Parasamaya½ dos±ropanaby±p±ravirahena an±y³hantena. “Idampi yutta½ gahetabban”ti parasamaya½ asampiº¹enten±ti keci vadanti.
“Tath±ha½ bhagavat± dhamma½ desita½ ±j±n±mi, yath± tadevida½ viññ±ºa½ sandh±vati sa½sarati anaññan”ti-±di½ (ma. ni. 1.396) vadanto sutta½ paµib±hati n±ma, tath± appaµib±hantena. “Tath±ha½ bhagavat± dhamma½ desita½ ±j±n±mi, yath± yeme antar±yik± dhamm± vutt± bhagavat±, te paµisevato n±la½ antar±y±y±”ti (ma. ni. 1.234; p±ci. 418, 429), “supinante kato v²tikkamo ±pattikaro hot²”ti ca evam±di½ vadanto vinaya½ paµilometi n±ma, tabbipariy±yena ta½ anulomentena. Sattoti sattasuññat±ti vadanti, sattasuññesu v± saªkh±resu sattavoh±ro. Paccay±k±rameva c±ti paccay±k±ro eva ca, ma-k±ro padasandhikaro.

Patiµµha½ n±dhigacch±m²ti yattha µhitassa vaººan± sukar± hoti, ta½ naya½ attanoyeva ñ±ºabalena n±dhigacch±m²ti attho. Nissaya½ pana ±cikkhanto ±ha “s±sana½ panidan”ti-±di. Idha s±sananti p±¼idhammam±ha, paµiccasamupp±dameva v±. So hi anulomapaµilom±din±n±desan±nayamaº¹ito abbocchinno ajj±pi pavattat²ti nissayo hoti. Tadaµµhakath±saªkh±to ca pubb±cariyamaggoti.
“Ta½ suº±tha sam±hit±”ti ±darajanane ki½ payojananti ta½ dassento ±ha “vuttañhetan”ti-±di. Aµµhi½ katv±ti attha½ katv±, yath± v± na nassati, eva½ aµµhigata½ viya karonto aµµhi½ katv±. Pubbak±lato aparak±le bhava½ pubb±pariya½. Paµham±rambh±dito pabhuti khaºe khaºe ñ±ºavisesa½ kilesakkhayavisesañca labhat²ti attho.
Kammavip±kakilesavaµµ±na½ m³lak±raºatt± ±dito vuttatt± ca avijj± paµiccasamupp±dassa m³la½. Tattha valliy± m³le diµµhe tato pabhuti valliy± haraºa½ viya paµiccasamupp±dassa m³le diµµhe tato pabhuti paµiccasamupp±dadesan±ti upam±sa½sandan± na k±tabb±. Na hi bhagavato “idameva diµµha½, itara½ adiµµhan”ti vibhajan²ya½ atthi sabbassa diµµhatt±. M³lato pabhuti pana valliy± haraºa½ viya m³lato pabhuti paµiccasamupp±dadesan± kat±ti idamettha s±maññamadhippeta½, bodhaneyyajjh±sayavasena v± bodhetabbabh±vena m³l±didassanas±maññañca yojetabba½.

“Sa kho so, bhikkhave, kum±ro vuddhimanv±ya indriy±na½ parip±kamanv±ya pañcahi k±maguºehi samappito…pe… rajan²yehi, so cakkhun± r³pa½ disv± piyar³pe r³pe s±rajjati, apiyar³pe r³pe by±pajjati, anupaµµhitak±yasat² ca viharati parittacetaso. So tañca cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ yath±bh³ta½ nappaj±n±ti. Yatthassa te uppann± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± aparises± nirujjhanti, so eva½ anurodhavirodha½ sam±panno ya½ kiñci vedana½ vedeti sukha½ v± dukkha½ v± adukkhamasukha½ v±, so ta½ vedana½ abhinandati abhivadati ajjhos±ya tiµµhat²”ti (ma. ni. 1.408)–

Desentopi hi bhagav± kicch±panna½ loka½ anuviloketv± pubbabh±ga…pe… sandassanattha½ deset²ti. ¾h±rataºh±dayo paccuppannaddh±, saªkh±r±vijj± at²taddh±ti imin± adhipp±yen±ha “y±va at²ta½ addh±na½ atiharitv±”ti, ±h±r± v± taºh±ya pabh±vetabb± an±gato addh±, taºh±dayo paccuppanno, saªkh±r±vijj± at²toti. Paccakkha½ pana phala½ dassetv± ta½nid±nadassanavasena phalak±raºaparampar±ya dassana½ yujjat²ti ±h±r± purimataºh±ya upp±dit± paccuppanno addh±, taºh±dayo at²to, saªkh±r±vijj± tatopi at²tataro sa½s±rassa an±dibh±vadassanattha½ vuttoti y±va at²ta½ addh±nanti y±va at²tatara½ addh±nanti attho yutto.
¾yati½ punabbhav±bhinibbatti-±h±rak± v± catt±ro ±h±r±–
“¾h±ret²ti aha½ na vad±mi, ±h±ret²ti c±ha½ vadeyyu½, tatrassa kallo pañho ‘ko nu kho, bhante, ±h±ret²’ti. Eva½ c±ha½ na vad±mi, eva½ pana avadanta½ ma½ yo eva½ puccheyya ‘kissa nu kho, bhante, viññ±º±h±ro’ti. Esa kallo pañho, tatra kalla½ veyy±karaºa½, viññ±º±h±ro ±yati½ punabbhav±bhinibbattiy±”ti (sa½. ni. 2.12)–

At²taddhuto pabhuti “iti kho, bhikkhave, avijj±paccay± saªkh±r±”ti-±din± (sa½. ni. 2.3) at²te tato parañca hetuphalapaµip±µi½ paccakkh±na½ ±h±r±na½ nid±nadassanavasena ±rohitv± nivattanena vin± abujjhant±na½ ta½sandassanattha½ s± aya½ desan± pavatt±ti attho. An±gataddhuno sandassanatthanti an±gataddhuno duppaµivijjhant±na½ apassant±na½ paccakkha½ paccuppanna½ hetu½ dassetv± hetuphalaparampar±ya tassa sandassanatthanti attho.

M³lak±raºasadda½ apekkhitv± “na ak±raºan”ti napu½sakaniddeso kato. Ak±raºa½ yadi siy±, sutta½ paµib±hita½ siy±ti dassento sutta½ ±harati. Vaµµakath±ya s²sabh±vo vaµµahetuno kammassapi hetubh±vo. Tattha bhavataºh±yapi hetubh³t± avijj±, t±ya paµicch±dit±d²nave bhave taºhuppattitoti avijj± visesena s²sabh³t±ti “m³lak±raºan”ti vutt±. Purim±ya koµiy± apaññ±yam±n±ya upp±davirahato niccata½ gaºheyy±ti ±ha “evañceta½, bhikkhave, vuccat²”ti-±di. Tena ito pubbe uppannapubbat± natth²ti apaññ±yanato purimakoµi-apaññ±yana½ vuttanti imamattha½ dasseti.
Avijj±taºh±hetukkamena phalesu vattabbesu “sugatiduggatig±mino”ti vacana½ saddalakkhaº±virodhanattha½. Dvande hi p³jitassa pubbanip±toti. Savar± kira ma½sassa aµµhin± alagganattha½ punappuna½ t±petv± koµµetv± uºhodaka½ p±yetv± viritta½ s³na½ aµµhito muttama½sa½ g±vi½ m±renti. Ten±ha “aggisant±pi”cc±di. Tattha yath± vajjh± g±v² ca avijj±bhibh³tat±ya yath±vutta½ uºhodakap±na½ ±rabhati, eva½ puthujjano yath±vutta½ duggatig±mikamma½. Evanti avijj±ya nivutatt± taºh±ya sa½yuttatt± ca. Aya½ k±yoti saviññ±ºakak±yo khandhapañcaka½, “sa¼±yatanapaccay± phasso”ti vacanato phassak±raºañceta½ vuccat²ti ±yatanachakka½ v±. Samud±gatoti uppanno. Bahiddh± ca n±mar³panti bahiddh± saviññ±ºakak±yo khandhapañcaka½, sa¼±yatan±ni v±. Itthetanti ittha½ eta½. ¾di-saddena “etesa½ v± aññatarena avijj±n²varaºassa, bhikkhave, paº¹itassa taºh±ya sa½yuttass±”ti-±di yojetabba½. Tasmiñhi sutte saªkh±re avijj±taºh±nissite eva katv± k±yaggahaºena viññ±ºan±mar³pasa¼±yatan±ni gahetv± etasmiñca k±ye sa¼±yatan±na½ phassa½ ta½nissitameva katv± vedan±ya visesapaccayabh±va½ dassentena bhagavat± b±lapaº¹it±na½ at²taddh±vijj±taºh±m³lako vedan±nto paµiccasamupp±do dassito. Puna ca b±lapaº¹it±na½ visesa½ dassentena–
“Y±ya ca, bhikkhave, avijj±ya nivutassa b±lassa y±ya ca taºh±ya sa½yuttassa aya½ k±yo samud±gato, s± ceva avijj± b±lassa appah²n±, s± ca taºh± aparikkh²º±. Ta½ kissa hetu? Na, bhikkhave, b±lo acari brahmacariya½ samm± dukkhakkhay±ya, tasm± b±lo k±yassa bhed± k±y³pago hoti, so k±y³pago sam±no na parimuccati j±tiy±…pe… dukkhasm±ti vad±m²”ti (sa½. ni. 2.19)–

Duggatig±mikammassa visesapaccayatt± avijj± “avindiya½ vindat²”ti vutt±, tath± visesapaccayo vindiyassa na hot²ti “vindiya½ na vindat²’ti ca. Attani nissit±na½ cakkhuviññ±º±d²na½ pavattana½ upp±dana½ ±yatana½. Sammohabh±veneva anabhisamayabh³tatt± avidita½ aññ±ta½ karoti. Antavirahite jav±pet²ti ca vaºº±gamavipariy±yavik±ravin±sadh±tu-atthavisesayogehi pañcavidhassa niruttilakkhaºassa vasena t²supi padesu a-k±ra vi-k±ra ja-k±re gahetv± aññesa½ vaºº±na½ lopa½ katv± ja-k±rassa ca dutiyassa ±gama½ katv± “avijj±”ti vutt±. Byañjanattha½ dassetv± sabh±vattha½ dassetu½ “apic±”ti-±dim±ha. Cakkhuviññ±º±d²na½ vatth±rammaº±ni “ida½ vatthu, idam±rammaºan”ti avijj±ya ñ±tu½ na sakk±ti avijj± tappaµicch±dik± vutt±. Vatth±rammaºasabh±vacch±danato eva avijj±d²na½ paµiccasamupp±dabh±vassa, jar±maraº±d²na½ paµiccasamuppannabh±vassa ca ch±danato paµiccasamupp±dapaµiccasamuppannach±dana½ veditabba½.
Saªkh±ra-saddaggahaºena ±gat± saªkh±r± saªkh±ra-saddena ±gatasaªkh±r±. Yadipi avijj±paccay± saªkh±r±pi saªkh±ra-saddena ±gat±, te pana imiss± desan±ya padh±n±ti visu½ vutt±. Tasm± “duvidh±”ti ettha abhisaªkharaºakasaªkh±ra½ saªkh±ra-sadden±gata½ sandh±ya tattha vuttampi vajjetv± saªkh±rasaddena ±gatasaªkh±r± yojetabb±. “Saªkh±ra-sadden±gatasaªkh±r±”ti v± samud±yo vutto, tadekadeso ca idha vaººitabbabh±vena “avijj±paccay± saªkh±r±”ti, tasm± vaººitabbasabbasaªgahaºavasena duvidhat± vutt±ti veditabb±. Paµhama½ nirujjhati vac²saªkh±roti-±din± vitakkavic±ra-ass±sapass±sasaññ±vedan±vac²saªkh±r±dayo vutt±, na avijj±saªkh±resu vutt± k±yasañcetan±dayo.
Paritassat²ti pip±sati. Bhavat²ti upapattibhava½ sandh±ya vutta½, bh±vayat²ti kammabhava½. Cuti khandh±na½ maraºanti “maranti eten±”ti vutta½. “Dukkh± vedan± upp±dadukkh± µhitidukkh±”ti (ma. ni. 1.465) vacanato dvedh± khaºati. ¾y±soti parissamo vis±do. Kevala-saddo asammissav±cako hoti “keval± s±layo”ti, niravasesav±cako ca “keval± aªgamagadh±”ti, tasm± dvedh±pi attha½ vadati. Tattha asammissass±ti sukharahitassa. Na hi ettha kiñci upp±davayarahita½ atth²ti.
Ta½sampayutte, puggala½ v± sammohayat²ti sammohanaras±. ¾rammaºasabh±vassa ch±dana½ hutv± gayhat²ti ch±danapaccupaµµh±n±. “¾savasamuday± avijj±samudayo”ti (ma. ni. 1.103) vacanato ±savapadaµµh±n±. Paµisandhijananattha½ ±y³hanti by±p±ra½ karont²ti ±y³hanaras±, r±sikaraºa½ v± ±y³hana½. N±mar³passa purec±rikabh±vena pavattat²ti pubbaªgamarasa½. Purimabhavena saddhi½ ghaµana½ hutv± gayhat²ti paµisandhipaccupaµµh±na½. Viññ±ºena saha sampayujjat²ti sampayogarasa½. Aññamañña½ sampayog±bh±vato r³pa½ vikirat²ti vikiraºarasa½. Evañca katv± pisiyam±n± taº¹ul±dayo vikiranti cuºº² bhavant²ti. N±massa kad±ci kusal±dibh±vo ca atth²ti tato visesanattha½ “aby±katapaccupaµµh±nan”ti ±ha. “Acetan± aby±kat±”ti ettha viya an±rammaºat± v± aby±katat± daµµhabb±. ¾yatanalakkhaºanti ghaµanalakkhaºa½, ±y±na½ tananalakkhaºa½ v±. Dassan±d²na½ k±raºabh±vo dassan±dirasat±. Akusalavip±kupekkh±ya aniµµhabh±vato dukkhena itar±ya ca iµµhabh±vato sukhena saªgahitatt± “sukhadukkhapaccupaµµh±n±”ti ±ha. Dukkhasamudayatt± hetulakkhaº± taºh±. “Tatratatr±bhinandin²”ti (d². ni. 2.400; ma. ni. 1.133, 460; vibha. 203) vacanato abhinandanaras±. Cittassa, puggalassa v± r³p±d²su atittabh±vo hutv± gayhat²ti atittabh±vapaccupaµµh±n±. Taºh±da¼hatta½ hutv± k±mup±d±na½, ses±ni diµµhi hutv± upaµµhahant²ti taºh±da¼hattadiµµhipaccupaµµh±n±. Kammupapattibhavavasena bhavassa lakkhaº±dayo yojetabb±.

Na avijj±ya eva chadv±rikat± cha¼±rammaºat± ca, atha kho aññesupi paµiccasamupp±daªgesu ar³padhamm±nanti ±ha “sabbesup²”ti. Nobhayagocaranti man±yatanam±ha. Na hi ar³padhamm±na½ desavasena ±sannat± d³rat± ca atthi asaºµh±natt±, tasm± man±yatanassa gocaro na man±yatana½ sampatto asampatto v±ti vuccat²ti.

Yasm± pana jar±maraºeneva sok±d²na½ ekasaªkhepo kato, tasm± tesa½ j±tipaccayat± yujjati. Jar±maraºapaccayabh±ve hi avijj±ya ekasaªkhepo k±tabbo siy±, j±tipaccay± pana jar±maraºa½ sok±dayo ca sambhavant²ti. Tattha jar±maraºa½ ekantika½ aªgabh±veneva gahita½, sok±dayo pana r³pabhav±d²su abh±vato anekantik± kevala½ p±kaµena phalena avijj±nidassanattha½ gahit±. Tena an±gate j±tiy± sati tato par±ya paµisandhiy± hetuhetubh³t± avijj± dassit±ti bhavacakkassa avicchedo dassito hot²ti. Suttañca sok±d²na½ avijj± k±raºanti etassevatthassa s±dhaka½ daµµhabba½, na sok±d²na½ b±lassa jar±maraºanimittat±mattassa. “Assutav± puthujjano”ti (sa½. ni. 4.252) hi vacanena avijj± sok±d²na½ k±raºanti dassit±, na ca jar±maraºanimittameva dukkha½ dukkhanti.
