Siyu½ nidassan±nettha, paµighos±dik± atha;
sant±nabandhato natthi, ekat± n±pi n±nat±.
Ettha cetassa viññ±ºassa purimabhavato idha an±gamane at²tabhavapariy±pannahet³hi ca upp±de paµighosapad²pamudd±paµibimbappak±r± dhamm± nidassan±ni siyu½. Yath± hi paµighosapad²pamuddacch±y± sadd±dihetuk± aññatra agantv± honti, evameva ida½ citta½. Ettha ca ‘sant±nabandhato natthi ekat± n±pi n±nat±’. Yadi hi sant±nabandhe sati ekantamekat± bhaveyya, na kh²rato dadhi sambh³ta½ siy±. Ath±pi ekantan±nat± bhaveyya, na kh²rass±dh²no dadhi siy±. Esa nayo sabbahetuhetusamuppannesu. Evañca sati sabbalokavoh±ralopo siy±. So ca aniµµho. Tasm± ettha na ekantamekat± v± n±nat± v± upagantabb±ti.
Etth±ha– nanu eva½ asaªkantip±tubh±ve sati ye imasmi½ manussattabh±ve khandh±, tesa½ niruddhatt± phalapaccayassa ca kammassa tattha agamanato aññassa aññato ca ta½ phala½ siy±? Upabhuñjake ca asati kassa ta½ phala½ siy±? Tasm± na sundaramida½ vidh±nanti. Tatrida½ vuccati–
Sant±ne ya½ phala½ eta½, n±ññassa na ca aññato;
b²j±na½ abhisaªkh±ro, etassatthassa s±dhako.
Ekasant±nasmiñhi phalamuppajjam±na½ tattha ekanta½ ekattan±natt±na½ paµisiddhatt± aññass±ti v± aññatoti v± na hoti. Etassa ca panatthassa b²j±na½ abhisaªkh±ro s±dhako. Ambab²j±d²nañhi abhisaªkh±resu katesu tassa b²jassa sant±ne laddhapaccayo k±lantare phalaviseso uppajjam±no na aññab²j±na½ n±pi aññ±bhisaªkh±rapaccay± uppajjati, na ca t±ni b²j±ni te abhisaªkh±r± v± phalaµµh±na½ p±puºanti. Eva½ sampadamida½ veditabba½. Vijj±sipposadh±d²hi c±pi b±lasar²re upayuttehi k±lantare vu¹¹hasar²r±d²su phaladehi ayamattho veditabbo.
Yampi vutta½ ‘upabhuñjake ca asati kassa ta½ phala½ siy±’ti? Tattha–
Phalassuppattiy± eva, siddh± bhuñjakasammuti;
phalupp±dena rukkhassa, yath± phalati sammuti.
Yath± hi rukkhasaªkh±t±na½ dhamm±na½ ekadesabh³tassa rukkhaphalassa uppattiy± eva rukkho phalat²ti v± phalitoti v± vuccati, tath± devamanussasaªkh±t±na½ khandh±na½ ekadesabh³tassa upabhogasaªkh±tassa sukhadukkhaphalassa upp±deneva devo v± manusso v± upabhuñjat²ti v± sukhitoti v± dukkhitoti v± vuccati. Yopi vadeyya– ‘eva½ santepi ete saªkh±r± vijjam±n± v± phalassa paccay± siyu½, avijjam±n± v±. Yadi ca vijjam±n± pavattikkhaºeyeva nesa½ vip±kena bhavitabba½. Atha avijjam±n±, pavattito pubbe ca pacch± ca nicca½ phal±vah± siyun’ti. So eva½ vattabbo–
Katatt± paccay± ete, na ca nicca½ phal±vah±;
p±µibhog±dika½ tattha, veditabba½ nidassana½.
Katatt± eva hi saªkh±r± attano phalassa paccay± honti, na vijjam±natt± v± avijjam±natt± v±. Yath±ha “k±m±vacarassa kusalassa kammassa katatt± upacitatt± vip±ka½ cakkhuviññ±ºa½ uppanna½ hot²”ti-±di (dha. sa. 431). Yath±rahassa attano phalassa ca paccay± hutv± na puna phal±vah± honti vipakkavip±katt±. Etassa catthassa vibh±vane ida½ p±µibhog±dika½ nidassana½ veditabba½.

Tattha– puññ±bhisaªkh±re t±va k±m±vacara-aµµhacetan±bhedo puññ±bhisaªkh±ro avisesena k±mabhave sugatiya½ navanna½ vip±kaviññ±º±na½ paµisandhiya½ n±n±kkhaºikakammapaccayena ceva upanissayapaccayena c±ti dvidh± paccayo. R³p±vacarapañcakusalacetan±bhedo puññ±bhisaªkh±ro r³pabhave paµisandhiya½ eva pañcanna½. Vuttappabhedak±m±vacaro pana k±mabhave sugatiya½ upekkh±sahagat±hetukamanoviññ±ºadh±tuvajj±na½ sattanna½ parittavip±kaviññ±º±na½ vuttanayeneva dvidh± paccayo pavatte, no paµisandhiya½. Sveva r³pabhave pañcanna½ vip±kaviññ±º±na½ tatheva paccayo pavatte, no paµisandhiya½. K±mabhave pana duggatiya½ aµµhannampi parittavip±kaviññ±º±na½ tatheva paccayo pavatte, no paµisandhiya½.
Tattha niraye mah±moggall±nattherassa narakac±rik±d²su iµµh±rammaºasam±yoge so paccayo hoti. Tiracch±nesu pana n±gasupaººapetamahiddhikesu ca iµµh±rammaºa½ labbhatiyeva. Sveva k±mabhave sugatiya½ so¼asannampi kusalavip±kaviññ±º±na½ tatheva paccayo pavatte ca paµisandhiyañca. Avisesena puññ±bhisaªkh±ro r³pabhave dasanna½ vip±kaviññ±º±na½ tatheva paccayo pavatte ca paµisandhiyañca.
