Etasmi½ pana imiss± p±¼iy± aµµhakath±ya ca atthe sati ya½ vutta½ m±tik±ya½ “vacanamattameva adhik±ra½ katv± pavatt± adhivacan± n±ma, sahetuka½ katv± vuccam±n± abhil±p± nirutti n±ma, pak±rena ñ±panato paññatti n±m±”ti (dha. sa. aµµha. 101-108), tena virodho siy±. Na hi upp±davayakiccarahitassa vacanamatta½ adhik±ra½ katv± pavatti atthi upp±d±disahitasseva pavattisabbh±vato, na ca vacanavacanatthavimuttassa n±massa niddh±retv± sahetuka½ katv± vuccam±nat± atthi, n±pi aniddh±ritasabh±vassa padatthassa tena tena pak±rena ñ±pana½ atth²ti.
Duvidh± c±ya½ paññatti yath±vuttappak±r±ti aµµhakath±vacanañca na dissati, aµµhakath±ya½ pana vijjam±napaññatti-±dayo cha paññattiyova vutt±. Tattha “r³pa½ vedan±”ti-±dik± vijjam±napaññatti. “Itth² puriso”ti-±dik± avijjam±napaññatti. “Tevijjo cha¼abhiñño”ti-±dik± vijjam±nena avijjam±napaññatti. “Itthisaddo purisasaddo”ti-±dik± avijjam±nena vijjam±napaññatti. “Cakkhuviññ±ºa½ sotaviññ±ºan”ti-±dik± vijjam±nena vijjam±napaññatti. “Khattiyakum±ro br±hmaºakum±ro”ti-±dik± avijjam±nena avijjam±napaññatti. Na ca “aya½ itthann±mo”ti saªketaggahaºa½ “r³pa½ tisso”ti-±divacanaggahaºañca muñcitv± aññassa asiddhasabh±vassa atthapaññ±pane samatthat± sambhavati, tesañca asamatthat±. Yadi hi tesa½ vin± paññattiy± atthapaññ±pane asamatthat± siy±, paññattipaññ±pane ca asamatthat±ti tass± aññ± paññatti vattabb± siy±, tass± tass±ti anavatth±na½, tato atthavij±nanameva na siy±, n±pi saªketaggahaºa½ saªketassa paññattibh±ve “aya½ imassa bh±sitassa attho”ti v±, “imassatthassa ida½ vacana½ jotakan”ti v±. Saññupp±damatte pana saªketaggahaºe vacanassa vacanatthavinimuttassa kappane payojana½ natthi. “Buddhassa bhagavato voh±ro lokiye sote paµihaññati” (kath±. 347), “abhij±n±si no tva½ ±nanda ito pubbe evar³pa½ n±madheyya½ suta½ yadida½ janavasabho”ti (d². ni. 2.280), “n±mañca s±veti koº¹añño aha½ bhagav±”ti-±d²hi (sa½. ni. 1.217) ca paññattiy± vacanabh±vo siddho. Yadi satt±dayo avijjam±napaññatti na honti, k± pana avijjam±napaññatti n±m±ti? Pak±sito ayamattho “avijjam±n±na½ satt±d²na½ saªkh±…pe… abhil±po avijjam±napaññatt²”ti. Satt±d²nañca avijjam±natt± atthit± neva vattabb±, ye ca vadeyyu½ “r³p±d²ni viya avijjam±natt± avijjam±nat± vutt±, na natthibh±vato”ti, ayañca v±do hevatthikath±ya paµisiddho, na ca r³pa½ vedan± na hot²ti avijjam±na½ n±ma hoti. Eva½ satt±dayopi yadi atthi, r³p±dayo na hont²ti avijjam±n±ti na vattabb±. Yasm± pana yesu r³p±d²su cakkh±d²su ca tath± tath± pavattam±nesu “satto itth² ratho ghaµo”ti-±dik± vicittasaññ± uppajjati, saññ±nulom±ni ca adhivacan±ni, tehi r³pacakkh±d²hi añño sattarath±disaññ±valambito vacanattho vijjam±no na hoti, tasm± sattarath±di-abhil±p± “avijjam±napaññatt²”ti vuccanti, na ca te “mus±”ti vuccanti lokasamaññ±vasena pavattatt±. Tato eva te abhil±p± “sammutisaccan”ti vuccanti. So ca vacanattho saya½ avijjam±nopi vijjam±nassa vacanasseva vasena paññattivoh±ra½ labhati, “sammutisaccan”ti ca vuccati yath±gahitasaññ±vasena pavattavacanatthabh±vato. “Sammutiñ±ºa½ sacc±rammaºameva, n±ññ±rammaºan”ti (kath±. 434) kath±ya ca “pathav²kasiº±di c²var±di ca sammutisaccamh²”ti imin±va adhipp±yena vuttanti viññ±yati. Yasm± r³p±d²su sant±nena pavattam±nesu ekattaggahaºavasena te amuñcitv± pavatta½ satt±diggahaºa½ cakkhuviññ±º±d²ni viya r³p±d²su tesu khandhesu cakkh±d²su ca asanta½ avijjam±na½ sattarath±di½ gaºh±ti, tasm± ta½ paritt±rammaº±dibh±vena na vattabbanti vutta½. Yadi puggalo na vijjati, katha½ puggalaggahaºassa s±rammaºat± siy±ti? Avijjam±nassapi ±rammaºassa gahaºato. 1316. N±makaraºaµµhen±ti añña½ anapekkhitv± sayameva attano n±makaraºasabh±vatoti attho. Yañhi parassa n±ma½ karoti, tassa ca tadapekkhatt± aññ±pekkha½ n±makaraºanti n±makaraºasabh±vat± na hoti. Tasm± mah±janassa ñ±t²na½ guº±nañca s±maññan±m±dik±rak±na½ n±mabh±vo n±pajjati. Yassa ca aññehi n±ma½ kar²yati, tassa ca n±makaraºasabh±vat± natth²ti natthiyeva n±mabh±vo, vedan±d²na½ pana sabh±vasiddhatt± vedan±din±massa n±makaraºasabh±vato n±mat± vutt±. Pathav²-±dinidassanena n±massa sabh±vasiddhata½yeva nidasseti, na n±mabh±vas±mañña½, niru¼hatt± pana n±masaddo ar³padhammesu eva vutto, na pathav²-±d²s³ti na tesa½ n±mabh±vo. M±tik±ya ca pathav²-±d²na½ n±mat±n±patti vutt±va. Na hi pathav²-±din±ma½ vijahitv± kes±din±mehi r³padhamm±na½ viya vedan±din±ma½ vijahitv± aññena n±mena ar³padhamm±na½ voharitabbena piº¹±k±rena pavatti atth²ti.
Atha v± r³padhamm± cakkh±dayo r³p±dayo ca tesa½ pak±sakapak±sitabbabh±vato vin± n±mena p±kaµ± honti, na eva½ ar³padhamm±ti adhivacanasamphasso viya n±m±yattagahaº²yabh±vena “n±man”ti vutt±, paµighasamphassopi na cakkh±d²ni viya n±mena vin± p±kaµoti “n±man”ti vutto. Ar³pat±ya v± aññan±masabh±gatt± saªgahitoya½, aññaphassasabh±gatt± v±. Vacanatthopi hi “r³payat²ti r³pa½, n±mayat²ti n±man”ti idha pacchimapurim±na½ sambhavati.
