Vijjam±nat±v±c² hoti-saddo, vijjam±nat± ca saªkhatadhamm±na½ uppajjanena vin± natth²ti “citta½ na tath± atthato nuppajjat²”ti vutta½. Tena yasm± citta½ na nuppajjati uppajjati eva, tasm± citta½ hot²ti vuttanti ayamettha aµµhakath±ya attho. Evamavaµµhite hoti-uppajjati-sadd±na½ sam±natthattena na kiñci payojana½ dissati. Atha v± bhavana½ n±ma satt±, satt± ca upp±d±din± samaªgit±ti phass±d²na½ khaºattayapariy±pannat± “phasso hot²”ti-±d²su hoti-saddena vutt±. Tattha yo bh±vo upp±dasamaªg², na so na hoti n±ma, tasm± uppajjati-saddena vuccam±nassa atthassa hoti-saddavacan²yat± na na sambhavati. Uppanna½ hot²ti ettha pana kiñc±pi uppanna-saddeneva upp±d±disamaªgit± vuccati, tabbh±v±nativatti pana hoti-saddena vutt± khaºattayav²tivattepi uppanna-saddassa vattanato, tasm± na ettha uppajjati-saddena sam±natthat±sabbh±vadassana½ viya uppajjatidassanampi virujjhati p±kaµakaraºabh±vato. Itarath± “citta½ uppanna½ hot²”ti imin±va cittassa vijjam±nabh±vo dassitoti ki½ puna vijjam±nabh±vadassanen±ti na na sakk± vattu½, samayavavatth±navasena savisesa½ vuttampi citta½ phass±d²hi sahuppattiy± suµµhutara½ nibbisesanti dassetu½ cittassa puna vacana½. Uddiµµhadhamm±na½yeva cettha niddesav±re vibhajana½, na vibhaªge viya p±¼iy± ±ru¼hasabbapad±nanti “uddesav±re saªgaºhanattha½ niddesav±re vibhajanatthan”ti ayampi attho niccalo. Tath± hi “yasmi½ samaye r³p³papattiy± magga½ bh±vet²”ti-±d²su magg±dayo na vibhatt±. Apica adhipatibh±vena indriyesu viya phassavedan±saññ±cetan±hi saha sabbacittupp±das±dh±raºar±siya½ gahetabbatt± samayavavatth±ne vuttampi citta½ phassapañcamake vuttanti daµµhabba½.
