Nanu vutta½ bhagavat±– “ya½ kiñci, bhikkhave, r³pa½ at²t±n±gatapaccuppanna½ ajjhatta½ v± bahiddh± v± o¼±rika½ v± sukhuma½ v± h²na½ v± paº²ta½ v± ya½ d³re santike v±– aya½ vuccati r³pakkhandho. “Yepi te, bhikkhave, ahesu½ ukkal± vassabhaññ± ahetukav±d± akiriyav±d± natthikav±d±, tepime tayo niruttipathe adhivacanapathe paññattipathe na garahitabba½ na paµikkositabba½ amaññi½su. Ta½ kissa hetu? Nind±by±rosa-up±rambhabhay±”ti [sa½yuttanik±ye]. Attheva suttantoti? ¾mant±. Tena hi na vattabba½– “at²ta½ atthi, an±gata½ atth²”ti.

Nanu ±yasm± phagguno bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “atthi nu kho ta½, bhante, cakkhu½ yena cakkhun± at²te buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaµume pariy±dinnavaµµe sabbadukkhav²tivatte paññ±payam±no paññ±peyy±ti. Atthi nu kho s±, bhante, jivh±…pe… atthi nu kho so, bhante, mano yena manena at²te buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaµume pariy±dinnavaµµe sabbadukkhav²tivatte paññ±payam±no paññ±peyy±”ti.
“Natthi kho ta½, phagguna, cakkhu½ yena cakkhun± at²te buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaµume pariy±dinnavaµµe sabbadukkhav²tivatte paññ±payam±no paññ±peyya. Natthi kho s±, phagguna, jivh±…pe… natthi nu kho so, phagguna, mano yena manena at²te buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaµume pariy±dinnavaµµe sabbadukkhav²tivatte paññ±payam±no paññ±peyy±”ti [sa½. ni. 4.83]. Na vattabba½– “an±gata½ atth²”ti? ¾mant±. Nanu vutta½ bhagavat±– “kaba¼²k±re ce, bhikkhave, ±h±re atthi r±go, atthi nand², atthi taºh±; patiµµhita½ tattha viññ±ºa½ vir³¼ha½. Yattha patiµµhita½ viññ±ºa½ vir³¼ha½, atthi tattha n±mar³passa avakkanti. Yattha atthi n±mar³passa avakkanti, atthi tattha saªkh±r±na½ vuddhi. Yattha atthi saªkh±r±na½ vuddhi, atthi tattha ±yati½ punabbhav±bhinibbatti. Yattha atthi ±yati½ punabbhav±bhinibbatti, atthi tattha ±yati½ j±tijar±maraºa½. Yattha atthi ±yati½ j±tijar±maraºa½, sasoka½ ta½, bhikkhave, saraja½ [sadara½ (sa½. ni. 2.64) tadeva yuttatara½] sa-up±y±santi vad±mi.
“Phasse ce, bhikkhave, ±h±re… manosañcetan±ya ce, bhikkhave, ±h±re… viññ±ºe ce, bhikkhave, ±h±re atthi r±go, atthi nand²…pe… saraja½ sa-up±y±santi vad±m²”ti [sa½. ni. 2.64]. Attheva suttantoti? ¾mant± Tena hi an±gata½ atth²ti.

Yattha viññ±ºa½ appatiµµhita½ avir³¼ha½, natthi tattha n±mar³passa avakkanti. Yattha natthi n±mar³passa avakkanti, natthi tattha saªkh±r±na½ vuddhi. Yattha natthi saªkh±r±na½ vuddhi, natthi tattha ±yati½ punabbhav±bhinibbatti. Yattha natthi ±yati½ punabbhav±bhinibbatti, natthi tattha ±yati½ j±tijar±maraºa½. Yattha natthi ±yati½ j±tijar±maraºa½, asoka½ ta½, bhikkhave, araja½ anup±y±santi vad±mi.
