Tasseva khamanavasena khanti, ruccanavasena ruci, gahaŗavasena ±d±yo, sabh±vaµµhena dhammo, sikkhitabbaµµhena vinayo, tadubhayen±pi dhammavinayo, pavuttavasena p±vacana½, seµµhacariyaµµhena brahmacariya½, anusiµµhid±navasena satthus±sananti vuccati. Tasm± imiss± diµµhiy±ti-±d²su imiss± buddhadiµµhiy±, imiss± buddhakhantiy±, imiss± buddharuciy±, imasmi½ buddha-±d±ye, imasmi½ buddhadhamme, imasmi½ buddhavinaye.
“Ye ca kho tva½, gotami, dhamme j±neyy±si– ‘ime dhamm± sar±g±ya sa½vattanti no vir±g±ya, sa½yog±ya sa½vattanti no visa½yog±ya, ±cay±ya sa½vattanti no apacay±ya, up±d±ya sa½vattanti no paµinissaggiy±, mahicchat±ya sa½vattanti no appicchat±ya, asantuµµhiy± sa½vattanti no santuµµhiy±, saŖgaŗik±ya sa½vattanti no pavivek±ya, kosajj±ya sa½vattanti no v²riy±rambh±ya, dubbharat±ya sa½vattanti no subharat±y±’ti eka½sena hi, gotami, dh±reyy±si– ‘neso dhammo, neso vinayo, neta½ satthus±sanan’ti. Yasm± pana imasmi½yeva s±sane sabbapak±rajjh±nanibbattako bhikkhu dissati, na ańńatra, tasm± tattha tattha ‘imiss±’ti ca ‘imasmin’ti ca aya½ niyamo katoti veditabboti. Aya½ ‘idh±’ti m±tik±padaniddesassa attho.
510. Bhikkhuniddese samańń±y±ti pańńattiy±, voh±ren±ti attho. Samańń±ya eva hi ekacco bhikkh³ti pańń±yati. Tath± hi nimantan±dimhi bhikkh³su gaŗ²yam±nesu s±maŗerepi gahetv± ‘sata½ bhikkh³, sahassa½ bhikkh³’ti vadanti. Paµińń±y±ti attano paµij±nanena. Paµińń±yapi hi ekacco bhikkh³ti pańń±yati. Tassa “ko ettha ±vuso”ti? “Aha½, ±vuso, bhikkh³”ti evam±d²su (a. ni. 10.96) sambhavo daµµhabbo. Aya½ pana ±nandattherena vuttatt± dhammik± paµińń±. Rattibh±ge pana duss²l±pi paµipatha½ ±gacchant± “ko etth±”ti vutte adhammik±ya paµińń±ya abh³tatth±ya “maya½ bhikkh³”ti vadanti.
Bhikkhat²ti y±cati. Yo hi koci bhikkhati, bhikkha½ esati gavesati, so ta½ labhatu v± m± v±, atha kho bhikkhat²ti bhikkhu. Bhikkhakoti byańjanena pada½ va¹¹hita½; bhikkhanadhammat±ya bhikkh³ti attho. Bhikkh±cariya½ ajjhupagatoti buddh±d²hi ajjhupagata½ bhikkh±cariya½ ajjhupagatatt± bhikkh±cariya½ ajjhupagato n±ma. Yo hi koci appa½ v± mahanta½ v± bhogakkhandha½ pah±ya ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito, kasigorakkh±d²hi j²vitakappana½ hitv± liŖgasampaµicchaneneva bhikkh±cariya½ ajjhupagatoti bhikkhu. Parappaµibaddhaj²vikatt± v± vih±ramajjhe k±jabhatta½ bhuńjam±nopi bhikkh±cariya½ ajjhupagatoti bhikkhu. Piŗ¹iy±lopabhojana½ niss±ya pabbajj±ya uss±haj±tatt± v± bhikkh±cariya½ ajjhupagatoti bhikkhu.
Agghaphassavaŗŗabhedena bhinna½ paµa½ dh±ret²ti bhinnapaµadharo. Tattha satthakacchedanena agghabhedo veditabbo. Sahassagghanakopi hi paµo satthakena khaŗ¹±khaŗ¹ika½ chinno bhinnaggho hoti, purimagghato upa¹¹hampi na agghati. Suttasa½sibbanena phassabhedo veditabbo. Sukhasamphassopi hi paµo suttehi sa½sibbito bhinnaphasso hoti, kharasamphassata½ p±puŗ±ti. S³cimal±d²hi vaŗŗabhedo veditabbo. Suparisuddhopi hi paµo s³cikammato paµµh±ya s³cimalena, hatthasedamalajallik±d²hi avas±ne rajanakappakaraŗehi ca bhinnavaŗŗo hoti, pakativaŗŗa½ vijahati. Eva½ t²h±k±rehi bhinnapaµadh±raŗato bhinnapaµadharoti bhikkhu. Gih²vatthavisabh±g±na½ v± k±s±v±na½ dh±raŗamatteneva bhinnapaµadharoti bhikkhu.
Bhindati p±pake akusale dhammeti bhikkhu. Sot±pattimaggena pańca kilese bhindat²ti bhikkhu. Sakad±g±mimaggena catt±ro, an±g±mimaggena catt±ro, arahattamaggena aµµha kilese bhindat²ti bhikkhu. Ett±vat± catt±ro maggaµµh± dassit±. Bhinnatt±ti imin± pana catt±ro phalaµµh±. Sot±panno hi sot±pattimaggena pańca kilese bhinditv± µhito. Sakad±g±m² sakad±g±mimaggena catt±ro, an±g±m² an±g±mimaggena catt±ro, arah± arahattamaggena aµµha kilese bhinditv± µhito. Evamaya½ catubbidho phalaµµho bhinnatt± p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ bhikkhu n±ma.
Odhiso kiles±na½ pah±n±ti ettha dve odh²– maggodhi ca kilesodhi ca. Odhi n±ma s²m±, mariy±d±. Tattha sot±panno maggodhin± odhiso kiles±na½ pah±n± bhikkhu. Tassa hi cat³su maggesu ekeneva odhin± kiles± pah²n±, na sakalena maggacatukkena. Sakad±g±m²-an±g±m²supi eseva nayo. Sot±panno ca kilesodhin±pi odhiso kiles±na½ pah±n± bhikkhu. Tassa hi pah±tabbakilesesu odhin±va kiles± pah²n±, na sabbena sabba½. Arah± pana anodhisova kiles±na½ pah±n± bhikkhu. Tassa hi maggacatukkena anodhin±va kiles± pah²n±, na ek±ya maggas²m±ya. Pah±tabbakilesesu ca anodhisova kiles± pah²n±. Ek±pi hi kilesas²m± µhit± n±ma natthi. Eva½ so ubhayath±pi anodhiso kiles±na½ pah±n± bhikkhu.
Sekkhoti puthujjanakaly±ŗakena saddhi½ satta ariy±. Tisso sikkh± sikkhant²ti sekkh±. Tesu yo koci sekkho bhikkhuti veditabbo. Na sikkhat²ti asekkho. Sekkhadhamme atikkamma aggaphale µhito tato uttari sikkhitabb±bh±vato kh²ŗ±savo asekkhoti vuccati. Avaseso puthujjanabhikkhu tisso sikkh± neva sikkhati, na sikkhitv± µhitoti nevasekkhan±sekkhoti veditabbo.
S²lagga½ sam±dhigga½ pańńagga½ vimuttagganti ida½ agga½ patv± µhitatt± aggo bhikkhu n±ma. Bhadroti ap±pako. Kaly±ŗaputhujjan±dayo hi y±va arah± t±va bhadrena s²lena sam±dhin± pańń±ya vimuttiy± vimuttiń±ŗadassanena ca samann±gatatt± bhadro bhikkh³ti saŖkhya½ gacchanti. Maŗ¹o bhikkh³ti pasanno bhikkhu; sappimaŗ¹o viya an±vilo vippasannoti attho. S±roti tehiyeva s²las±r±d²hi samann±gatatt±, n²lasamann±gamena n²lo paµo viya, s±ro bhikkh³ti veditabbo. Vigatakilesapheggubh±vato v± kh²ŗ±savova s±roti veditabbo.
Tattha ca “bhindati p±pake akusale dhammeti bhikkhu, odhiso kiles±na½ pah±n± bhikkhu, sekkho bhikkh³”ti imesu t²su µh±nesu satta sekkh± kathit±. “Bhinnatt± p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±nanti bhikkhu, anodhiso kiles±na½ pah±n± bhikkhu, asekkho bhikkhu, aggo bhikkhu, maŗ¹o bhikkh³”ti imesu pańcasu µh±nesu kh²ŗ±savova kathito. “Nevasekkhan±sekkho”ti ettha puthujjanova kathito. Sesaµµh±nesu puthujjanakaly±ŗako, satta sekkh±, kh²ŗ±savoti ime sabbepi kathit±.
Eva½ samańń±d²hi bhikkhu½ dassetv± id±ni upasampad±vasena dassetu½ samaggena saŖghen±ti-±dim±ha. Tattha samaggena saŖghen±ti sabbantimena paricchedena pańcavaggakaraŗ²ye kamme y±vatik± bhikkh³ kammappatt±, tesa½ ±gatatt± chand±rah±na½ chandassa ±haµatt± sammukh²bh³t±nańca appaµikkosanato ekasmi½ kamme samaggabh±va½ upagatena. Ńatticatutthen±ti t²hi anuss±van±hi ek±ya ca ńattiy± k±tabbena. Kammen±ti dhammikena vinayakammena. Akuppen±ti vatthuńatti-anuss±vanas²m±parisasampattisampannatt± akopetabbata½ appaµikkositabbata½ upagatena. Żh±n±rahen±ti k±raŗ±rahena satthus±san±rahena.

511. P±timokkhasa½varaniddese p±timokkhanti sikkh±padas²la½. Tańhi, yo na½ p±ti rakkhati, ta½ mokkheti mocayati ±p±yik±d²hi dukkhehi, tasm± p±timokkhanti vutta½. S²la½ patiµµh±ti-±d²ni tasseva vevacan±ni. Tattha s²lanti k±mańceta½ saha kammav±c±pariyos±nena ijjhanakassa p±timokkhassa vevacana½, eva½ santepi dhammato eta½ s²la½ n±ma p±ŗ±tip±t±d²hi v± viramantassa vattappaµipatti½ v± p³rentassa cetan±dayo dhamm± veditabb±. Vuttańheta½ paµisambhid±ya½ “ki½ s²lan”ti? Cetan± s²la½, cetasika½ s²la½, sa½varo s²la½, av²tikkamo s²lan”ti (paµi. ma. 1.39).
