Yath± pana y±va vatthu, t±va anupalabbham±nassa viññ±ºassa vatthu avigatapaccayo hoti viññ±ºato uddha½ pavattanakampi, eva½ up±d±na½ bhavasaªgahit±na½ j±ti-±d²na½, bhavo ca j±tiy± avigatapaccayo siy±. Atha na siy±, saªkh±rakkhandhe j±ti-±d²na½ saªgahitatt± viññ±ºa½ n±massa, n±mañca atakkhaºikasambhav± chaµµh±yatanassa avigatapaccayo na siy±ti idha viya tatth±pi hetukaggahaºa½ na kattabba½ siy±, tasm± y±va up±d±na½, t±va j±ti-±d²na½ anupalabbho, j±tikkhaºamatte eva bhavassa abh±vo ca k±raºanti na sakk± k±tu½. Saªkhatalakkhaº±na½ pana j±ti-±d²na½ asabh±vadhamm±na½ bhavena saªgahitatt± asabh±vadhammassa ca paramatthato bhavantarassa abh±vato hetu-±dipaccay± na sant²ti bhavassa up±d±na½ na niyamena avigatapaccayo, bhavo pana j±tiy±, j±ti jar±maraºassa neva avigatapaccayoti avigatapaccayaniyam±bh±vato abh±vato ca avigatapaccayassa bhav±d²su hetukaggahaºa½ na katanti yutta½.
Nanu eva½ “n±ma½ viññ±ºahetuka½ chaµµh±yatana½ n±mahetukan”ti vacana½ na vattabba½. Na hi n±masaªgahit±na½ j±ti-±d²na½ avigatapaccayo aññassa avigatapaccayabh±vo ca atthi asabh±vadhammatt±ti? Na, tesa½ n±mena asaªgahitatt±. Namanakiccaparicchinnañhi n±ma½, tañca kicca½ sabh±vadhamm±nameva hot²ti sabh±vadhammabh³t± eva tayo khandh± “n±man”ti vutt±, tasm± tattha hetukaggahaºa½ yutta½, idha pana bhavat²ti bhavo, na ca j±ti-±d²ni na bhavanti “bhavapaccay± j±ti sambhavati, j±tipaccay± jar±maraºa½ sambhavat²”ti yojanato tasm± saªkharaºato saªkh±re viya bhavanato bhave j±ti-±d²ni saªgahit±n²ti niyam±bh±v±bh±vehi yath±vuttehi hetukaggahaºa½ na katanti.
Keci pan±ti-±din± revatattheramata½ vadati. Ar³pakkhandh± hi idha bhavoti ±gat±. Vuttañhi “tattha katamo up±d±napaccay± bhavo, µhapetv± up±d±na½ vedan±kkhandho…pe… viññ±ºakkhandho”ti (vibha. 249).
“Vattabbapades±bh±vato”ti vutta½, satipi pana padese up±d±na½ viya sabh±v±ni j±ti-±d²ni na hont²ti µhapetabbassa bh±vantarassa abh±vato eva µhapana½ na k±tabbanti yutta½. J±yam±n±na½ pana j±ti, j±t±nañca jar±maraºanti “bhavapaccay± j±ti, j±tipaccay± jar±maraºan”ti (vibha. 225) vutta½. Yath± pana “n±mapaccay± phassoti tattha katama½ n±ma½? Ýhapetv± phassa½ vedan±kkhandho…pe… viññ±ºakkhandho. Ida½ vuccati n±man”ti (vibha. 259), “n±mar³papaccay± sa¼±yatananti atthi n±ma½ atthi r³pa½. Tattha katama½ n±ma½? Vedan±kkhandho saññ±kkhandho saªkh±rakkhandho. Ida½ vuccati n±ma½. Tattha katama½ r³pa½? Catt±ro mah±bh³t± yañca r³pa½ niss±ya manodh±tu manoviññ±ºadh±tu vattati, ida½ vuccati r³pan”ti (vibha. 261) ca ya½ n±mar³pañca phassassa sa¼±yatanassa paccayo, tassa vattabbapadeso niddiµµho, eva½ yo bhavo j±tiy± paccayo, tassapi µhapetabbagahetabbavisese sati na sakk± vattabbapadeso natth²ti vattunti.
