaºa½ agga½ imass±ti ekagga½, citta½, tassa bh±vo ekaggat±, sam±dhi. So avikkhepalakkhaºo. Tassa hi vasena sasampayutta½ citta½ avikkhitta½ hoti.
Paµhamañca desan±kkamato ceva uppattikkamato ca ±dibh³tatt± ta½ jh±nañca ±rammaº³panijjh±nato, paccan²kajh±panato c±ti paµhamajjh±na½, vitakk±dipañcaka½. Jh±naªgasamud±ye yeva hi jh±navoh±ro nemi-±di-aªgasamud±ye rathavoh±ro viya, tath± hi vutta½ vibhaªge “jh±nanti vitakko vic±ro p²ti sukha½ cittassekaggat±”ti (vibha. 569). Paµhamajjh±nena sampayutta½ kusalacitta½ paµhamajjh±nakusalacitta½.
Kasm± pana aññesu phass±d²su sampayuttadhammesu vijjam±nesu imeyeva pañca jh±naªgavasena vutt±ti? Vuccate– upanijjh±nakiccavantat±ya, k±macchand±d²na½ ujupaµipakkhabh±vato ca. Vitakko hi ±rammaºe citta½ abhiniropeti. Vic±ro anuppabandheti, p²ti cassa p²nana½, sukhañca upabr³hana½ karoti, atha na½ sasampayuttadhamma½ etehi abhiniropan±nuppabandhanap²nana-upabr³hanehi anuggahit± ekaggat± sam±dh±nakiccena att±na½ anuvatt±pent² ekatt±rammaºe sama½, samm± ca ±dhiyati. Indriyasamat±vasena sama½ paµipakkhadhamm±na½ d³r²bh±vena l²nuddhacc±bh±vena samm± ca µhapet²ti evamete sameva upanijjh±nakicca½ ±veºika½. K±macchand±dipaµipakkhabh±ve pana sam±dhi k±macchandassa paµipakkho r±gappaºidhiy± ujupaccan²kabh±vato. K±macchandavasena hi n±n±rammaºehi palobhitassa paribbhamantassa cittassa sam±dh±na½ ekaggat±ya hoti. P²ti by±p±dassa p±mojjasabh±vatt±. Vitakko thinamiddhassa yoniso saªkappanavasena savipph±rappavattito sukha½ av³pasam±nut±pasabh±vassa uddhaccakukkuccassa v³pasantas²talasabh±vatt±. Vic±ro vicikicch±ya ±rammaºe anumajjanavasena paññ±patir³pasabh±vatt±. Eva½ upanijjh±nakiccavantat±ya, k±macchand±d²na½ ujupaµipakkhabh±vato ca imeyeva pañca jh±naªgabh±vena vavatthit±ti. Yath±hu–
“Upanijjh±nakiccatt±, k±m±dipaµipakkhato;
santesupi ca aññesu, pañceva jh±nasaññit±”ti.
Upekkh± panetta santavuttisabh±vatt± sukheva antogadh±ti daµµhabba½. Ten±hu–

Pah±naªg±divasena panassa viseso upari ±vi bhavissati, tath± ar³p±vacaralokuttaresupi labbham±nakaviseso. Athettha k±m±vacarakusalesu viya saªkh±rabhedo kasm± na gahito. Idampi hi kevala½ samath±nuyogavasena paµiladdha½ sasaªkh±rika½, magg±dhigamavasena paµiladdha½ asaªkh±rikanti sakk± vattunti? Nayidameva½ magg±dhigamavasenasattito paµiladdhass±pi aparabh±ge parikammavaseneva uppajjanato, tasm± sabbassapi jh±nassa parikammasaªkh±tapubb±bhisaªkh±rena vin± kevala½ adhik±ravasena anuppajjanato “asaªkh±rikan”tipi, adhik±rena ca vin± kevala½ parikamm±bhisaªkh±reneva anuppajjanato “sasaªkh±rikan”tipi na sakk± vattunti. Atha v± pubb±bhisaªkh±ravaseneva uppajjam±nassa na kad±ci asaªkh±rikabh±vo sambhavat²ti “asaªkh±rikan”ti ca byabhic±r±bh±vato “sasaªkh±rikan”ti ca na vuttanti.
Pi-saddena cettha catukkapañcakanayavasena suddhikanavako, tañca dukkhappaµipad±dandh±bhiññ±dukkhappaµipad±khipp±bhiññ±sukhappaµipad±dandh±bhiññ±sukhappaµipad±khipp±bhiññ±vasena paµipad±catukkena yojetv± desitatt± catt±ro navak±, paritta½ paritt±rammaºa½, paritta½ appam±º±rammaºa½, appam±ºa½ paritt±rammaºa½, appam±ºa½ appam±º±rammaºanti ±rammaºacatukkena yojitatt± catt±ro navak±, “dukkhappaµipada½ dandh±bhiñña½ paritta½ paritt±rammaºa½, dukkhappaµipada½ dandh±bhiñña½ paritta½ appam±º±rammaºan”ty±din± ±rammaºappaµipad±missakanayavasena so¼asa navak±ti pañcav²sati navak±ti evam±dibheda½ saªgaºh±ti.

25. R³p±vacaram±nasa½ jh±nabhedena pañcahi cat³hi t²hi dv²hi puna dv²hi jh±naªgehi sampayogabhedena pañcadh± pañcaªgika½ caturaªgika½ tivaªgika½ duvaªgika½ puna duvaªgikanti pañcavidha½ hoti avisesena, puna ta½ puññap±kakiriy±na½ pacceka½ pañcanna½ pañcanna½ bhed± pañcadasadh± bhavetyattho.
